As bad news piles up for the Democrats, I asked a top Democratic strategist if it were possible that President Obama might pull a Lyndon Johnson and soberly face the cameras, telling America that he has decided that the demands of partisan politics are interfering with his efforts to right our economy and that he has decided to withdraw to devote full time to our recovery. His answer: Yes. Its possible. If things continue as they are and have not turned around by January, it is certainly possible.
Just looking at Michelle Obamas unsmiling face during her husbands recent speech to Congress triggered an insight: These folks arent having fun anymore.
Obama, whose insistence on passing a healthcare law that the courts will probably throw out cost his party the House, will now cost his party the Senate too. Indeed, it is even possible that the Republicans win 60 seats.
Currently, there are strong Republican candidates in 12 seats now held by Democrats. All could win in a 10- to 15-point landslide (which is shaping up). They include: Virginia (George Allen), Florida (Adam Hasner), New Mexico (probably Rep. Steve Pearce), Montana (Rep. Denny Rehberg), North Dakota (Rep. Rick Berg), Nebraska (Jon Bruning), Missouri (Sarah Steelman would be the best), Michigan (Pete Hoekstra), Ohio (Josh Mandel would be best), Wisconsin (Tommy Thompson or one of the others), Pennsylvania (Tim Burns would be great) and Connecticut (Chris Shays better than Linda McMahon).
If all win, the GOP is only one vote shy of the filibuster-proof 60-member majority in the Senate. The final seats could come if strong challenges shape up in West Virginia, New Jersey, Washington state, Minnesota and Maryland. And, with Obama this far behind, they probably will.

Dick:
You’re still a d*ck.
No way Casey looses in PA
Morris is good for looking into the dark heart of all that is Clinton. Other than that I'll take my political advise from a chimp with a dartboard.
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (R) shakes hands with EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton during a bilateral meeting in New York September 18, 2011.
Black turnout will be down 20% next year. The young voters are disillusioned with Obama and will maybe listen to their parents this time.
Yep. 20 years ago, it was called HillaryCare.
History tells us when Dick Morris makes a prediction...the 180 degree opposite will actually happen. He has long jumped the shark...
Dictatorus interruptus, huh? Power is the one thing they’ll never willingly give up.
Morris is over-the-top fairly often, and this is one of those times.
He is trying to get people to his website or to his book sales.
“Can someone tell me when Dick Morris was last relevant?”
Well,,,, He loves to toe the Party line.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Good one!
Just what we all need...another moderate. That will sure fix things up, won't it?
little dicky morris is an idiot...and a has-been. He is "largely" irrelevant.
Personally, I would like to see the stain run...and be soundly defeated by a hard pricipled, truth telling, a-political, conservative candidate - but she's not yet declared her candidacy.
So we keep the faith and wait....and laugh a lot regarding the inane comments of little dicky morris.
you are bad to the bone;)
Moochelle loves her White House shtick. She will rip Bammy Boy from limb to limb if he tries to punk out and quit. Plus Bammy Boy has way too much pressure on him to run again from various "connected" grifters (like Solyndra) hacks and thieves
Hellry is one fugly woman/man/it...and looking a LOT like “Chaz”.
What is Dick’s track record? I like what I hear, but it seems that all to often he is incorrect. I don’t know factually, so if any good FReeper has the stats, I’d love to be enlightened.
Not a chance.
He will double, triple, quadruple down on his ideology.
Alinsky rules the day.............
It’s all that he knows.
It’s all that he cares about.
It’s all that there is in him.................
January? Please. In four months, things aren't going to be better, even if the "official" stats say they ARE better. They sure as hell won't be better than they were in November 2008.
The 60 vote cloture rule in the Senate is a great thing for limited government.
Getting rid of it might sound nice when we have the Presidency, the House, and the Senate - but do you think for a second that such will ever be permanent?
What do you envision would have happened when 0bama had the White House the House and the Senate - if there was no cloture rule?
