We were wrong about Herman Cain and sexual harassment
http://www.washingtonpost.com ^ | 11/4/2011 | By Alexandra Petri

Maybe we were reading these sexual harassment allegations wrong.

They don’t seem to have hurt Cain at all. If anything, they’ve made him stronger. A Washington Post-ABC Poll found him still nearly tied with Romney in the polls — even after the allegations made news!

The Monday after they surfaced was a banner day for fundraising Cain. More than a million dollars of donations reportedly poured in. Maybe the Rick Perry staffer who so cleverly traveled back to the past to seed these allegations more than a decade ago should have thought harder. So far, they seem to be having the opposite of their expected effect.

“We were worried that ‘sexual harassment’ might be going too far,” someone murmurs in a bunker. “It’s a touchy subject. It’s not as clear-cut as an affair. It’s like pornography — you know it when you see it, and you try to keep it out of the office. But it turns out people enjoy a salacious sideline to their daily barrage of 2012 news.”

The woman with Rove is Mockarena. She and a friend have a website, Chicks on the Right. It’s worth visiting.

The key point in this piece, IMO.

And they and Rove and the GOP will be wrong on the forcing Romney and Perry down our throats too, regardless of whether Romney or Perry gets the nomination or not.

Thieves and neer-do-wells always deny. Hey, where there’s smoke there’s fire. Remember the oh so wise Perrywinkles and Romneybots who tried to float that line? If the shoe fits......

As I’ve said- - Pay back is a bitch.

They really should have written that NOBODY KNOWS THE SOURCE OR THE DETAILS about the allegations.

Instead, they stressed the political implications like the partisan slobs they are.

I’ll say it again-—appearances might lead to Perry’s people but I will wager that once the dust settles, the filthy figerprints of Obozo and the WH staff will be found all over the Cain “scandal.”

No named source, no details about the alleged behavior, no media appearances by any women——and the call that a STORY?

The money quote, the rick perry staffer that traveled back into the past to feed these allegations. Mr Wilson, the perry pollster, said he was there he saw it, what a dirt bag.

I missed that and would love to see it. Could you reference it for me. Thanks.

Rove is a slob. I never liked him even when with Bush.

You’re late in catching up. but I’m happy your on board now. Reality: “W” should and could have won in actual landslides if was a conservative. Problem: He was not. Therefore, Rove had to be very careful how he packaged the man.

Frankly, I’ve had way more than enough of professionally packaged candidates. Might as well vote for Spam in a can. Cain is the real deal and I’m in.

I’d like to think that you’re cracking wise about the time travel...

If not, it’s no wonder you’re for Perry - a guy who’s figured out how to use time travel to his advantage. America could use a President like that!

I don’t really believe Perry helped release the allegations at all.

Of course not, it is all done through surrogates and proxies.

The fact remains that Perry and Romney loyalists are/have been inside the NRA and it seems it originated from there.

Perry nor Romney gave a direct order to do this.

Just because you did not understand the sentence is not my fault, the dirt bag revisited his past, as in recalling details that happened years ago. No one word about time travel. Who went to the press and why, and how in the world would some clown news person in Oklahoma know, the dirt, bag, wilson, knew Cain, the so called woman, and/or that said dirt bag had ever worked for the NRA.

ABC nightly national news let something really important slip last night.

Perhaps this tidbit was elsewhere earlier, but I didn’t see it & I am a news junkie.

We already knew that the woman who made allegations was paid off on 9-9-1999 & terminated with a severance paycheck, possibly 3 months worth—possibly a year’s worth. IF she got only $45,000, she was not very high on the pecking order if that was her annual salary.

Then ABC said that she had filed the allegations against Herman Cain in July, 1999.

That is certainly a quick resolution, which make me think more & more that her allegations were a sign that she could be more trouble in the future.

WHY?

Because Herman Cain had LEFT his post as an executive at National Restaurant Association.......in JUNE 1999.

Therefore, Cain was already gone & this woman comes forward with her allegations AFTER Herman is gone & it explains to me why he doesn’t know many of the details of what transpired.

I am sure he was interviewed.

I am sure that the insurance company was involved, along with lawyers who work on such cases where a high ranking exec is accused of something that is very hard to prove either direction.

I am sure association execs took the usual & normal path-—after all—WHEN was she going to make allegations against them??? How could she do the job she was being paid for?

Such employees are toxic within the company if you retain them. Other employees are very suspicious & uncomfortable around them from that moment forward. No one knows what they MIGHT do that can be mis-interpreted & result in some sort of accusations.

Certainly the higher your position, the less you wish to interact with such a person, making both persons unproductive.

IMO, Cain couldn’t have known alot of the nitty-gritty details as to how the association & the insurance companies & the lawyers handled this mess because he NO LONGER was working there.

No matter what, I am supporting Herman Cain—and I really made up my mind when this series of vague accusations surfaced this past 7 days.

“Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder”!!! And....”Sexual Harressment is in the eyes of the beholder”!!! In my many years (seven) as a labor relations/employer, head arbitrator, I dismissed, fired, made agreements with parties on this subject. IMHO, roughly 75% of these brought charges, mainly brought forth by women, have no factual, meaningful or actual basis for action. Remember, in our society, the accused is innocent until proven guilty by facts, and...facts only. Hearsay does not cut the mustard!!! I can remember many a case, when the two union members of the grievance board, glanced like Ho-Hum Chief over at me, the management head of the board, and then kicked me under the table, meaning Boss, get rid of this dame, she’s nuts!!! And.....we had women of both the union & management on the board. Now, in fact we did dismiss employees for sexual haressment, but......that was indeed a rare occurance, and, with very harsh facts & circumstances presented in all cases!!!

I would suggest that the Sunday TV news shows cancel all they have planned for tomorrow morning covering the Cain farce. At least they will be able to save face!!! On the good side, they will probably survive it, mainly because no one with half a brain will be watching this hogwash!!! And....after watching a number of Jonathan Martion interviews on this same subject, Mr. Martin in his presentation make a weak, incomplete....and, sometimes incoherent delivery and appears persoanlly stressed across the board. As for the accuser attorney, I would never have let that supposed, professional, gentleman testify in front of our board without full written documentation and true facts concerning his client’s case!!! End of story!!! The media, across the baord looks real bad on this one!!!
