Funny you should say that..First being from the NE, I grew up with great dislike of white southerners for their treatment of blacks which were portrayed and still is in film, best sellers etc, today. However, I grew up and hopefully wiser; and now have southern friends [cliche.. lol]. I remember in those films black men were portrayed by whites as sexual predators and southern white males did not want them talking or touching their "women"; which led to stereotyping black males "with rumors of black male sexual prowess which continued to simultaneously stimulate and intimidate the imaginations of white America: Henry Havelock Ellis, a sexual psychologist, noted:""I am informed that the sexual power of Negroes . . . are the cause of the favor with which they are viewed by some white women of strong sexual passions in America and by many prostitutes. Was it racist in accusing Cain of being "too close or not minding his place" when talking to these women? It becomes difficult to say what he did that was uncomfortable when reactions to another can be subjectively interpreted through prejudices that one may not want to publicly admit.
