Over the past six weeks, a funny thing has happened in national polling in the Republican presidential race: former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, thrown on the political scrap heap as recently as this summer, is back in the mix — in a major way.

In a new New York Times/CBS News national poll, Gingrich was alone in third place......

New Site: Reagan-Palin Conservatives for Newt Gingrich, http://t.co/oJAmLh9a

As a Reagan-Palin conservative, I cannot justify supporting any of the others.

Newter Obama!
Newter the Progressive Movement!

I've been ticked off at Newt for a long time, but I have to say, I saw him on C-SPAN last week and he really impressed me. He ennumerated all the things he would immediately do as soon as he took office, and wow, like I said, I was impressed. Plus, I'd just love to see Newt in a debate with Obama. He would shred him.

After reviewing the shortcomings of the rest of the field, I believe that his past marriage woes and sitting on the couch with Nancy, will be religated to warts, easily overlooked.
Simply by charging admission (pay per view) for a series of debates with Obama, we can retire the national debt!

I’m down to Cain, Gingrich and Santorum. If none of these three make it to the end, I may just write in Palin.

I am on the Newt train...Gingrich/Cain. That’s my ticket. I heard him speak last week in Vegas. He said something that was so elegant..my friend recorded it and I have to get the quote right. It was about politics being the romantic notion of how a free people govern themselves. I know he has some baggage, but you can’t have a life in politics without some. I believe he is the man of the moment. He has the stature, and the brains and the Washington know how. He is a man of substance...I’m hoping his numbers rise.

You have to be kidding! A man who will lie to his wife and cheat on her will lie about anything and everything. Have you forgotten his support of that liberal Didi “Scuzzyfuzzy”? Newt is a lying opportunist and will say anything to get elected. We can’t trust him as far as we could throw him.

He’s got his downside, but overall, I could support Newt. He’s extremely smart, even if he’s occasionally misguided.

he is not prone to silly remarks all the time.

LOL, are you serious. Newt is absolutely prone to stupid remarks. It was just a couple months ago he threw the entire Republican House under the bus by declaring the Paul Ryan budget was right wing social engineering (after virtually every Republican in the House voted for it). It was so bad it near killed his campaign. Nope, sorry, Newt is a walking gaffe machine. We don't have to go very far back to a time he was sitting on a couch with Nancy Pelosi spouting about the need to combat global warming.

Unfortunately, Cain and Perry also make silly remarks all the time. And if Perry can't resurrect his campaign we are kinda left with Cain and Newt as the anti-Romney. As I don't think Cain has the slightest chance to beat Obama, I am disappointed to say I might be left with Newt as the only real alternative. I am hanging on to hope Perry can improve and I know he has the money to compete, but he needs to get his act together. Ugh, not only am I not excited about the prospect of having to default to Newt, I find his wife Callista to be just bizarre.

Still wish Paul Ryan would have run.

Last month it was Myth, the month before it was Ricardo.

Field positions are going to be in flux for the next six months.

There is a vacuum that none of them can fill.
