Herman Cain's former Iowa state director, Tina Goff, has signed on to Rick Santorum's presidential campaign.
Goff is one of three Iowa staffers that resigned from the Cain campaign in June, citing Cain's unwillingness to make a serious effort in the first-caucus state ahead of the Ames Straw Poll.
"Senator Santorum has shown a tremendous commitment to Iowa and the principles our nation was founded upon. I have worked for several presidential campaigns, but none have the organization, passion, and focus of the Santorum campaign," Goff said in a statement. "This is a refreshing reminder of what voters require of candidates for the highest office in the land, and I am honored to join the Santorum team!"
Goff, who will manage operations in central Iowa for the Santorum campaign, worked on Fred Thompson's 2008 presidential campaign and Terry Branstad's 2010 gubernatorial campaign.
Cain will make his first trip to Iowa since the straw poll this weekend, to attend the Iowa Faith and Freedom Forum in Des Moines.
talk about bad timing. Leaving the guy that is leading in all of the polls for someone who is hardly breaking into the barely noticied range. Probably a good thing these idiot left Cain’s campaign.
Herman Cain’s former Iowa state director, Tina Goff, has signed on to Rick Santorum’s presidential campaign.
Appears Tina is in free fall.
They resigned in JUNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And no, this is not a soap opera - the future of our Republic depends on a sober, nature discussion of the issues.
Some FReepers are descending to the level of Democrats in childish temper tantrums. It is unseemly and useful only to the DEMs and RINOs.
I'll try again.
If she had been Cain's Iowa state campaign director, wouldn't she be the one Herman Cain would appeal to to get things up and running? Hire her back. Wouldn't she be knocking on his door instead of Santorum's campaign which isn't fairing well?
Setting up ground troops just doesn't happen overnight and it isn't cheap.
Good move. Like going from the Patriots to the Dolphins. Dumbazz/
Yuppers this shows Cain is in big trouble.
Maybe this guy will hop up to 6 percent Rick when he hits the less than 1 point...
The Public Policy Polling poll, conducted Oct. 7-10, polled 311 probable Iowa caucusgoers and found that 30 percent would likely vote for Cain, the Atlanta businessman. Mitt Romney was second with 22 percent and Ron Paul rounded out the top three with 10 percent.
-snip-
The latest numbers show the stark contrast between Cain’s rise and the demise of Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann.
Perry was the leading candidate in Iowa after jumping into the race in August with 22 percent, but slipped all the way to 9 percent — a major indictment of his slumping popularity and viability as a potential Republican nominee.
I'm sure she can read the news.
Well, it was Huckabee in ‘08 :)
It’s kind of ironic that the only 2 horses in the race without jockeys are making strong moves turning into the stretch. The Cain horse and the Gingrich horse....go figure?
“This lifeboat is all wet and crowded, I’m swimming back to the Titanic. It looks better over there.”
Cain by 8 over Romney. By almost 20 over Perry.
Maybe not, but he may have enough to pay a staffer or two. He’s popular in the social conservative crowd and that’s growing, which more than likely translates to a bump in cash flow. As of now he’s been doing most everything himself and he’s trying to leverage and build on his gains.
No newly hired staffer is going to come out and say: ‘Well Bob I went to Santorum’s campaign because I got a higher status position and more pay’. That would be suicide. Even the dumbest figure that out.
Even so, how seriously does Iowa need to be taken? Herman’s the frontrunner, Iowa is the winnowing state. NH is a Romney pyrrhic victory. I’d put my money and time into SC and FL.
Hmmm. Perry’s Deputy Finance Director resigned only days before the campaign announced their fund raising bonanza. Wonder what was in that report she didn’t want to have anything do do with?
Are we sure that the staffer wasn’t offered a better deal from Santorum?
In THIS economy, any job is better than no job. I suppose for her, even one on "The Titanic" looked good....
Political hacks can be prone to self-defeating behaviors, just like normal people.
This is October, that was about 5 Months ago, not even relevant now.

Well to be fair, they haven’t seen a nat’l poll or an early state poll in weeks that they like to they are feeling a little “tantrum-y.”
Probably time to boycott some threads;)
