Alternate headline: Republicans really, really, really dont want to nominate Mitt Romney.
Strong Tea Party support has Cain in the drivers seat nationally, just as he has been on our last four individual state polls. With non-Tea Party Republicans Romney actually leads Cain 29-27. But with the Tea Party crowd Cain is getting 39% with Gingrich at 16%, Perry at 14%, and Romney in 4th place at 13%. Romney doesnt need to win the Tea Partiers to be the Republican nominee. But he does need to finish better than 4th with them.
There are indications within the poll that Cains stay at the top could be short lived. Only 30% of his supporters are solidly committed to him with 70% saying they might still go on to support someone else. Those numbers arent much better for Romney, who only has 31% of his supporters solidly committed, or Gingrich, who only has 34% solidly committed. The strongest base of support among the Republican front runners- even if its shrinking- is Perrys- 48% of his remaining backers say theyll definitely vote for him. Overall 70% of Republicans are either undecided right now or open to voting for someone different than who theyre with now- that signals an extremely wide open race
If the race came down to a two way match between Cain and Romney, Cain leads 48-36. Cain would pick up Bachmann, Gingrich, Perry, and Santorums supporters. Romney would get Huntsman and Pauls. Cain would absolutely crush Perry in a head to head, 55-27.

” It just shows what a bunch of closet leftists they all are.”
Nah....They’re libertarians......either former Democrats who’ve quit smoking dope, or former Republicans that have started smoking dope!
Peace!/s
(si vi pacum, parabellum)
Amen. Preach on brother! Bttt
He would normally need 2/3 of congress, but he relies on the “Super Committee” in his plan.
How about “Heartless Racists for Cain”?
Cain want a FLAT TAX. whether its 999 or something else. Half of us pay taxes half do not.
Everyone needs a dog in this hunt.
Try raising the tax WHEN EVERYONE PAYS!!!!
I’m with you. I know a number of Paul supporters and none of them would flip to Romney. The second choice I hear most from them is Cain.
How about not pointing out his or his supporters race at all? That garbage is race politics, conservatives should be above that. WGAF if Cain is black?
Love your bumper sticker. I already posted it on facebook and it’s already been liked and shared!
I can understand why Romney would get Huntsman’s 3 voters, but why would Paul’s voters go to him? ...Cain needs financial support now.
I signed up for the Cain team to get their email info. I’ve received several emails from local organizers and I’m getting ready to commit precious time to seeing this guy get nominated.
Beep-Beep
If some don’t drop out soon they will split the vote which gives Romney a win.
Love it...
Thanks RobinMasters.
Since racial relations has injected itself into the political world, it’s kind of difficult to ignore. Racial unification themes are welcome at a time like this, even though it would be very stupid to make that the entirety of the message of a candidate like Cain.
Great definition of a libertarian!
Good deal.
I ain’t doing what they want me to do any ****in’ more.
Exactly! Romney can be EASILY defeated if the conservatives are aligned behind someone. The varying allegiances need to end soon if we're to have a chance!
Perry’s looking a lot like Romney looked in 2008 — spent jillions and only had second fiddle to show for it. Cain will likely stay comfortably ahead of Romney this political season.
