(Elyria) - A judge in Lorain County has sentenced a woman to 15 days in jail for choking a 71-year-old Wal-Mart greeter who asked to see a receipt as the woman left the store.
Elyria Municipal Judge Lisa Locke graves sentenced 49-year-old Toni Duncan on Thursday for what she calls the absolutely reprehensible attack last March. Duncan was sentenced after pleading no contest and being found guilty of assault.
According to the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram, the defendant also was ordered to take an anger management course by year's end and stay away from the Elyria Wal-Mart and the victim for five years.
The woman's 23-year-old daughter was sentenced to three days in jail for disorderly conduct and also was ordered to stay away from Wal-Mart for five years.

“Cracka, hurry up takin’ mah pitcher an’ get me outta heah, I got places ta be!”
That’s the expression on her face. “Biatch, PLEASE.”

So, where’s she go now, Costco?
How can they be sure Toni Duncan and Ashley Jackson are related? They don’t look similar, and their last names are different ... what gives?
I had my receipt checked once at Wal Mart when I was leaving with a TV.
Receipt checking isn’t a jobs program - it is an effort to hold costs and prices down which is fine with me.
It is their store. The products that you have purchased however, are NOT their products. Those products are your private property, and not subject to search without warrant.

What if you’ve stolen the items, and are using their cart to haul them away?
15 days in jail for choking an old timer? She got off way too easy.
Methinks the perp don’t do too well dealing with other life’s inconveniences/’injustices’ ....
I guess they would have no reason to question you.

We had a very friendly receipt checker at our Sam’s. He would draw Hello Kitty on the receipt for my daughter. He quit or was let go and leaving Sam’s just ain’t the same.
If this animal had been given 15 days for choking my mother she would have begged the judge for another 20 years.
A worker at one of our local Wal-Marts told me that she was told that even if she sees theft with her own eyes, she’s to just keep walking and act like she didn’t notice it.
You are on their property and they have a right to make sure that their property doesn’t get mixed in with your property. There are gangs that target Wal-Mart and they have verifiable proof that they incur substantial losses, therefore it is prudent for them to take measures to reduce those losses within reason. They have rights as well as you. You have the right to not patronize their store if their policies do not suit you.
probably let go. Living near Wal-Mart land, I hear things.
They’ve done it to me at all of our Wal-Marts and I’m as pink as they come. My husband figured just the opposite, they were only asking the white folks.
I think Walmart then becomes an accessory to the crime by providing the get away cart. It’s a wacky world out there these days.
