Free Republic founder Jim Robinson has a message for supporters of Mitt Romney: go away.
In an email to POLITICO this afternoon, Robinson admitted that the site routinely blocks Romney supporters from posting -- and offered no apologies for the practice:
Free Republic is a pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-small government, pro-constitution, pro-liberty site. Governor Romney is none of the above. His record is that of an abortionist, gay rights pushing, gun grabbing, global warming advocating, big government, mandate loving, constitution trampling, flip-flopping liberal progressive with no core values. That and the fact that he is the chief architect and advocate for ObamaCare disqualifies him for any consideration whatsoever on Free Republic as a potential nominee for the presidency.

LOVE IT when you talk that way!!!
LOL.
For campaigning for Romney?
RLY? How many times do you think Jim should have to make FR's pursuits, principles, purposes and foundations clear?
Rove is known for backing Romney. That said, Rove is a GOP establishment man. Rove was an early protege for Perry after Perry became a Republican. They fell out later during Romney's run for governor, but...
My suspicion is that Rove will be in it for any establishment candidate over any 'interloper' (read Tea Party favorite) such as Palin, Bachmann, Cain, or anyone who hasn't shown fealty to the establishment. And Perry, regardless of how he's painted, will get preference if the need arises. That's my suspicion, but I've seen nothing to warrant thinking otherwise.
So, are you related to Jim on his wife’s side or a cousin?
Yeah! And Perry supporters. And Gingrich supporters. And Santorum supporters (both of 'em)! Then we can get focussed on saving the Republic with the only hope we have left. /s
Man, these deja-vu's are killer
“Please add Ron Paul supporters tothe FR Banned list.”
That would violate the Americans with Disabilities Act.
>> “Rather welcomed, in fact.” <<

Real Christians know that Yeshua didn’t found something new, he fulfilled that which was of old. The feasts that Israel has kept alive are just as important now as they were for Adam.
At a minimum he’d make one Heck of a SEC DEF.
You’ve been here long enough to know when to use a sarc tag.
Or were you serious?
That was my exact thought when someone mentioned the comments under the article. You're just a faster and much better writer than I am.
When can my wife and kids move in to your house?
I wasn’t going to mention it, yet, but how about some popcorn, DJ?
In most main stream churches they would hand over the pulpit and invite you to coffee hour.
Remember him in that GEICO commercial, as a psychiatrist? One of my absolute favorites! As with any good humor, there was more than a grain of truth in it.
Oh, my son (2LT, USMC) returned from “the ‘stan” a few weeks ago.
That was my point. They use the word "admitted" instead of, say, "stated," or "emphasized," or "explained," as a way of making it seem like the speaker is on the defensive, even when no such thing is true.
It is only one of numerous ways in which allegedly "objective journalists" introduce editorial content into pretty much any story they print. It is one of the reasons why I, and millions of others, won't read their drivel any more.
Better to get your news from a source that is up-front about it's biases. Less work, having to pick through the snarky passive-aggressive editorializing that interlards every paragraph of the MSM.
I routinely ban progressives. Damn right I do. Progressives are the enemy of the constitution. They are the enemy within. I’ve sworn an oath to defend the constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Governor Romney routinely trampled on our constitution and I routinely keep support for him off this pro-constitution conservative site.
Progressivism is simply another word for Marxism. Look it up. Romney’s record is that of a liberal progressive Republican, ie, a RINO. And I simply do not believe his recent politically expedient conversion to conservatism. He’s a known liar and fraud. His known record is a more accurate gauge of future performance than his false rhetoric.
Terrific...
Here's the way I see it by way of analogy. Jim runs a steakhouse. A bunch of OWS types who advocate a vegan diet show up at his restaurant, complaining about the meat on the menu.
I think the steakhouse owner would indeed be proud for banning those disruptors. Even if that analogy does have a flaw, the fact remains that an owner of any enterprise has (or should have) the right to refuse service to anyone. I for one applaud Jim Robinson for his clarity and stand for absolute values. The banning of Romney supporters makes FR a better place for Constitutional Conservatives, IMHO.
I was being very serious...
Banning abusive posters is fine..
banning spam posters? sure
Banning people for being being supportive of Romney? Seems like an over-reaction to me..
Being PROUD of it, looks foolish. .. IMHO
“We are all better off hearing and reading, thinking over, and deciding based upon thorough information.”
I would agree, BUT:
From someone who reads many conservative web sites, it is readily apparent that Romney has an organization of paid posters who spam message boards and news stories either with: (1) negative stories about Romney’s target of the day or (2) positive stories about Romney.
In fact, I’ve seen the same first 5 or so posts on FR and Lucianne.com with different screen names but word-for-word the same on the the two websites (that is, the same 5 posters posted the same exact thing on both websites in the same order).
