The Fast and Furious scandal, in which the Justice Department knowingly gave Mexican criminal gangs thousands of guns, just keeps escalating. The latest development centers around whether or not Attorney General Eric Holder lied to Congress about having knowledge of the controversial gun trafficking operation. Recently released documents say Holder was briefed about the operation long before he told the Judiciary Committee he was first aware of what was going on. (Holder now claims he misunderstood the question was being asked.)
What's more, CBS News investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson -- who's been covering the scandal from the beginning -- says in an interview on the Laura Ingraham Show today that the White House and Justice Department have taken to screaming at her for reporting on the story. You can listen to the full interview below, but here are the key excerpts from Attkisson:
In between the yelling that I received from Justice Department yesterday, the spokeswoman--who would not put anything in writing, I was asking for her explanation so there would be clarity and no confusion later over what had been said, she wouldn't put anything in writing--so we talked on the phone and she said things such as the question Holder answered was different than the one he asked. But he phrased it, he said very explicitly, 'I probably heard about Fast and Furious for the first time over the last few weeks.'

How crazy is this world when our government pays and hires people especially to field questions about injustice at the Dept. of Justice and corruption at the seat of the Presidency?Does Obama really need three people much less this Eric Schultz he hired specifically to field questions and handle reporters? Our taxpayer money used in hiring PR people to field and cover Obama’s corruption...

Actually, the LA Times is covering it....
Yup. Mythbusters proved a while back that it is, in fact, possible to polish a turd.
Attkisson was about the only good reporter CNN had. Now she’s forcing CBS to perform actual journalism. I love her.
The story even says that all the other MSM were cited as NOT reporting on this and they question what this reporters problem was.IMAGINE:telling a reporter it is not news and trying to influence what they say and report...
So Tracy Schmaler and Eric Schultz are screaming at this reporter. Does anyone have the email addresses and/or phone numbers of these people? We should be calling and emailing en masse because these two have sold their souls.
Kudos to Sharyl Atkkisson.
Executive branch is trying to arm every radical muslim backed syndicate in the western hemisphere and disarm US at the same time.
....And CBS is EMPHASIZING that Holder's office claims he thought the question was about a case from back during the Bush administration. Yes, whomever says it was worrying that CBS was the only network reporting this (besides Fox) and that it gave them too much power was right.
Oh, Dubya! If you think it’s crazy now, wait a few. This is an atomic bomb with a timer on it.

More on cussing Eric Schultz
Eric Schultz, the former communications director of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, officially joined the White House on Monday. While his portfolio will include issues primarily dealing with the Department of Justice, another key function will be to handle matters relating to and resulting from investigations launched by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), chairman of the House Oversight Committee. Eric Schultz started Monday. He will be one of three associate communications directors, alongside Kate Bedingfield and Sandra Abrevaya," said a top administration official. "Erics portfolio of issues will focus mainly on DOJ and other oversight-related topics. ... Schultz is no stranger to hostile political climates. Prior to taking over at the DSCC, he handled press for Al Frankens 2008 Senate campaign in Minnesota, including the months-long recount against former Sen. Norm Coleman WASHINGTON -- The Obama administration is staffing up in preparation for expanded oversight and inquiries from a Republican-run House of Representatives.
Deeeeelish! *rubs hands together*
Wow! You KNOW an era has passed when CBS isn’t on your side any more. That, or the reporter is quietly transferred to East Bumpuck, ND, never to be heard from again.
Eric Schultz
Eric Schultz is headed to the White House communications shop after serving as Communications Director at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) for the 2010 cycle.
Previously, Schultz handled press for Al Franken's 2008 Senate campaign and was National Press Secretary for the 2008 presidential bid of Sen. John Edwards (D-NC).
Think I’m going to invest in popcorn futures....!
I found this bit from the interview with Laura Ingraham interesting.
Quoting Sharyl Attkisson in the interviews:
[The White House and Justice Department] will tell you that I'm the only reporter--as they told me--that is not reasonable. They say the Washington Post is reasonable, the LA Times is reasonable, the New York Times is reasonable, I'm the only one who thinks this is a story, and they think I'm unfair and biased by pursuing it.
Here's what I find most interesting. As of today, here are some search results:
I guess the White House can add Google to the list of "reasonable" organizations.
One of these stories had dead federal agents, killed by guns that were basically given to the killers by the BATFE, along with dozens (so far) of dead Mexican nationals also killed by guns basically provided by the BATFE. The other is about some taxpayer money disappearing into a bankrupt company owned by a campaign contributor.
If the Bush administration had said, "There's nothing to see here. We don't need an investigation," would the LA Times, the New York Times and the Washington Post have just gone away and left the Bush administration alone?
Issa has been a disappointment, sure hope there is more going on behind the scenes.
My gaydar just exploded.
If she doesn't back down she will be "Vince Fostered" some dark and stormy night.
“One site said she left CNN back in 1993”
And a tenure at Yahoo, these lefty’s when out of Power just melt in with Big business. It’s hard to know whom to give your money to now days.
