The Obama administration will not implement a controversial piece of the healthcare reform law, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said Friday.
Sebelius said the department will not continue trying to implement the CLASS program, which was intended to provide insurance for long-term care. Republicans charged that the program’s financial structure was unsustainable, and Sebelius conceded as much Friday.
“We have not identified a way to make CLASS work at this time,” she wrote on the Huffington Post's website.
Sebelius said HHS will “suspend” implementation of the program.
The department recently reassigned the people it had placed in the CLASS office, following the release of emails showing that HHS officials had raised concerns about the program’s viability even before it became law.
My very first thought about this was why in hell Sebelius is announcing this on Friday via the Huffing and Puffington Post.

Exactly my thought. What gives some bureaucrat the authority to strike out part or all of a law passed by Congress.. This is not a pick and choose deal. They passed the hateful thing, now lets see them defend it. Enough of these wavers and the rest of the closed door modifications. It’s completely unconstitutional activity.

There is no money for implementation (no payroll) and there are state laws and a Supreme Court suit pending against the “law” itself. And then there are Humble Master’s favorables falling to 38%. Sebiliusssssss has suspended the program but not reversed the “law”. All this, just in time for the election race, as Rush predicted. Oh, my.
we know that telling people that it's FREE! even though it is waaay more expensive for lower quality service was to make it difficult to remove. The Left does not give one iota about the health of Americans, if they did there would not be an industry based upon the murder of unborn Americans.
