"...It probably irks Mitt to have to discuss his faith in this way, but the Mormon debate could be of net benefit to his campaign.
...True, there is a small but significant minority who say they would never vote for a Mormon. According to Gallup, its around 22 percent of the population. But opposition to Mormonism doesnt come from conservative Evangelicals or Catholics. On the contrary, Gallups polls show that its a liberal thing. Only 7 percent of Baptists and Catholics wouldnt vote for a Mormon, compared with 32 percent of gays and 49 percent of atheists. Amusingly, the figure is also much, much higher among Mormons, at 22 percent. Thats right, 22 percent of Mormons would never vote for a Mormon. Perhaps they know something we dont."

Whatever. Most Mormons believe in Christ the savior, son of god who died for their sins and salvation. Get past that and most don’t know jack else just like most of the approved churches on your list.
I have friends that are Baptist, Methodist, Catholics and even slipped up and let a Church of Christ get in my circle of friends. On the basics they all appear to be Christians but I don’t know their hearts like God does.
Personally, the last church I attended regularly was Baptist. Mostly I worship with my family in different ways depending on the season but still wander back a dozen or so times a year.
Then he wouldn't be much of a MUSLIM; would he (she)?
You spout off - name these "Christians" confab.
You forgot to answer this one:
“Please, reaganaut, explain the Doctrine of Original Sin and its origins. Be certain to provide Biblical proofs. Also is sin nature the same as Original Sin?”
And you never got to this one either. I await your scholarship.
“I will defer to you then. Please define:
God
begotten
virgin
where Christ took the sins upon himself
Using the Bible with appropriate verse references and the Hebrew and Greek definitions of the above. No eisegsis now, sister.”
I suppose that's why she posted this. It draws out the bigots, like mud on a snakebite.
The Bible does talk about her conception. It is specific about it because it is a most incredible event.
Look up the Greek for begotten. Here, I'll do it for you as your scholarship is wanting:
gennaó: to beget, to bring forth
Original Word: γεννάω
Part of Speech: Verb
Transliteration: gennaó
Phonetic Spelling: (ghen-nah'-o)
Short Definition: I beget, bring forth, give birth to
Definition: I beget (of the male), (of the female) I bring forth, give birth to.
That should clarify the matter for you and stop your dissembling on this issue. But, wait! There's more:
Then said Mary unto the angel How shall this be seeing I know not a man
Go to the site and do a word by word search to get the implications of Luke 1:35. There is nothing prurient in the conception of Jesus. It is in its proper context sacred. Of course, the Scriptures never call Mary a virgin again.
You couldn't be more wrong.
You avoided replying to the over 40 posts which are indictments of Mormon theology.
I don't have to reply to any of them, ever. I don't need to defend the theology of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I simply look at where it hits perfectly with the Word of God aka the Bible.
Please peruse my postings and you'll see I've refuted many equivocations posted by the anti-Mormon contingent of Free Republic. Ours must be the pursuit of truth, no matter where it leads. The LDS more often than not hit it out of the park and spectacularly so. Why not educate yourself by starting here:
Now, how many illiterate country bumpkins were talking theosis in America in the 1800s? You've got to give Joseph Smith some credit. How many Orthodox know about theosis? Catholics? Yet it is all part of their belief system.
Weak, My Dear Brother. You and I are spirits and we animate a body, no?
Furthermore, we get our bodies back, perfected, at the Resurrection, no?
Plus, we are made in God’s image and likeness, no?
What’s God’s likeness?
God sits and Jesus stands. Jesus was bodily resurrected. Angels (God’s messengers) can be seen. Heaven is an actual location. Jacob embraced God, etc., etc., etc.
The Bible fully supports a physical body for God the Father, Jesus Christ and us. Please read it, plainly, and leave the eisegesis at home.
Why didn’t God just mercifully start over and just reset the Garden? Why let Adam and Eve decide the fate of the rest of us?
If the Devil took advantage of the innocent naivete of Eve, why punish me for it? Start over and put us all back into the Garden in Eden.
Unless, there is another purpose to the Garden, Eve’s and then Adam’s actions and the introduction of sin into the world we inhabit during our mortality.
Lesson 1: This Is My Work and My Glory
That's how it is taught and viewed. So any deviation from that path would be an abomination in the eyes of God. That's the correct meaning and interpretation. Just as the anti-Mormons see the LDS as an 'abomination' of their version of Christianity. See here:
Lying lips are abomination to the LORD but they that deal truly are his delight
or here:
Abomination NT Greek as in:
Sorry, missed it. you can do your own research, I am not your dog.
I am not your sister.
I responded: The Bible does talk about her conception. It is specific about it because it is a most incredible event.
The Bible doesn't talk about "the conception of Mary." IOW, How MARY's herself was conceived. I was talking about HER -- because you phrased it as if you were talking about HER. "The conception of Mary" has to do with the jumpstart of Mary's life.
So, again, why are you talking about the "conception of Mary?" The conception of Jesus? Yeah, I can understand talking about that, but the conception of Mary? Like I said, the Bible doesn't talk about that.
You just flunked home school 101 on a getting a basic English sentence right.
You know if you read the book of Romans carefully...you'll get the answer:
12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through ONE man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because ALL sinned 13 To be sure, sin was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not charged against anyones account where there is no law. 14 Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who is a pattern of the one to come. 15 But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the ONE man, how much more did Gods grace and the gift that came by the grace of the ONE man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many! 16 Nor can the gift of God be compared with the result of ONE mans sin: The judgment followed ONE sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed MANY trespasses and brought justification. 17 For if, by the trespass of the ONE man, death reigned through that ONE man, how much more will those who receive Gods abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the ONE man, Jesus Christ!
18 Consequently, just as ONE trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also ONE righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people. 19 For just as through the disobedience of the ONE man the MANY were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the ONE man the many will be made righteous. (Romans 5:12-19)
Is it because of your Mormon works-righteousness orientation that you can neither...
...understand how the one man's obedience (Jesus) brought salvation to All of us?
...and neither understand how the one man's disobedience brought conmdemnation to all of us?
You're so wrapped up in individual righteousness...
...individual boy scout badges...
...individual worthiness...
...that you can't see that God judges us righteous only through Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 1:30). We are "worthy" ONLY in Christ! Our sin nature was in Adam. Our righteousness is in Christ. There is NO OTHER alternative to reading Romans 5:12-19!!!
The One act of Jesus is our salvation -- just like the one act of Adam was our tremendous loss. But Jesus trumps the loss...that is, if you accept His righteousness in your life over your own.
Study up Romans 5 very carefully, my friend. Look how much the action of "one" set in motion so much...through Adam for evil...through Jesus for absolute wonderment!
Sorry, there 1010.
I was born in SLC and have Mormon Family. I am also a serious
Christian who understands the preposterous “theology” fabricated by the con man, glass looking, snake oil selling charlatan who made the whole thing up.
I am very sorry for you as your are completely deceived.
