Herman Cain's former Iowa state director, Tina Goff, has signed on to Rick Santorum's presidential campaign.
Goff is one of three Iowa staffers that resigned from the Cain campaign in June, citing Cain's unwillingness to make a serious effort in the first-caucus state ahead of the Ames Straw Poll.
"Senator Santorum has shown a tremendous commitment to Iowa and the principles our nation was founded upon. I have worked for several presidential campaigns, but none have the organization, passion, and focus of the Santorum campaign," Goff said in a statement. "This is a refreshing reminder of what voters require of candidates for the highest office in the land, and I am honored to join the Santorum team!"
Goff, who will manage operations in central Iowa for the Santorum campaign, worked on Fred Thompson's 2008 presidential campaign and Terry Branstad's 2010 gubernatorial campaign.
Cain will make his first trip to Iowa since the straw poll this weekend, to attend the Iowa Faith and Freedom Forum in Des Moines.
Meanwhile who is leading in the IA polls?
I like Santorum, but this is much to do about nothing.
There may have also been an issue of better pay and more responsibility. I’ve seen Iowa field reps hop and jump around like grasshoppers going from candidate to candidate.
If Herman Cain is on a roll, why would she make the move NOW to join Santorum’s campaign?
I believe Santorum isn't rolling in dough.
How’s it working out, Tina.
Herman Cain has surged into an eight-point lead over his nearest Republican rival in first-in-the-nation Iowa, an exclusive Newsmax/InsiderAdvantage poll released on Monday shows. The former pizza magnate is supported by 26 percent of voters who say they will vote for him in the Hawkeye State GOP caucus, compared to 18 percent who opt for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. The surprising numbers come just two months after the popular Ames Iowa Straw Poll where Cain ranked fifth among the top-tier candidates, taking 1,456 votes to winner Michele Bachmann’s 4,823 votes. Cain alos is running second behind Romney in New Hampshire, according to a separate Newsmax poll in that state. Combined, the two polls confirm that with the clock ticking on the primary season, Cain is now the clear favorite among conservatives who are determined to defeat Romney for the nomination. Better yet, Jamie Dupree is talking to Boortz right now about how weird the support for Cain is even though he has no recognizabe effort in Nevada and especially in Iowa. He just can’t get over it.
I get it! and so do the 45% in the Zogby poll with Mittens at 21%. Their heads are exploding!
Not sure, but Santorum is definitely NOT on a roll. Perhaps just a personal decision that means little else beyond that, or a resume builder to have worked on TWO campaigns instead of one?
No big deal...both are non-electable but one sings better.
Right but when your candidate sucks four ways from Sunday, you grasp at these staws as you have nothing left and damned little positive to say about your own candidate.
She quit on Cain in June. It’s not like she just left Cain for Santorum.
I know. That’s why I said why NOW?
Maybe it is simply because she needs work and the Santorum campaign made an offer.

This kind of thing reminds me of the idiots who came out with "diva" stories about Sarah Palin after the 2008 election. It said a lot more about them than Sarah Palin.
Any time I've ever started a new job, it was just understood that you don't trash the old one. Doesn't matter what the field. It's just unprofessional.
I have had the situation where someone isn’t working out and have had to let them go.
A good business person won’t ruin the career of an employee so the process is that they are given notice and move on to another job.
I suspect this has happened since she’s not been invited to the join the Perry or Romney staff.
There is usually more than meets the eye when an employee leaves a successful venture.
JMHO
Staffers gotta eat. Has nothing to do with Cain.
