Most Christians of any piety would not answer that question about anybody since there are only two persons that know.
That said, are the LDS a cult? By most theological and religious definitions the answer is yes. Based on definitions by the secular media the answer is know.
When I answer the question I always qualify my answer by defining what I believe the term “cult” to mean.
As open as I am in my opposition to Mormonism, I don’t blame either of them for not answering. It was a loaded question.
For me Mitt’s religion IS a big deal, because it is part of why he is such a liberal and flip flopper, however the media is just searching for things to attack the conservative candidates on and I’m glad they didn’t bite.
