Interior Secretary Ken Salazar has been pressuring the National Park Service to locate sites related to the histories of women and minorities, particularly Latinos, which could be added to the National Register of Historic Places or otherwise preserved as parks or properties.
According to the Washington Post:
With the nation's Latino population booming and now the country's largest minority group, the Obama administration's top Hispanic official is concerned that the federal government is not giving enough attention to Hispanic history and culture.
Salazar bemoaned the paucity of such locations:
Less than three percent of all the national landmarks that we have the highest designation you can receive as a historic landmark are designated for women, Latinos, African Americans or other members of minority groups. That tells you that the score is not even....
I think when you look at the way Americans most understand the history of Latinos in this country, a lot of it is being told now through the lens of whats happening with the immigration debate. While thats an important debate that has security and moral implications, in my view, theres also a huge history of Latinos in the United States thats never been told.

The line forms to the Left, Salazar behind all the other racist pig “minority” groups.
There are already are sites related to latinos. The Alamo and San Jacinto, and thats right off the top of my head.
Sooo...now historical landmarks are racist too?
Then he should move back to Mexico. They have a whole bunch there I bet.
Where’s the Dutch-named parks?
Better yet they could rename it Brownstone.
Most of those parks should not be sold, because they are in effect, stolen goods. As such, they should be returned to their rightful owners, the individual States from which they were taken.
OK...better yet.
How do they enter the park? Do they come through the fence 400 yards away from the front gate and not pay the park fee? or do we simply waive the fee and let them come in through the front gate? What exactly is a theme that they discuss?
SOBs
San Gabriel River site too, where the Mexican army lost the final battle of the Mexican-American war.
California Missions, where the Spanish and their lackey’s brutalized the indigenous Native American populations.
The dismembered head of Joaquin Murietta is prominently displayed in a
Museum somewhere.
Jeez, what do the pandering democraps want?
I propose the Gun Walker Trail.
Yah, we have the Alamo. There must be other places where we whupped the Mexicans. There was a big battle here in Los Angeles. . Maybe we could make downtown part of the National Park system too? We also killed some banditos — Vasquez. We already have Vasquez Rocks park. Then there was that place up in northern California where a few Californians TOOK California from Mexico and made us an independent country, just for the year. What more do they want?
Thinking about this, we have lots and lots of Hispanic-themed parks in NYC, when you look at who uses them...and on the annual Puerto Rican pride day, they quite literally take over Manhattan.
I’m of Asian ascent. Maybe we need more Asian themed Parks..........oh, yeah, we have the USS Arizona........
Well let’s see they already have the Alamo and they can visit San Jacinto Battleground State Park which I advise them to do to learn a little about the reality of war - to paraphrase our Resident in chief - We won!
