The Candidates:
Michele Bachmann
Bachmann is serving her 3rd full term in the U.S. House. Founder of the House Tea Party Caucus, worked as a tax attorney, and was a foster mother for 23 teenagers. She is a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
Herman Cain
Cain is the former chief executive of Godfather's Pizza and former chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. He lost the Georgia Republican primary for a U.S. Senate seat in 2004. He was recently the host of Atlanta-based radio show.
Newt Gingrich
Gingrich served as Speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 1995 to 1999. He represented Georgia's 6th congressional district as a Republican member from 1979 to 1999. He has a PhD in modern European history.
Ron Paul
Paul is serving his 11th full term in the U.S. House. He’s an ob-gyn and was Libertarian nominee for president in 1988. He unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for president in 2008
Rick Perry
Perry is the three term governor of Texas, from 2000 to current. He is a retired Air Force captain for former farmer. He has a degree in animal science.
Mitt Romney
Romney was governor of Massachusetts (2003 to 2007) and former CEO of Bain Capital, a private equity investment firm. He unsuccessfully sought the Republican 2008 nomination for president. He has an MBA (Harvard) and JD (Harvard Law).
Rick Santorum
Santorum served two terms in the U.S. House and two terms in the U.S. Senate. He became the Senate's third-ranking Republican in 2001. He was defeated for reelection in 2006.
That’s about the way I saw it. I thought Perry was much better. He’s never going to be Gingrich, but I thought he went to his strong points better tonight. I liked his line to that Commie twit Cooper, “you get to ask the questions, I’ll decide if I want to answer it”, or something to that effect. Which is exactly correct, most of these questions are setups from the Democrats at CNN, designed to make the GOP look bad.
I thought Ron Paul was good, but then I always think that because he’s my guy. Too bad he can’t sell himself better. I didn’t like Gingrich having to admit he supported an individual mandate on healthcare.... I didn’t know that. Point deduction for Gingrich. At least he attacked Romney on it. I thought Romney finally got beat up tonight. Cain acquitted himself ok, considering he had everyone attacking his 9-9-9 plan. He didn’t lose anything tonight. I still haven’t decided on who to support.

Is the objective to secure the border? Or is it to build a fence?
The question of how far north of the river are the cattle directly dependent on the Rio Grande for water cuts through your BS. So tell us, from how far above the river are cattle going to drink water in the Rio Grande?
On the other hand, those service providers will not have to pay taxes in other areas that would significantly offset those paricular taxes. And lets face it, the more wealthy use most of those services, and their income tax rate will be reduced by more than the 9% on those services.
The best part of Cain’s proposal is that businesses and individuals will be making far more decisions based on business rather than tax reasons. When people make money decisions based on the tax code rather than real economic reasons, the market becomes drastically distorted and much more unproductive.
Cain’s proposal will also induce people with money they could invest to go ahead and do so.
9-9-9 is not perfect, but it is a significant improvement on the current tax system.
And you, madam, have all the gravitas of a young Sue Ellen swooning over J.R.
Sounds like I’m lucky I changed the channel. I have a few issues with 999 but overall anything that will get rid of the IRS, capital gains etc is a step in the right direction and at least Cain HAS a plan. Not seeing much from anyone else.

Cain is saying what Cain has been saying all along. But the media has told us that he’s nothing but 999 and we’re letting them get away with it.
Ridiculously narrow local interests compared to border security for a nation of 310 million.
Newt rocked. In every debate I’ve seen him in during this election cycle, he’s been brillant! Absolutely stunning in his responses and grasp of the issues. He also has been hitting the media where they need to be hit, and he’s doing it so well, I doubt Anderson Cooper feels that black eye he’ll wake up with tomorrow morning. Although I don’t see him winning the nomination, he’d make one hell of a Secretary of State.
As for Herman Cain, the more I see of this individual, the more I like and respect him.
So, who is our nominee going to be? Cain? I think he has a chance of taking it away from Romney. As for Romney, he’d better start proving to me that he actually means what is coming from his mouth regarding Obamacare. And I want to know if those advisors who worked with the Obama Admin on Health Care are still working for Romney’s Campagin. This needs to be addressed.
LOL! I thought maybe Perry might have had a swig or two of "Five Hour Energy" for tonight's debate. He started fading at about 9:23pm ET though... ;-)
People keep asking this question as though it's one of those eternal universal mysteries that can't be solved.
The Rio Grande can be fenced on the US side, as long as you provide controlled access points for those US citizens and agencies that require ready access to the water.
Put more border guard personnel and stronger security measures at those access points, than along the rest of the fence. This just isn't an insoluble problem.
I guess you can call it bickering if you want to - but I think Perry got some hard hits in there to Romney. Perry made some excellent points during the debate, especially his remark about de-funding the UN. He held his own & made Romney look like the lying sleaze that he is. This was Romney's worst debate performance to date & that is mostly because Rick Perry bloodied him.
I did not take that as class envy. I took it as which one of these two men can people relate to more. There are more people who have started at the bottom and worked their way up than there are people who start at the top. Many people see themselves at the bottom and want to work up to the top. They have something to aspire to achieve and Herman Cain’s experience can inspire them.
Cain’s recruiter told him he was more valuable as a civilian employee of the Navy.
So what is your problem?

Sarah Palin certainly agrees with your take on Newt’s performance tonight. During interview with Greta she was way positive about Newt’s answers, especially his solutions.
That would be fine, but I thought the Rio Grande was sort of....well, wimpy.
