Herman Cain Has a Powerful Enemy in Iowa[Hard-Core Evangelical Christian Host]

The harassment scandal highlights Cain's rift with Iowa's most dangerous conservative talker.

Herman Cain has messed with the wrong Iowan.

One strand of the multifaceted scandal unfolding around the Republican presidential candidate this week has been the charge that Cain treated female staffers of Des Moines-based radio host Steve Deace in a manner Deace found "awkward and inappropriate."

While Deace has refused to describe the interaction that prompted that characterization, he has also spent the week relentlessly pounding Cain on his nightly talk show -- and taking to task the conservatives who, at least at first, largely defended the former Godfather's Pizza CEO.

Deace says his major objections to Cain predated the scandal and are based on matters of substance. But there's no question that, for whatever reason, Cain has become the top target of Deace's fierce -- some would say demagogic -- ire.

And that could be a big problem for Cain. Because Deace isn't just any radio talker -- he can plausibly claim to be one of the most influential right-wing figures in the Hawkeye State. Four years ago, he played an instrumental role in Mitt Romney's loss, and Mike Huckabee's win, in the Iowa caucuses.

Now, Deace has his sights trained on Cain.

So “hard-core Evangelical” is now a bad thing?

So a "hard core evangelical" who forgets the 9th Commandment about bearing false witness when it suits his political agenda?

If you going to talk the talk, you better walk the walk. Neither you, nor this host, walk the talk.

"I agree but I also know Steve Deace, Jen Green, and Rebekah Maxwell. They aren't into this PC garbage either. So whatever Herman Cain did it must have been pretty crude for Steve to feel that as a Christian Male he needed to say something about it." [quote]under comment by JEFF

Deace returns to radio air waves

Steve Deace, the top-rated afternoon drive host who stepped down from his post on 1040-WHO in Des Moines in February, has announced he will return to the rtadio air waves Aug. 12 — a day ahead of the Iowa GOP Straw POll

http://iowacaucus.com/2011/07/29/deace-returns-to-radio-air-waves/

BRAKES.....So why did he leave?

Deace, 37, who is known for his Christian fundamentalism and conservative political views, resigned from WHO effective Jan. 28 in what was described as friendly parting. He issued a statement today outlining the “first phase of future plans.” He said he is forming a new company, Veritas Group, LLC, which will serve as the “central hub of his future media endeavors” as well as political consulting.

“I’ve received a total of 11 directed or indirect job inquiries in the past few weeks that would allow me to do either politics or media,” Deace said. “However, I’ve decided to pursue a path that will allow me to be involved in both politics as well as media simultaneously.”

He added he is still working out details of the next phase of his future, which could involve running for office, the publishing of his next book – which focuses on the religious right and its impact on American politics – or a return to news talk radio as a syndicated host. A possible run for office could include a try for the Iowa Senate seat now held by Sen. Pat Ward, R-West Des Moines, or another Senate seat that opens because of legislative reapportionment, he said.

Steve Deace hopes to publish a book later this year [not another book!], is intrigued by the possibility of pursuing politics and will consider a return to broadcasting..[latter which fell into play]

>>>> station manager Van Harden wrote in an e-mail to the parting.

Van Harden’s e-mail continued:

While he does not have another position to which he is going,he has had the ear and interest of many politicians[?] and political campaigns seeking his strategic advice, and he says there is a possibility he may be doing some consulting.

While this came as a surprise to us, we at WHO, and Steve, want all to know this is a very friendly parting, so much so that Steve says he may be able to make himself available occassionally (sic) to do some fill-in work for us if needed. http://blogs.desmoinesregister.com/dmr/index.php/tag/steve-deace/

To the Tea Party Folks:

"You’re going to have to make up your minds: Do you want to be patriots, or do you want to be party people? And you will not be able to be both. You cannot serve two masters. You’re going to hate one and love the other, and love one and hate the other, but sooner or later you’re going to hate yourself if you do.”

