After months of hedging, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is giving serious thought to jumping into the ring for a GOP presidential run -- and could make his decision next week, The Post has learned.
The announcement may come as soon as Monday, said sources familiar with Christies thinking.
The renewed consideration about a White House run came after prodding this week from some Republicans he idolizes, including former First Lady Nancy Reagan, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, and former President George W. Bush, sources said.

Christie pals said the pols mind-blowing experience at the Reagan library in California Tuesday changed his thinking.
We need you. Your country needs you to run for president, one woman pleaded after Christies moving speech there.
Yet when the governor first arrived at the Reagan library, he was still telling his inner circle he was a definite no for a presidential run -- and planned to make that clear in his appearance.
Something changed that night, sources said.

Not this crap—again!!!
I would have no respect for the man if he ran now. He very clearly, and repeatedly said he would not run. I must admit that when I saw that ridiculous article about his father saying he would be a good president I wondered if the people were being “conditioned” for him entering the race. We already have one northeastern Rino running. We don’t need two.
I think he was very clear that he doesn’t have his heart in running this time.
If I were him, I would say no just because all the establishment pubbies are acting like they own him. That alone would be insulting.
I think it would be a mistake for Christie. I don’t agree with him on some things, but I believe he is up front and honest. I would hate to see his future ruined over this.

That right there is what is called “anecdotal” evidence. You can find a person like that woman even for Barney Frank.
“If you like Dole or McCain, or Romney, this is the candidate for you.”
I agree that Christie is at least as good as any of those.
But what if you didn’t like Dole and McCain and don’t like Romney? That’s the question.
I think the GOP Elite are seeing that Romeny isn’t going to cut it so they have got to get someone else.
Christie is in..or will be. The Elite say it will be so.
Palin has got to get in.
The moderates are doing all they can to block our efforts to nominate a staunch conservative.
If Bill Kristol wants him to run I say: “No Way!!!”
They wouldn’t have room on the debate stage for Gingrich + his ego and Cristie + his ego.
He’s the backup for the Republican Establishment in case Romney’s campaign crashes and burns.
In many states signatures are required to get on the ballot. That is what is required in Iowa. We hold a caucus so it isn’t necessary for President, but if we had a primary it would be.
Signatures take time and ground game. You can’t just announce a day before and get on the ballot. A month is a minimum safe margin IMO.
In the end it’s a hard delegate count that wins. All the strategy in the world isn’t going to change that. It’s time for everyone to crap or get off the pot.
He is McCain heavy with a bigger mouth.

I’m also disappointed about this “moving speech” stuff. A good speaker is nice, for it is part and parcel to being a good leader, but the track record must be examined. It is the foundation on which the speechifying rests. Christie is great for New Jersey, relative to the other options they have. For the US? No way.
Heck, Hitler gave “moving speeches”. That and his iron fist were really all they had. In fact, if he had left the war to his generals, Europe would probably be Nazi now, the US would never have entered the war, he would have gained the Ukranian “living space” and there would have been no “eastern front”.
Thank God all he could do was give “moving” speeches. Didn’t work out so well for the Germans though.
“The Elite say it will be so.”
There is still the small matter of actually getting the votes. As bad as things have gotten in this country, I still think you need to be elected to become the President.
FoxNews just showed a poll where 39% say Cristie should NOT run.
Only about 32% say he should run.
Governor Palin has not even once ever stated that she was definitely NOT running.
Christie has stated on dozens of occasions that he is not running. The most recent was at the Reagan Library.
I think this whole process is shedding light on the rats in the Republican party. The RINO and liberal-lite BS has to stop. We need to stand together as conservatives or we will be bested by the organized masses on the Left.
He’s welcome to jump in. He & Mitt can fight for the 20% “NE liberal” vote. Maybe even split it between them.
Won’t stand a chance in hell of winning the nomination, tho. Gun grabbers don’t get votes in the west & south.
Run Christie Run. You’re the real heavyweight needed to round out and split the RINO vote. Pull about 5-6% off of Myth’s 20%. That’ll work for me.
Christie understands, as Reagan did, that compromise is necessary as a means of reaching a goal. For McCain, compromising, or even merely appearing to be willing to compromise, IS the goal. Christie is a leader. McCain is a 1 of 100 go-along-to-get-alonger. Christie is an effective speaker. McCain is a boob.
Nope. They have nothing in common. I realize this isn't what some radio talkers say, but then, they just have to get ratings. They don't have to actually accomplish anything in government.
