Herman Cain and Michele Bachmann dodged questions Sunday whether Romney is a Christian. The issue arose during the just-completed Values Voters Summit in Washington, exposing tensions among evangelicals over Romney's religious faith, as we reported today. Dallas Baptist pastor Robert Jeffress kicked things off by endorsing Rick Perry and declaring that Mormonism is a cult and Romney is not a Christian.
Speakers went back and forth on the issue -- and Romney himself weighed in, denouncing "poisonous speech" that doesn't help the nominating process. Asked about Jeffress' comments, Perry said he doesn't believe Mormonism is a cult.

Don't know what fruits you're talking about, but the Mormons I know are damn fine people. Pleasant, helpful, modest, honest, kind, hard-working, generous, family-oriented.
Quite the opposite of some evangelicals I've had the misfortune to come across.
Once again, Romney HIDES as he plays his Mormon card
to evade his RINO behavior and cover his opponents
with innuendo (the RomneyWAY).
I don’t think Mormons are Christians, but I also don’t think its relevant. As a group, Mormons are good solid people and the US benefits from having them.
Mitt’s religion has nothing to do with why I am not very enthusiastic about him. If Romney were an actual, real conservative, I’d like him better even if he worshiped a giant cockroach. Romney’s problem is he is a flip flopping chameleon. He may be far more conservative than he’s let on, but we have no way of knowing since political expediency seems to be his calling card.
Like Romney and Reid?
If he wears the magic underpants, will he effectively defend Israel? If so, then maybe he should have a Hanes factory dedicated to him. Kind of joking, but really things need to be seen in perspective. What would we do with a Jewish candidate for president? We might want to think that one out in advance.
Wright preached Marxism, hatred of whites, hatred of Jews, hatred of America and liberation theology. It is a dangerous religion just as islam is and both are antithetical to Western values in general and American values in particular. The Mormon religion preaches none of those things and is none of those things.
I find the theology and practices of many religions to be goofy and ridiculous, but as long as they're not dangerous, I don't care.
It was prior to 1978 and Mitt was an adult who worshipped that racist doctrine. Just as conservatives asked why Obama sat in Jeremiah Wright's racist church, Mitts should explaind why he worshipped in a racist church.
Proof that Mitt ever “worshipped a doctrine”?
People worship deities. It seems to me you mean to say that Mitt assented to the doctrine, but I’d like to see any proof he did even that. Someone had to be disagreeing, it wasn’t just a fluke of happenstance that LDS officially dropped it in 1978. That’s a whole lot longer ago than Obama sat listening to “God damn America.”
Christians are called to judge false doctrine and heresy. We are called to judge those who claim to be Christians yet don’t follow Christ.
See my tagline. I know first hand that Mormons are NOT Christians, period. Their theology precludes it. Rather than adopt a live and let live attitude, it is more Christian to minister to them as non-believers and convert them to the Christ of the Bible.
I am grateful every single day for those Christians who ‘attacked’ my Mormon faith with the Bible and help to open my eyes and to the Christians (like my now husband) who worked me through the issues and led me to the real Jesus Christ.
Courtesy ping to hubby.
If Mormons believe that Jesus is the son of G-d, then they are Christians.

Demons also believe that...and tremble.
What you believe about Christ and His sacrifice MATTERS and Mormons don’ believe in the Biblical Christ at all.
If you feel it’s an effective part of the ministry to attack such people in the secular political sphere on account of their erroneous beliefs, that’s between you and God, and I can’t argue with it, however I think you should have the straightforwardness to say so. It’s Islam, not Christianity, that is the taqqiya religion. I haven’t seen a single Romney political ad in which he trumpets being either “Christian” or Mormon. If there’s such a thing I’d like to see it.
And believes the Garden of Eden is in Missiouri and that Christ will return to the US and the LDS will be His right hand men.
And that he will earn his godhood and have a planet with wives who have spirit babies from Celestial sex, and have taken an blood oath (wearing the apron of Lucifer’s priesthood) that everything (including money and power) will go to building up the LDS church.
I can go on, but you get the idea, and I can source every one of those things using LDS (Mormon sources).
“Better to be ruled by a wise Turk than a foolish Christian” - Luther.
Most Christians of any piety would not answer that question about anybody since there are only two persons that know.
That said, are the LDS a cult? By most theological and religious definitions the answer is yes. Based on definitions by the secular media the answer is know.
When I answer the question I always qualify my answer by defining what I believe the term “cult” to mean.

Thank you (see tagline). I matters to me too.
Mormonism is not Christianity.Period.
I’m against mittens because he is a liberal, not because he’s a Mormon.
Although there are plenty who don't like Romney's politics, millions of evangelicals will refrain from voting for him solely because he's a mormon.
