Herman Cain refused to wade into the controversy over whether it is accurate to call Mitt Romney a Christian or not.
Im not running for theologian in chief, he said on CNNs State of the Union this morning. Im a lifelong Christian and what that means is one of my guiding principles for the decisions I make is I start with do the right thing. Im not getting into that controversy. Hes a Mormon. That much I know. Im not going to do an analysis of Mormonism vs. Christianity for the sake of answering that.
When CNN host Candy Crowley pressed him, saying it appeared he was dodging the question, Cain remained adamant. If that what it looks like, Im dodging it because its not going to help us boost this economy and you know thats my number one priority, he said.
Asked about comments that no one lacking political experience could win the White House, including those made at Larry Sabatos Crystal Ball site (A Cain nomination would be an aberration of historic proportions: American political parties typically dont nominate people without previous officeholding experience for president.), Cain pushed back.
Get ready for an aberration of historic proportions, and heres why. I give dozens of speeches a week, Cain said, noting that he had been to Iowa 24 times and that the idea he was ignoring Iowa was simply a misperception.
When I give speeches to rallies, town hall meetings, whatever the audience, no matter how big or small, and I get to my lack of having held public office, I get a spontaneous applause. Im saying this, the people who are criticizing me because I have not held public office, they are out of touch with the voters out there, Cain argued.
People are saying they like the fact that I have not held public office and they love my concrete, specific ideas about how we need to fix this economy and the other problems, he said.
He also struck back at the stories that he was ditching his campaign temporarily to promote his book This is Herman Cain!
I can promote a book and campaign at the same time, he chuckled.
If it weren’t for the “ooops, another egoist already claimed that”, I might fall for the “satire bit”.
And if it were satire, you’re not very good at it.
It’s great because it’s media savvy and common sense. We need some common sense right now and he’s got plenty of it.
born December 13, 1945 in Memphis, TN (Meets the Jus Soli Requirement)
Parents were
Luther Cain Jr., born March 16, 1925 in TN, died March 29, 1982 in Atlanta, GA
Lenora Davis, born July 27, 1925 in GA, died August 20, 2005 in Atlanta, GA
Both parents were US Citizens at the time of his birth (Meets the Jus Sanguinis Requirement)
Herman Cain is a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN
Barry Soetoro aka Barack Hussein Obama ISN'T!
Frankly, tiresomenvirginia, this one doesn't much care. Mormon beliefs aside, to many he just comes off as plastic and calculated as a non-Mormon TV preacher promising blessings for bucks. (This, incidentally, should not be interpreted as a slam against Christian ministers in general who happen to have televised programs; I'll leave it to you to decide who fits the description)
Cain doesn't have to "go after" Romney for the contrast to be startling and impressive.
Ummm, that’s Candy COW-ly... just hang a bell around her neck and you’ve got a cow wearing lipstick...
That is my concern as well.
If he is serious about his run, he needs to line up big donors and get campaign chiefs in all the states. He hasn't done much of either yet.
If he proves he is serious, I'll go all in for him. If he is just going through the motions, then Romney is the main guy who benefits because he is the best funded and best organized.
Since a Romney candidacy would be a disaster for the country, I hope Cain starts making some concrete moves very soon in order to build the infrastructure he is going to need to go all the way.
Didn’t anyone ever tell you that “satire” is what closes on Saturday night? LOL.
Right now, I’m with Cain. I don’t think that he has a prayer of winning the nomination, but he is someone whom I’d be proud to call my President. So, that’s good enough for now. Bob
Hey! Watch it Buster! The noble cow is a beast upon which our great nation was built. If it were not for grazing lands in the West nobody would have moved there. And the battle of Stonington was the only time the British attacked a coastal town in CT as they were looking to take cattle.
Don't insult the blessed bovine by comparing them to Candy Crowley.
It is just more of his self promotion.
He is good at this stuff. When he went in to talk to the Godfathers people the first time they had their arms crossed and were mad. After 3 HOURS of preaching from Cain they gave him a standing O. One problem it was all a lie. He turned around a closed stores and fired 500 employees.
