abolute control of the distribution of wealth is the goal of the leftist

the tyrannical leftist must demonize and penalize private ownership into submission at every level in order to reach that goal

Under the still-vague “Buffett Rule,” named for multi-billionaire investor Warren Buffett, the government would ensure wealthy people could not use current features of the tax code — such as the relatively low rate on capital gains income — to pay a lower tax rate than ordinary wage earners.

Wealthy people don't pay a lower rate.

Everyone pays 15% on capital gains.

You are seriously showing your age. The last time it was considered embarrassing to have a child out of wedlock was just before the father of the giveaway, Lyndon Baynes Johnson was POTUS. There is no such thing as shame anymore. The reason there is no shame is the total and utter lack of any conscience. There is no recognition or education about good and bad, right and wrong, or the inherent evil that resides in every human. We are reaping what we sowed.

“Everyone [should] pay their fair share … it is simply a matter of making sensible choices,” he said.

When I see the WH talking about getting the 51% in this nation who pay NO FED INCOME TAXES into the reforms, then we can start talking about what is a "FAIR" TAX. This is nothing more than little barry's wealth redistribution plan. The gang on Wall Street and other large Obama led areas of the country are all out doing his bidding for reelection and to take the attention off his utter failure as the leader of the greatest nation on the planet. HE MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE WH.

“Everyone [should] pay their fair share … it is simply a matter of making sensible choices,””

The people who are ‘the rich’ got there by making sensible choices. Thye live responsible lives and should enjoy the fruits of living responsibly. They didn’t get rich through sleeping around, boozing it up, getting pregnant by multiple men, by committing crimes, and also at the same time, doing nothing constructive.

Why not make Hollywood buddies pay more? They surely have mreo than enough?

Try again. The top rate is 33%. By the time you add in state tax hubby and I are up to nearly 40% tax rate. Please tell me just what my “fair share” is. I need to know how much of the money I make working 12 hour days, nights, and holidays I should be giving to those who don’t work but somehow are entitled to the fruits of my labor

DH and I just crack Obamas definition of rich. We paid over 100,000 in federal and state tax last year. There is no more blood in this turnip. Marginal tax rates are over 40% as I am paying tuition at private colleges for 2 of my children. No federally guaranteed loans or grants are available,
we make too much. I can’t wait til kids are out of school. First thing we will do is work less and drop our income, NOT keep working at the same rate and put the extra $ back in the economy. /rant off (temporarily)

We are in the same situation (except only one child) and will be doing the same. The one item you left out was AMT. I call it Alternative Maximum Taking. People don't realize in the 33 and the 35 (maxium) there are diminishing tax right offs for state and local taxes as well as mortgage interest and real estate taxes.

Our tax system is a tax on wealth creation and not wealth.

It is clear there is only "one" government and it is not representative. The government is an occupation.

Does that include the 50% that pay no taxes?

or 0.4% of the population pays 40%

Yet, you don't see these people occupying every major city in the nation with a sign reading "I am the 0.4%" do you?

You are ranting so much you didn’t read my post. I am not for raising taxes. I am for pointing out that Obama’s scheme for raising taxes won’t work. Even if he raises rates people like poster child Warren Buffet still won’t be paying anything close to his tax rate. People will be given even more motivation to avoid taxes how ever they can. That was all I was trying to say.

Sorry. Didn’t mean to imply you were for raising taxes. Just addressing that 28% is far from the highest tax rate

Might be of more benefit to tax monies generated for re-election, now you are speaking of real money

You mean....kinda like the union workers and public sector/government employees have been doing in the US for decades?

Who knew we had that much in common with communist Russia.

"“They pretend to pay us, and we pretend to work.”"

Yes, but the only part that lines up is the “pretend to work” part.

According to our friends in Russia, in 1998 the average starting pay for an engineer was about 30 rubles (about $5 in 1998) per month, and for a heart surgeon in Moscow, about 150 rubles (about $25) per month.

How does that compare with the wages the union sloths in government jobs are getting?

What’s their excuse for not working, other than that their “jobs” are make-believe make-work?
