(Elyria) - A judge in Lorain County has sentenced a woman to 15 days in jail for choking a 71-year-old Wal-Mart greeter who asked to see a receipt as the woman left the store.
Elyria Municipal Judge Lisa Locke graves sentenced 49-year-old Toni Duncan on Thursday for what she calls the absolutely reprehensible attack last March. Duncan was sentenced after pleading no contest and being found guilty of assault.
According to the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram, the defendant also was ordered to take an anger management course by year's end and stay away from the Elyria Wal-Mart and the victim for five years.
The woman's 23-year-old daughter was sentenced to three days in jail for disorderly conduct and also was ordered to stay away from Wal-Mart for five years.

Sheesh, she might as well have decked the guy.
Must have been some highly educated people?
Exactly. They have no right to ask. It’s offensive.

I thought you had to be at least 75 to be a greeter there.

Another black culture believer that tells them that they are victims of every white person on earth and that all whites are racists.
They do it at costco and Sam’s Club.
Why? It’s Wal-Mart’s store and their products; they want to verify that you aren’t stealing any of their goods.
She doesn’t need “anger management”,
she needs “entitlement mentality management”.
She was entitled to shoplift.
Hate Crime?
They don’t check receipts at our Walmart but at Costco they do. Slowly. And they like to draw balloons and happy faces on the back.
I don’t condone this neanderthal’s attack but boy, oh boy, do I understand the annoyance at this stupid “jobs program”.
But then, Sam’s club and costco have a membership fee to keep this kind of riff raff out of the store.
I’m only partly joking.
I had a warning go off one day while going out of Wal-Mart. Of course I showed the receipt to the old lady at the door.
I kidded her that one day just for the fun of it, I was going to take off running when the alarm rang. She whispered to me that they were told to just let people go if they did not want to co-operate. I guess some of them didn’t get the message, then again this woman may have just choked her for even suggesting she show a receipt.
What is “reprehensible” is that the gutless judge gave the convict a lousy 15 days. The animal should have been locked up for a lot longer.
A business has no right to ensure that their products are being stolen?
I think it is an asinine system - but they certainly have the “right” to ask to see your receipt.
That was the problem of the assaulter - she thought he had “no right” to question her - as all customers with large items are questioned.
