Some airy argument that prices will go down isn’t working for me.

Palin: Newt Won Vegas Face-Off, Would "Clobber" Obama In A Debate

Newt has performed VERY well at most of these debates and he has a whole arsenal of ideas. His problem is trust with the base. While he sees things very clearly, he also lends his support to some insane positions such as flipping on cap and trade, man made climate change and instead of rejecting the premise, he would like conservative solutions to progressive derived arguments.

Nana: I was yelling “somebody please know and say that those same Founding Fathers were dead dunked into Mormonism. They werent allowed freedom of religion”

Bosco: What in the world does this mean? Founding Fathers and Mormonism?
______________________________________

Glad you asked...

The Founding Fathers were dead dunked into Mormonism...

Its a historical fact...

Glenn Beck knows it and Romney knows it...

Romney was dead wrong last night when he tried to play the victim card and all innocent...

The Mormon Romney was the biggest religious bigot on the stage last night...

Unless the amount being collected is small enough to allow freedom and liberty, then it doesn't matter what the method/formula for collecting it is.

I have asked for this as well from ALL of the candidates. We keep talking about "revenue-neutral". I don't really care about "revenue-neutral", but the pols do. I want a legitimate balance sheet displayed from SOME candidate showing WHAT needs to be funded and HOW MUCH those things cost. It's like shopping for a new car. The BASE PRICE of the car without all of the extra bells and whistles is X. When you add this bell or that whistle, X increases to Y. I want a debate for WHAT X IS!

You didn’t answer my question. I asked what you mean by the Founding Fathers being “dead dunked into Mormonism”, and you simply repeat yourself. Mormonism didn’t exist until the 1820’s, some 40-50 years after the founding of our country. Please explain what you mean by our Founding Fathers being “dead dunked into Mormonism”.

And no, I’m not Mormon, it’s just that your post makes no sense as written...

eliminate our current monstrous tax code and replaces it with a 9% flat tax. Eliminating the tax code is step one in repealing the 16th Amendment. Lastly, the 9-9-9 plan eliminates other current taxes including the payroll tax and the estate tax and it reduces tax rates while widening the tax base

This is all good stuff. But what CAN'T happen is the creation of a sales tax BEFORE the 16th Amendment is repealed. A sales tax on top of a VERY-HARD-to-repeal Constitutionally-protected income tax and IRS would be disastrous.

The initial income tax reduction would of course create massive recovery along the lines of the historic 25-years of prosperity following Reagan's historic tax cuts.

Afterwards, going to work to repeal and eliminate income tax and (most of) the IRS would be a wonderful thing I think, if a sales tax is truly better than an income tax, which I kind of think it is as long as it is a one-tax only retail tax and not a tax repeated though the supply chain. We would need to accept that it would be a huge and possibly drawn-out effort to repeal the 16th Amendment which would be akin to killing some kind of invincible monster. As Reagan said, "No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. So, governments' programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth."

It happened

To ALL of them...

Yes Mormonism wasnt invented until 1830, 50 years later

after they were all dead...

But a few years after that “the temple work” was done for ALL the Founding Fathers...

Would you mind if I get a couple of experts in Mormonism to explain it better than I can ???

Perfect analogy. These plans are $399/mo financing with a page of terms vs $425/mo financing with different terms and a shorter loan period.

What is the actual total PRICE!?!

"...Under Cain’s plan, my top marginal income tax rate will fall from 28% to 9%, and I won’t have to fork out almost 7% of my income in payroll taxes. I will *gladly* pay a national sales tax of 9% in exchange for that. No brainer...."

Very succinct and well stated. Hope you don't mind if I quote you...

Thanks. No, I understand what “Temple Work” refers to. If you had said that I’d have understood. It was the phrase “dead dunked” that made no sense.

Prices may NOT go down, but don't pretend that you are not already paying after-income-tax taxes right now. You don't want YOUR money to be hit again, but it is already occurring. You and I pay the corporate taxes in everything we buy.

People who have spent most of their life earning money, paying a high rate of income tax and saving money for retirement, will now get taxed 9% on their life savings as they spend it in their retirement.

It's only a problem if you think there are a class of people who should not contribute any amount to reviving this country.

No. Did you read what I said? I said it's a problem for people who have spent their entire life paying more than their share of a high rate of income tax.

You and others who try to make this case, tend to ignore the hidden taxes they'd already be paying that are baked into current prices for goods and services. While those taxes will become visible, the consumers may not really pay more in total.

I'm not ignoring anything. Those hidden taxes on goods and services would be less than the visible 9% sales tax.

You're ignoring what I said. I didn't say that the consumer on average would pay more. I said the people who have shouldered the burden of paying taxes would get taxed again when they retire as they spend their savings.

Then maybe you will explain it to me...

Several of my Christian ancestors have been victims of the Mormon “temple work”

So was Obamas Mom Stan Ann Dunham...dead dunked, endowments, sealings...

Thats why we now have our 1st Mormon president...

Calling folks who disagrees theologically with mormons “haters” discredits you or any of the other so-called conservatives who resort to liberal behavior in a feeble attempt to slander other FReepers.

As an ex-mormon critic of mormonism and the mormon church, I would welcome correction if I mis-stated something in the course of my discussions on these boards. However, what I normally get are petulant, whining comments and name calling. Typically, I’m labeled a “hater”.

magritte, labeling (libeling) folks you disagree with has never bothered you before, so I’m not surprised you persist in your peurile ad hominems.

I am not an “anti-mormon”, nor do I “hate” mormons, no matter how many times it’s repeated. Instead of using more accurate terms or words like “church critic”, the word “anti-” is used as it relates to the mormons as a people, “anti-mormon”.

That it is a personal prejudice. It helps to draw parallels to many “anti-” [such as anti-semitism] pogroms from the past and currently.

It’s an incendiary word that is already loaded with negative connotations that arouses in people a reflexive response that is neither necessary nor relevant, almost feral in nature.

I’m against everything the mormon church stands for, not the people.

If I were an anti-mormon, meaning I don’t like mormons, or “hate” them as I’ve been so oft accused, why would I still be married to one? Why would I associate with them in the many venues that I do? Why would I care about them enough to endure the slurs, slander, lies etc. that I encounter not only on FR, but in my daily life because I dare to take a stand against the false teachings of mormonism?

No, I dare say that if I “hated” mormons, I would leave them to their fate, instead, I challenge them to challenge their beliefs and teachings.

But then again, there are many who are totally incapable of making those simple distinctions.

It wasn’t one of us so-called (labeled) “haters” that started it if you give a crap, but that shouldn’t prevent us from correcting the libel either. If the thread hijack bothers you so damn much, jump on the person who did it.

Interesting analogy you used there, “furnace”.

It’s not lost on me.

Waiting to see how much rope you’re given to play that one out.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

A believing Catholic **is** to his core Catholic values. To be against Catholic values and beliefs would mean that you would be against everything that person stands for, works for, defends, and who he *is*. It would mean being against that **person**.

Go here. Mormons "seal" those who died outside their faith into their faith through "Temple Work", although the term includes other "rites" as well. And as I understand it, it's not limited to one's family (as you imply with your "Founding Fathers" remark). It's been decades since I was somewhat understanding of all this so my memory may be somewhat off. Perhaps this link will help. Better yet, consult a Mormon.
