I watched Herman in this interview, and he said he was not going to get into a religious discussion. He was running for president, not to be the theologian-in-chief. There were too many other important issues. He wasn’t going to waste his time discussing differences in Theology. Perfect answer to Candy’s loaded question.

I was at the VVS, and a question occurred to me after I heard Jeffress speak. I hear all these evangelical preachers--heads of mega-churches--making political speeches, declaring this person theologically worthy of support, that person unworthy of support. I cannot ever reading in any news account of a leader of the Mormon church doing the same thing on the national stage. Do they not get involved in politics?

And I'm wondering if they DID make public speeches on the national stage about the same sorts of things, how would the evangelical community respond? I have a hunch not well.

So please someone, tell this agnostic conservative, where in the hell does a evangelical mega-church pastor get off telling people on a national stage which candidate is holy enough to vote for and which candidate is going to hell? That is so arrogant.

He may think he's speaking for God, but if he is, he and his God can go pound sand.

Theology aside, I think the rectitude of the Mormons is admirable.

Once again, Romney HIDES as he plays his Mormon card
to evade his RINO behavior and cover his opponents
with innuendo (the RomneyWAY).

I don’t think Mormons are Christians, but I also don’t think its relevant. As a group, Mormons are good solid people and the US benefits from having them.

Mitt’s religion has nothing to do with why I am not very enthusiastic about him. If Romney were an actual, real conservative, I’d like him better even if he worshiped a giant cockroach. Romney’s problem is he is a flip flopping chameleon. He may be far more conservative than he’s let on, but we have no way of knowing since political expediency seems to be his calling card.

“Better to be ruled by a wise Turk than a foolish Christian” - Luther.

Most Christians of any piety would not answer that question about anybody since there are only two persons that know.

That said, are the LDS a cult? By most theological and religious definitions the answer is yes. Based on definitions by the secular media the answer is know.

When I answer the question I always qualify my answer by defining what I believe the term “cult” to mean.

Mormonism is not Christianity.Period.
I’m against mittens because he is a liberal, not because he’s a Mormon.

There are 6 LDS members in the senate 4 pubbies and 2 demonrats. The most conservative by aca rating is Crapo at 92.70 Hatch comes in at 89.47. Reid 17.89 and Udall 4.46 are the D versions, Two have not been in office long enough to have record yet Lee & Heller. Looking at this it seems that LDS elected officials tend to be fairly extreme on both sides. With mitt’s track record I see him closer to Reid’s politics than any kind of conservative

I would prefer a Christian as president. It is not required either by the constitution or by me. Romney can be a Mormon / LDS as long as he doesn't want to try to change an overwhelming Christian nation into a Mormon nation. I doubt this is his intention. Being a Mormon doesn't make him a bad person, quite the contrary. It also doesn't make him a Christian. I have not heard him claim to be a Christian.
I haven't heard him admit to wearing the magic underpants either, but I bet he does. As long as he doesn't try to force the magic underpants on to the rest of us, I don't care. But it is weird!

How about someone asking Romney if Joseph Smith taught that all other religions are abominations.

For me it’s Romney’s policies that matter, not his Mormonism.

Who gives a fudge. I don’t care if the man is a snake-handler. He’s a LIBERAL snake-handler and that disqualifies him in my book.

Perry said he doesn't believe Mormonism is a cult.

I'm caring less and less about Perry every time he opens his mouth.
