Gov. Perry Unveils Jobs Plan (FULL TRANSCRIPT)
Cypress Times ^ | Oct 14, 2011 | Rick Perry

Pittsburgh: Gov. Rick Perry's Full Remarks on Energizing American Jobs

The central issue facing Americans is a lack of jobs.

The plan I present this morning, Energizing American Jobs and Security, will kick-start economic growth and create 1.2 million jobs.

It can be implemented quicker and free of Washington gridlock because it doesn't require congressional action. Through a series of executive orders, and other executive actions, we will begin the process of creating jobs soon after the inauguration of a new president.

The quickest way to give our economy a shot in the arm is to deploy American ingenuity to tap American energy. But we can only do that if environmental bureaucrats are told to stand down.

Why not just eliminate congress? Checks and balances are for sissies.

“his stance on the border was the final straw for me.”

Oh, really? You mean you don’t want the border secured? Perry is very strong on border security.

Or did you fall for the out-and-out LIES that many propagate here, claiming the opposite of his real stance and RECORD.

Rick Perry, Governor of Texas

http://governor.state.tx.us/initiatives/border/

Governing Principle

There can be no homeland security without border security, and there can be no higher priority than protecting our citizens.

While our focus begins with preventing the worst of the violence currently raging in northern Mexico from spilling over into the United States, the violence is only part of the destruction that can result from a porous border. The free flow of drugs, weapons and people resulting from inadequate security can undercut economic development, education and trade. As such, they can hurt Texas families in every way imaginable, from loss of jobs to the loss of family members to addiction, imprisonment or death.

Border security is a federal responsibility but a Texas problem, and Texas has invested hundreds of millions of state dollars in efforts to support and supplement security forces already in place. Still, this is a problem that will only be solved with more federal accountability and involvement.

Highlights

» Starting in 2005 with Operation Linebacker, the state has sought to provide funding, manpower and equipment to local law enforcement agencies operating along the Texas-Mexico border.

» The state’s latest operation, Border Star, builds on the successes of previous operations with unprecedented local, state and federal law enforcement coordination. With the assistance of the 80th and 81st Legislatures, the State of Texas has been able to appropriate more than $110 million each session to fund and amplify these efforts.

» In response to a rising tide of gang violence in Texas communities, the Governor allocated $4 million in criminal justice grants to cities across the state to increase patrols of gang hotspots. In 2009, Gov. Perry worked to secure more than $10 million in state funding for enhanced anti-gang efforts during the 2010-11 biennium.

» In September 2009, Gov. Perry announced the formation of highly-skilled Ranger Recon Teams — which include Texas Rangers, Texas National Guard Counterdrug forces, Highway Patrol and DPS Aviation assets — in order to address threats building in the unincorporated areas along the Texas-Mexico border.

» Since early 2009, Gov. Perry has repeatedly called on Washington to authorize the deployment of 1,000 Title 32 National Guard soldiers to the Texas-Mexico border to support border security operations currently underway. (see letter to President Obama, letter to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and request to Defense Secretary Gates)

» Gov. Perry has also recommended an expeditious deployment of unmanned aerial vehicles to provide real-time surveillance and intelligence to law enforcement on the ground.

You do know that under Perry Texas has spent and done more than any other state on border control, right? There are a bunch of Romney supporters and dems here who are trying to stir up hysteria with their lies. Btw, Romney proudly passed the Massachusetts dream act when he was governor, and nobody ever questions him about that. You’re being manipulated.

I very much agree with your post #56.

Perry screwed up. Whoever his consultants/advisers are should be put up against a wall and shot. But Perry himself has also fallen short.

I agree with your conclusion, “ I think, we all have to consider Cain”

I have not been a big Cain supporter but I strongly believe in conservative unity in this election. If that’s who conservatives are rallying around, I have to join the rally. Despite my doubts. And I have big doubts.

Again, I believe Perry would make the best president of all candidates now running. But I believe he can’t win.

Here’s a link to your post. I’m saving it for future reference:

This is absolutely correct but now pretty much irrelevant.

"Conservatives" have bought the MSM-generated lies about Perry, and Perry himself is as articulate as Bush on Xanax.

It's over for Perry. But your point is still absolutely true. And worth remembering.

BS READ the sourced doc. They are Laffers words.

You Cainiacs can DENY your pathetic little candidates REAL plan but Laffer has a long history.
Someone that considers Keynes and some Muslim from the 13th century (?) is not my idea of a serious source for American economy.

Funny Laffer was not that big of deal DURING the Reagan Years.

Your pathetic little attacks by your lying cadre doesn’t change the fact that Cain is a charlatan. STICK IT TO THE MIDDLE CLASS AND REWARD HIS CORPORATE BUDDIES. Plus Laffer must have been behind clintons mad rush to outsource American Jobs. But hey he’s Cain’s go to guy.

We do keep posting FACTS. But it seems that the anti-Perry elements keep ignoring FACTS, no matter how much and how often we post them.

FACT: Texas has a business friendly climate of low taxes, low regulations, that’s why it created nearly as many jobs as all other states put together.

