Dozens of people gathered at the Sioux Falls Convention Center Saturday night for a straw poll.
The event is being put on by the South Dakota Republican Party.
Voters could pick one of the 8 republican candidates.
Tickets were $25.
Herman Cain won the poll coming in with 35% of the votes. Newt Gingrich 23%. Mitt Romney 20%. Rick Perry 7%. Ron Paul 5%. Michele Bachmann 4%. Rick Santorum 3% and Jon Huntsman 0%.
I think Perry’s comeback is going to peak in the low double-digits
Another BIG DAY for Perry...LOL.
No one seems excited about the professional political class. None of them are breaking 25%.
That should be a clue about the GOP mood.

Seeing Newt rise about Romney is very good news.
The tide may be turning... I hope it holds.
Thune keeps sending me letters in the mail asking for donations which I never return. He's been rather milquetoast in the Senate so far---I expected better from him.
I know it’s a straw poll, but interesting that Newt is up at 23%. Looks like some of the Romneyites are jumping ship and migrating over to Newt’s camp. The old guard might coalesce around Newt as Plan C for fending off the TEA mutiny. That’s really the only thing standing between Cain and the nomination at this point.

NH is an open primary. Since the dem candidate is set, they will vote in the GOP primary. Most of the people who vote for Romney in the primary will vote for 0bama in the general.

I second that prayer. I pray to our Lord for Mr. Cain’s protection & safety every night!!! The Rove/Romney/Obama/Politico “dirt bag” ilk will do anything, stop at nothing, to derail or prevent Herman Cain from moving forward because they know his success will be a total, positive, game changer for the American Republic and her people, all of them!!!
Cain/Gingrich/Palin/Rubio/Bachmann/The Tea Party, etc. are real threats to all RINOs, POTUS Obama, The Obamabots, the Democrat Party, the current political establishment and the lamestream media. IMHO, they will stop at nothing, and....I mean absolutely nothing, to take Herman Cain out, what ever evil way they can!!! Stay safe & secure Mr. Cain!!!
