An attorney for Sarah Palin is threatening to sue over a new book that he says defamed the Palins and contains "a series of lies and rumors."
John Tiemessen, in a letter to the publisher of Crown Publishing Group Monday, cites an email that author Joe McGinniss allegedly sent a blogger in January seeking substantiation for several rumors that have surrounded Palin's family. That email was posted online last week by Andrew Breitbart.
Tiemessen says McGinniss' book, "The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin," contains "most of" the stories that merely "amounted to the wishful fantasies of disturbed individuals."

Exactly. It’s a win for Palin if Random House pulps the book and demands McGinniss return the advance.
Thank you. I was starting to think this thread was going to contain nothing but uninformed "Geez, don't just threaten to sue" posts from top to bottom.
GatorGirl, we don’t care about your career as a transsexual hooker.
We don’t care. We’re not judging you.
No, don’t bother denying it. We’re not prudes. /Jonty
For the rest: your inability to distinguish between something McGinnis wrote and something Rice actually, verifiably said is not serving you well.
I think McGinness does. And I think that that's why he's wearing his brown pants LOL.
Dont know that it didnt happen? Thats your reasoning? Surely you dont think that I or any reasonable person here on FR would take that as sound reasoning. The email shows that there is NO verification of anything in the book. You can bet that if there was any truth to it that it would have been all over the lefty sites and MSM 24/7. Even giving credence to this, especially on this site, puts your statements in the ignore as biased category.
You need to switch to decaf, pal. I haven't read a thing except this thread. I had no idea that the subject of the quote was an interview. That is why I asked for context and that is why I capitalized the word, "IF". I was attempting to clarify the information provided in this thread and try to figure out what exactly has got you foaming at the mouth.
Seriously, you really need to settle down, chill out and realize that not everybody who asks questions is the enemy. You're giving FR a bad rep.
Assuming (a HUGE assumption) that any of the alleged words of Rice are accurately quoted, it is obvious that the quote was heavily edited and intentionally pieced together from a longer statement. Even at that, what was allegedly said in no way corroborates the salacious claim.
Wow. Let's just say that you apparently set a very low bar for what impresses you as representing "the truth."
Nothing I can cite OTHER THAN MY OWN REPORTING means he has some basis for it based on his own reporting.
I’m not even making a judgment on whether that reporting is any good. I simply don’t care.
I don’t care if she slept with the guy. You people clearly do. But chances are, she did. The facts all match up. It’s okay. Even Saint Sarah can have sex out of wedlock. Even with a black guy.
You agreed with Jonty30 who only had a quote from the book on a gossip site as his reference. Yeah. I’m gonna think you’re really being honest.
I always wondered how the Weekly World News stays in business. After reading "GatorGirl" and "Jonty30" I now know why and understand much more about their apparent customer base.
Um, that means he has no proof. Read it again. He only has HIS OWN REPORTING. Did you even bother to read his email or are you just having fun playing the smear game?
I dont care if she slept with the guy. You people clearly do.
We care about truth. You do not.
But chances are, she did. The facts all match up.
What facts? There are none. And the author admitted that.
Explosive Email Shows Anti-Palin Author McGinniss, Random House Likely Published Literary Hoax
Thusas Random House lawyers are already pointing out to menothing I can cite other than my own reporting rises above the level of tawdry gossip. The proof is always just around the corner, but thats a corner nobody has been able to turn.
If you can figure out how to take a step back and take a few deep breaths before you fly off the handle, you may find your comments may be better received. Others may not be as "informed" as you seem to be on this subject. It happens. Seriously, you sound like your face is bright red and your veins are popping in your forehead.
Maybe you should
I think Jonty30 is probably not alone in his interpretation of this quote IF this quote is all the info available. Just sayin'...
Now maybe you should reread what that poster said. They unequivocally stated in their Post 20 that Rice had confirmed when he had not. And the author himself says he has no proof. All of that info is on this thread. Repeatedly.
And...? What else did I say in my last post?
Have a nice day.
Everybody’s a lawyer.
Surely the Internet amateurs know better than the pros how to strategize and conduct a defamation litigation.
Palin has the advantage of knowing precisely what assertions in the book are false.
Which means that anything she doesn’t allege as false will be taken as an admission of truth.
If Sarah is to declare her candidacy, I will probably, most certainly vote for her but God help her with the rabid nutcases that are sick with infatuation over her and actually think they are somehow doing her campaign a favor. Sometimes, the crazy aunt really should stay in the attic until the dust has settled.
It’s always nice to find out what kind of “interesting” individuals stalk the Sarah Palin threads and you certainly did not disappoint. Enjoy your day as well.
Very interesting take on this. I suspect you're right.
The serve and demand letter is the basic groundwork for a suit over the defamation of the family members prior to asking for a large amount of money. The additional concept is that the fool seems to have drawn attorneys into a position where they have to testify. The attornies will throw the fool under the legal bus, along with his publisher.
Random House should settle now, for big bucks.
When Governor Palin is nominated for President, she might be able to pay for the campaign with Random House money.
