They would use bases in Venezuela and maybe Cuba
Still quite a run
the boys would be close enough to pick up American TV and radio - imagine the Rev Guard watching “Dancing with the Stars”
Maybe Rush Limbaugh could send them a shout-out
Ping.
That will make it easier/cheaper to sink them!
Good deal! We have two Naval Air Stations down here and I’m sure they’d love the targets.
Can we get an ETA on their arrival so we can set the lawnchairs out on the beach and be ready?
There are rumors that Iran has modified their Shahab-3 mobile IRBMs to launch from a freighter deck. If true, they won't have to race into port.
Lsrchmont Yacht Club, indeed!
Who could be more appropriate to deal with a ‘disabled’ navy?
I suspect the Bermuda Triangle will mysteriously develop an appetite for Iranian naval vessels.
No one should laugh too hard at this becuase the Iranians could easily operate in the Gulf of Mexico with logistical support from their friends in Cuba and Venezuela.

Due to advances in technology the world wont be safe as long as blood still pumps through the last remaining jihadists veins. Unfortunately, it will take 9/11 x 10,000 to make that point plain. By that time we need to have our own oil and gas supplies as the only option left might be the glass parking lot approach. (Not that Im advocating violence, or, Heaven forbid, saying something against diversity.)
That’s a long way to paddle.
Cuba.
Led by who? Achmed Gilligan?
By all means, DO IT!
Besides, a freighter is allowed to approach the port anyway. No racing required. No meaningful inspection of a fully loaded container ship is possible away from the port1, besides checking papers. But the papers would be either genuine or a first class forgery.
[1] Unless the leutenant who commands the inspection team is a licensed levitator and has no problem holding tens of thousands of tons of cargo in the air while they are getting to the bottom layer of containers.
They’ll probably come into US ports for repair and resupply.
Our communists leader King Obama will welcome them.
Almost choked on my spit reading this headline. Funny how none of these two bit nations would dare say something like this with any other president on than Carter. Obama gets zero respect. He wouldn’t know what to do if Iran or anyone else entered the gulf.
Have we ever allowed foreign war ships within our waters? I’m sure we’re tracking Soviet subs that get pretty close, but in the Gulf of Mexico? I doubt it.
Anybody know?
To make it really a sporting event, the Suez should be off limits, with the windward mark set at Capetown. Max range @ 10-12knts for all of these ships is probably about 3500 miles or less. How they would fuel and feed themselves along a 10,000- mile trip is a mystery to me, unless the Somali pirates accompany them with a captured tanker or two, with the CHICOM air-dropping take-out.
