CBS News has been among the few mainstream media outlets to treat the “Operation Fast and Furious” scandal as a big story all along. They just published some tapes of an amazing conversation between Arizona gun dealer Andrew Howard, who was one of the dealers used by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms to deliberately sell American guns to Mexican drug cartels, and ATF agent Hope MacAllister.
Howard’s Lone Wolf Trading Company sold the guns that later turned up at the scene of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry’s murder. The tapes were made in February, just as the scandal was appearing on the radar screen of those who did not choose to studiously ignore it, like most of the supposedly scandal-hungry mainstream media.
A.W.R. Hawkins has a great write-up this morning of the “Watergate-sized leak” these tapes blow in the Obama Administration’s stone wall. I wanted to add a few other points from the CBS News transcript that jumped out at me:
First and foremost, after talking some smack about Senator Charles Grassley of the Judiciary Committee – who, according to the tapes, is an “arrogant bastard” – Agent MacAllister claims she actually suggested hiring a private investigator to dig up dirt on Grassley to shut him up. She makes it sound like a joke she told to break the tense mood in a meeting with her superiors. It sounds like MacAllister is a real live wire during ATF conference calls.
Agent: That's kind of what my suggestion but nobody thought that was funny like if I were a P.I. I'd put him on Grassley, I'm sure there's a lot would go away. Actually my one suggestion was just tell him in a registered Republican. I'm sure if he knew that everything would be fine, they...

In the end, they had to cover it, to avoid looking totally clueless, or worse, like part of the coverup.
Gunwalker, of course, is a billion times worse, and more newsworthy.
Sooner or later, they will even put Sharl Atkinson's stories on the CBS Nightly News.
I think it’s safe to say that Hope MacAllister’s career in federal law enforcement is over. One big rule of thumb in federal agencies is that you don’t let your personal opinions of certain senators who oversee your agency get back to the senators.

I have to also say that the people in the transcript are very inarticulate and sound like they have pretty low IQs. Our overlords are basically morons with guns.
If this gets any bigger Congress might send a letter to Holder asking him to consider looking into it. That'll teach them!

Since the guns ended up in Mexico the solution is simple: just threaten to send Holder and MacAlister to the Mexican authorities.Let them face Mexican Justice.

And one of the WG ops wife was killed in a plane crash.
But Two hundred ..no way.
CBS has given up on Obamas re-election so they now will join in the investigations of this most corrupt administration in history to “appear” to be objective. Had his poll numbers remained high, this would not be necessary. They have lied for him, covered for him for three years. This man should be impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors but he will simply fade away and not run for re-election. For them, keeping the presidency in Democrat hands is the priority. So, now Hillary is the objective. Get the loser out, and usher in Hillary.
All of these people are safe for now, but in a few months, their lives may change drastically if a Republican is President and there is a Republican House and Senate. Some astonishing things are being leaked, and as another poster wrote, politicians don't like being disrespected by Federal employees. I think little miss McAllister will be appearing before Issa's committee soon. It will be worth watching.
On the other hand, the cynic in me whispers that CBS is pleading for Obama to clean house to save his presidency.