For details and detailed FACTS:

http://www.politicalmathblog.com/?s=perry

A few posts above I posted his REAL record on border security - he has been doing everything possible, as governor, to secure the border.

I agree with your bottom-line.

No vote for Romney.

Vote for the most viable conservative.

Right now, as much as I hate to admit it, the most viable conservative is Cain.

I am very depressed to see our candidates now. When Perry came, I was ready to settle for him. Saw his ads and it was one of the best. May be perry has one last chance on tuesday. Let us see

I would like to hear more about Cain’s foreign policy and more drilling on his 999 plan.

The minute Romney becomes a candidate, they are going to destroy him with Romney care. Why our stupid republican establishment don’t realize it?

I agree that you have been posting facts. You, shield, CW and a few others have been doing great work on FR.

I admire all of you.

It makes me sad that Perry himself (as a candidate, not as a governor) has failed all of you so miserably. And as for Perry’s advisers, I deeply, deeply hate them. I think they have committed the political equivalent of negligent homicide.

I wish them all the absolute worst.

As for me, I’m moving on. I believe in conservative unity in this primary and that unity is not going to happen with Perry. It’s just not.

If Cain really does have a chance to stop Romney, I’m going to do what I can to assist his efforts.

*you dont have a heart* hurt him badly with conservatives

It is funny how an offhand comment made to Mitt Romney during a debate has caused so much pain and suffering to so many overly sensitive conservatives, who have no trouble calling everybody they disagree with RINOS, and muslim-lovers, and worse.

Cain called me insensitive for not being upset about some stupid rock -- but I don't go around whining about how Cain thinks I'm insensitive toward blacks, or use it as my tag line. Maybe because I'm just not sensitive enough to be hurt by poeple suggesting I'm something I'm not in the course of trying to win an election.

His apology of course means nothing to the perpetually hurt.

Seriously, it's just a lot easier for them to scream "he called me heartless" than to acknowledge the argument, and explain how they disagree with it. That is a lot of what passes for debate these days.

I fail to see how it's a disqualifying statement for Perry to use as an argument that if you could look an 18-year-old american-speaking, american-loving honor student who has lived here since she was 2-years-old, and tell her that because her parents snuck over the border in 1994, even though we've done NOTHING to throw them out, that she can't go to the college she was accepted to (because while she can afford in-state tuition, which would cover the state costs of the college, she can't afford the out-of-state premium) and instead should get the hell out of our country and go back to Mexico where she has never been since 2 and knows nobody, that you are pretty heartless.

Obviously, you could ARGUE the point, explain why it is NOT in fact "heartless". You could explain how the compassionate thing to do is to throw them out, or to deny them college. You coudl explain how you have plenty of heart, but not for kids who are here illegally, even though it's not their fault. That is called debate, and it's a good thing -- trying to dismiss the argument by deflecting it with a "you hurt my feelings, you are a bad person" argument is silly.

Actually, I fail to see how that argument is any worse than any of the arguments we have here every day, where when you say something, and someone disagrees with you, they will say "If you could possibly argue for THAT, you can't be a conservative, you must be a liberal-loving RINO". Is saying someone doesn't have a heart worse than saying they aren't a conservative? Is it worse than saying I'm insensitive to black people?

Anyway, he apologized for the argument, which was the right political thing to do. It just amazes me how many freepers are still willing to cast themselves as sensitive souls with easily hurt feelings, as if that is a positive trait.

Well, there was a freeper that was telling everybody that Rick Perry himself PAINTED the word “n*ggerhead” on the rock, and when others tried to correct that freeper, that freeper called them all liars.

SO there’s at least one “conservative lie” about Perry that has been pushed here at FR.

Because the Republican establishment doesn't care about winning the presidency, they care about preserving the status quo in the Republican establishment.

That's all that matters to them. Filthy pigs like Karl Rove don't care if a strong Marxist like Obama is running the country as long as he, Karl Rove, gets unlimited talking time on Fox News, unlimited dinner and party invitations, unlimited speaking engagements, and unlimited "respect" by the powers that be.

It's not just Karl Rove, of course. There's a whole big sty of little piggies in the Republican Establishment.

I'm just bringing up Rove as an example.

He doesn't give a crap about the presidency. He just wants the Tea Parties to go away so that he can retain his "crown" as Republican Genius.

Executive orders to repeal executive orders and regulations adopted by Executive branch agencies. That’s an excellent way to quickly make effective changes without having to struggle for months and years through congressional legislation.

Wake up and smell the coffee. Don’t read 10 words of a transcript and come to an absurd conclusion. You’re a conservative. Act like one. Read the transcript and then let’s discuss a conclusion.

Honest disagreement is one thing. That was an unfortunate choice of words. Folks have forgotten, however. Perry apologized, albeit late. It serves no good purpose at this point for some conservatives to hold a grudge. The issue that is taking its toll on Perry is the in-state tuition. But that should not be a disqualifying factor. Imo, its more Perry’s abysmal debate performances that have cratered his campaign. When errors or mistakes are made, political candidates must be able to talk their way out of a paper bag. Debate experience helps build a stronger candidate. Campaigns are controlled chaos and a good staff helps to keep things focused.