Cain has a logic and rationalization problem.
This is a good example.
Response to Herman Cain on The Perfect Conservative
Title of this response: It is the perfect conservatives whom Jesus condemned most
Herman Cain wrote:
He helped the poor without one government program. He healed the sick without a government health care system. He feed the hungry without food stamps. And everywhere He went, it turned into a rally, attracting large crowds, and giving them hope, encouragement and inspiration. For three years He was unemployed, and never collected an unemployment check. Nevertheless, he completed all the work He needed to get done. He didnt travel by private jet. He walked and sailed, and sometimes traveled on a donkey.
So I guess the perfect conservatives want a government that only help the rich yet let the middle class and the poor go broke and die when they get sick; they want a government that only bailouts the bankers yet leave the working people high and dry when they lose their job; they want a government that only gives tax welfare to the rich yet let the unfortunates starve to death without even food stamps. Talking about hypocrites, this is what the perfect conservatives stand for.
About the perfect conservatives who took pride in professing Gods name, this is what Jesus said:
The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses seat. So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other peoples shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them. (Matthew 23:2-4)
To the perfect conservatives who take pride in professing Gods name, this is what Jesus said:
Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when you have succeeded, you make them twice as much a child of hell as you are.
Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spicesmint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the lawjustice, mercy and faithfulness.
Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.
Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?
(Matthew 23:13-37)
It was the perfect conservatives the theocratic ruling class and religious elite of the day whom Jesus condemned in such severeness; and consequently it was they who wanted Jesus to be killed. They handed Jesus to the liberal Roman governor Pontius Pilate. When Pilate could not find any guilt in Jesus and wanted to release Him, those perfect conservatives urged the governor to crucify Him, or they would not consider him loyal to Caesar (John 19:12). Of course, the liberal governor did not have any backbone to stand for Jesus, as he was a worldly man, so he executed Jesus in order to appease the perfect conservatives .
This situation seems still replaying today again and againthe perfect conservative Republicans vs. the liberal Democrats.
So be careful you perfect conservatives when you invoke Jesus name. It is a serious crime to misuse Gods name for worldly agenda and political gain!

This poor liberal is a little over the top but he/she is making some good points about the arrogance of Cains claims.
Reagan couldn't have put it any better.
And an actual rocket scientist to boot?
Thank You ladies and gentlemen!
The good news is, I am keeping my day job
The really good news is try the veal, it’s on special this week
Now. Back to Cain being a historic aberration, in his humble opinion?
The skills necessary to be a politician are greatly over-rated, especially by pundits and politicians themselves. Too many politicians are nothing but second-rate lawyers who couldn’t earn a good living practicing law and jumped on the public gravy train of politics they are not rocket scientists.
The criticism of Cain’s lack of political experience is absurd at its core. Many years of bad experience can be much worse than having no experience. Just look how Washington is being run today by all these so-called ‘experienced’ political hacks. Much of Cain’s appeal to me is his not being a politician. He has more than ample skills necessary to lead and that is what is lacking in Washington today: common sense conservative leadership. We don’t need another ‘experienced’ politician. Give me a leader and screw the politicians.
My... Someone forgot their shot of Prune Juice this morning now didn't they !
He answered the questions given to him....."Asked about comments that no one lacking political experience could win the White House, including those made at Larry Sabatos Crystal Ball site(A Cain nomination would be an aberration of historic proportions: American political parties typically dont nominate people without previous officeholding experience for president.), Cain pushed back."
I pinged MrB because of a reply from him to me...."It stands to reason that after the HUGE aberration that was 2008, that the correction will also be huge as well.

Perhaps you misunderstand the principle of self reliance, hard work and being prepared for adversities.
You seem to be an advocate for mandatory tithing to the Government.
Do you not subscribe to the adage of teaching a man to fish rather than giving him a dead fish?
Huh?
I read the article several times. I don’t even know how you can possibly see this in that interview excerpt.
Weird.
