Kinsley Claims 'Too Fat' Christie Lacks Self-Control To Be President
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Is Michael Kinsley sure he wants to go down this path?

In a Bloomberg View column and then in a clip run on "Good Morning America" today, the liberal pundit claims Chris Christie is "just too fat" to be president. According to Kinsley, Christie's weight is evidence of a lack of the self-control necessary to be an effective president.

If self-control is a key requirement for the presidency, I wonder how Kinsley would apply that standard to other recent occupants of the White House?

Michael Kinsley claims Christie’s weight proves he lacks self-control to be president. Ping to Today show list.

I'm no Christie fan. But neither am I a Kinsley fan. The man is the poster boy for Librium side affects.

Could we make a similar argument against a homosexual president? You may "be" homosexual, but you don't have to actual act on your feelings. In other words: living a homosexual lifestyle is evidence of lack of self-control and would invalidate such a person from being president.

Or ... would the Leftists want to shoot me for such a repugnant thought?

Perhaps it depends on whose ox is getting gored.

Yep, fat folks are the last group that one can openly hate and have it be socially acceptable. Of course, it is all done in the name of caring about the person’s health, doncha know.

Except Kinsley is openly saying that fat people have a moral failing. ONe of the many reasons I would love to see the magic pill invented that would make people slender, is so that naturally slender people would have to look elsewhere for their sense of moral superiority.

There are many ways to become thin. AIDS makes one thin, as does meth and crack cocaine. Your average meth addict is known for his self-control. sarc/

Ha Ha Kinsley supported Bill Clinton and we all know Bill’s picture is in the dictionary next to the definition of self control. /sarc

Last time I checked Obama still smokes. He PROMISED if elected he’d quit. Self control??? Stupid road to tread.

I can’t recall Michael Kinsley making similar observations about Teddy Kennedy or Hillary Clinton, both of whom have been Democrat presidential candidates. Odd co-incidence that other Democrats are also noticing Governor Christie’s girth. Could it be Michael is simply parroting Democrat talking points?

Come to think of it, I can’t seem to recall Michael Kinsley ever making a non-partisan or intelligent observation.

Precisely.

From the NewsBusters column: “if Christie never met a cheeseburger he didn’t like, what about Bill Clinton, who never could say no to a, well, you know.”

Michael Kinsley lacks the self-control to stop himself from saying stupid things. But, I like it. The Democrats have their fair share of large-boned people. This is a good way of alienating Democrat voters.

1st of all, Christie isn't running, and won't be running under any circumstances.

2nd of all, Christie is too fat, but that's not his biggest problem. His biggest problem is he is a liberal on everything but unions, and just like Romney, tries to make himself look more conservative by attacking Perry. I think we got enough people in the race attacking Perry already. How about someone join the race that freaking attacks Romney!

3rd of all, Christie himself said he isn't ready or qualified to be president, um... i’ll take his word for it!

Well, Christie’s fatness may be due to a type of lack of self control....but Kinsley’s skinniness is likely due to AIDS, sort of another type of lack of self control. I think I prefer Christie’s version.

Chester A. Arthur and "Millard Filled-More"

Whatever it takes to keep Christie on the Jersey shore. I'm sick to death of the legacy media picking the GOP candidates they know they can trounce.