“If you want to move from a rally to a revolution, if you want to move from a movement to a government, these are the things you have to understand,” Deace said. “Resist as long as you can the temptation to anoint one or two stars or leaders. The system will come to you. They will ask you, ‘Who’s your leader? Who do we talk to?’ … And the reason they do that: They want to narrow down the amount of people they can buy off.”

It’s not hard to figure out. All I had to do was spend a couple minutes on his website. It’s an open book to...nothing.

How is he “bearing false witness”...? I don’t know anything about Deace, but he described what bothered him. It might not bother most people; I thought it was more condescending and obnoxious than harrassing, but Deace simply said that he didn’t like the tone of it. That’s not “false witness.”

But now I guess being an Evangelical is considered being an enemy of Cain?

My dear sir/sirette, this comment is not a ping so don’t get nervous agains. Because on two occasions I mentioned your handle in making a point on the subject of “sourcing”, the manners rule required that I include your person in the bar, marked “TO:”. I don’t like it any better than you do.

However, it was you who sought me out on the subject and asked for my sources yesterday. Well buster, this thread offers those sources to you and you’re still whining. I can’t help it because you won’t/can’t/don’t use “search” for yourself, and are left barking because I have now provided you that source you wanted. You had pinged me, remember? When you became frustrated because you couldn’t find them? With your sensitivities to pings required by the manners rule, surely now there are other stumps for you to go butt. Or ping fuss about. Sheesh.

Don’t overlook the fact that the profile in Atlantic was payback - the media does that with republicans who stand against the nonelites. Everytime McCain took a stand against a principled republican plan or politician, within the week, he would have a puff piece in the WaPo, NYT,or one of the network blogs... I’m continually amazed at how cheaply republicans sell their souls...

I found nothing wrong with Cain's RTL position ~ it was all coherent and consistent, and if you read every bit of the transcript where some found differences you'd see there was no difference.

Deace should try reading every now and then. He's still soft on people who ridicule Sarah's baby ~ and that's evidence of a fundamental crudeness on his part that should take him out of contention as a serious opinion maker.

“Cain said, ‘Darling, do you mind doctoring my tea for me?’” Deace said.”

OMG... we’ve got him now! Cain has had it with this one, it’s over.

I doubt that I have ever seen (used) a more direct pickup line.

Should I ask a female to add honey and lemon to my tea, you can bet the farm that I am trying to jump her bones.

If I compliment her on the jewelry she has chosen to wear, I’m going in for the kill.....get out of the way...I’m going to take her right then and right there!!

Cain and Block haven’t done themselves any favors on this mess, but this corrupt and deception filled witch hunt is beyond despicable. I’d support Cain on this stuff even if I couldn’t stand the man.

You race from thread to thread lying about Cain in the hopes by doing so you will help your canidate

That is not the actions of a Christian.

How about instead of lying about Cain on thread after thread you try to made the case FOR your candiate for a change.

I think this Deace guy is creepy. And he’s supposed to be a virtuous Christian of some prominence in Iowa?

I pray that the people of Iowa will use discernment and look for the facts themselves.

Now, for the fourth time,

I've been very polite with you, Rita. But now I don't know how else to put this to you, other than very plainly and simply:

*Please stop pinging me*

No hard feelings, Rita. I'm just not interested in being a participant in this style of "discussion". I hope that's clear enough.

---------------------------------------------------------

Rita, Rita, Rita. This is cyber-stalking. Leave me alone. If I have to say it again, next time I push the "abuse" button. I'd rather not.

How about this ~ Deace claims he’s an Evangelical, but he’s not. He’s one of the people Jesus warned us against.

No such thing as CYBERSTALKING at FR

The boards are open to all provided they adhere to certain standards.

If you don't care to be pinged GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. If you are distressed because somebody else won't respond to you, learn to ignore boorish behavior.

Ain't no thang eh!
