White House: Millionaire tax isn’t enough

White House: Millionaire tax isn’t enough Neil Munro -- The Daily Caller 39 mins ago

President Obama wants tax increases on the wealthy, regardless of whether the Democrats’ proposed millionaire tax becomes law, White House spokesman Jay Carney said Friday.

“The president’s position has not changed” since he called for increased tax rates on individuals earning more than $250,000 per year, and for adoption of the “Buffett Rule,” Carney said during his midday press conference.

Under the still-vague “Buffett Rule,” named for multi-billionaire investor Warren Buffett, the government would ensure wealthy people could not use current features of the tax code — such as the relatively low rate on capital gains income — to pay a lower tax rate than ordinary wage earners.

The Senate’s newly proposed 5.6 percent levy on taxpayers earning more than $1 million annually is “apples and oranges” to the president’s tax proposals, Carney said.

“Everyone [should] pay their fair share … it is simply a matter of making sensible choices,” he said.

Carney’s comments came a day after Obama said he was “comfortable” with the Democrats’ millionaire tax.

Democratic Senators from wealthy states have discarded Obama’s $250,000-cutoff proposal, instead pushing for a surtax on millionaires. This approach helpfully positions the White House to run a populist campaign against Wall Street while shielding most of president Obama’s upper-income supporters and donors in the professional and business sectors.

On Thursday, for example, New York Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer described families who earned $250,000 as “firmly” in the middle class. “They are not rich, and in large parts of the country, that kind of income does not get you a big home or lots of vacations or anything else that’s associated with wealth in America,” he said, according to the New York Post.

Obama hates the US to a degree that is a treatable dementia. Bringing us hope and change really means bringing us subjugation and servitude.

That’s pretty much what they did in Soviet Russia.

The people had a saying.

“They pretend to pay us, and we pretend to work.”

But they’ll settle for a couple of coins for Scrooge to rub together, so the old miser has something to enjoy.

No, they care not for Scrooge, they just need something to steal tomorrow after they splurge everything today.

I’m just spit-balling here, but, what if the size and scope of Government was seriously reduced to what the Government was suppose to be from the founding of this country? What if We The People demanded an end to the Fed trying to be everything to everyone, and We The People started doing for ourselves instead? Perhaps then the need for these increases in tax revenue wouldn’t be needed?

“Buffett Tax explained by Buffett isn’t the same as Obama”

Yeah, it probably contains more direct financial benefits to Warren Buffet.

“they just need something to steal tomorrow after they splurge everything today”

You ascribe to them foresight not in evidence.

‘Everyone [should] pay their fair share’
The ‘fair share’ is a subjective matter. I’ll let you know what I think is ‘fair’ by my work behavior.

would these ‘progressives’ only spend the money they already collect in fees, licenses, and taxes (9.12m/gal/day) on infrastructure, we’d have ‘bridges with solid gusset plates as far as the eye can see’.

The government doesn’t need ANY additional money, from ANYONE. They need to learn to stop spending it on crap first. Don’t play their class warfare game. That’s what they want.

The “poor” are doing pretty damn well if you ask me.

For instance, today I watched three young girls, all pregnant, all already had a child, none of them married, go in and get pedicures and manicures (guess who paid for lthose since none of them had jobs). Even one of them let their four year old get the same. BTW, they all had FREE government cell phones too.

Then I went to the grocery store and stood behind more pregnant unmarried “mothers” with carts running over with crap!

I decided I didn’t have time to wait because I had to get back to MY JOB in order to pay for all of their CRAP!

I don’t remember a time in the past where everywhere you looked there was worthless, lazy ass women who couldn’t seem to keep their legs crossed. It doesn’t seem to bother them in the least either that they don’t have a way to make a living other than producing more illegitimate kids with unknown sperm donors!

I remember when it used to be an embarrasment to have A CHILD out of wedlock. NO LONGER!

Death to the millionaires and billionaires.

Financial death only, of course.

But as Madame Dafarge would tell you, there aren't enough.

Move things down to Obama/Biden billionaires, not them, folk above $200m, better, but not enough.

The tax sweet spot is $100m and up, though $75-$100m could add a bit.

A complete "repeal" of the evil Bush tax cuts would go a long way in terms of short term revenue, long term disaster but future biography writers don't worry about that.

Want income tax revenue, you have to go where the collective income is
