Heck, we watch Andrew Zimmern from time to time. Trying bean paste is nothing. I’ve been known to eat fish eyeballs.

We like to eat out for BBQ too. I have two neighbors who I cook with now and then, and the BBQ is as good if not better than store bought. Of course, there is beer drinking involved.
What I don’t understand is when people get their food and grab the salt shaker and add more without tasting the food. Several years ago in our mess hall, the mashed potatoes and gravy were so salty, I didn’t eat any more after the first bite. Yet, several people sat down and grabbed the salt shaker and added salt. The trash cans were full of leftover potatoes and gravy.

I think the next transition needed is to transition the Dept. of Agriculture, Education, Housing & Urban Dev., Energy, Transportation, and other agencies such as EPA, ATF, etc. to a defunct status for the American publics health and safety. Ding! Ding! We have a winner!

>>Beef is now defined as a solid fat?
The liberal sh*t-for-brains crowd (PETA, grain-state politicians, vegetable oil manufacturers, etc...) have been demonizing animal fat for decades, and they are still wrong.
(09:10) Now, you all know, back in 1982, the American Heart Association, the American Medical Association, and the US Department of Agriculture, admonished us to reduce our total fat consumption from 40% to 30%. Everybody remember that? ... So what happened? We did it. We've done it. 40% calories down to 30%. And look what's happened to the obesity, metabolic syndrome, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, cardiovascular disease, stroke prevalance, ALL jacked way up as our total fat consumption as a percent, has gone down. It ain't the fat, people. It ain't the fat. So what it it? Well, it's the carbohydrate. Specifically, which carbohydrate? ... |

The short answer if you don't want to watch the seminar, is the carbohydrate called Fructose. And I don't mean the crap called "High Fructose Corn Syrup"; that is equally bad.
The crap called table sugar is 50% fructose, and in the higher quantities like we eat today, it is a poison that damages our livers, causing all these health problems.

Prevailing condemnation of saturated fats by the medical community is wrong. A new analysis of risk of coronary, stroke and vascular disease vindicates saturated fats.

(31:31) ...This was a "Battle Royal" back in the 1970's. This was not a simple thing. There were people lined up on both sides of this story. So this over here, is a book, 1972 it came out. And it was called Pure White and Deadly. Its all about Sugar. Written by a British physiologist, nutritionist, endocrinologist, by the name of John Yudkin. Now I never knew John Yudkin, he has passed away. But I read this book about a year ago, and without even knowing it, I was a Yudkin acolyte. I was a Yudkin disciple. EVERY SINGLE THING that this man said in 1972 is the God's honest truth. And if you want to read a true prophecy, you find this book. Its NOT easy to find, but you go find this book, and I'm telling you, every single thing this guy said, has come to pass. It's ASTOUNDING. I am in awe of this guy. |

Isn’t it true that when breeders want to get nice marbling in beef, they feed the cows a low fat diet before taking them to market?

The unhealthy diet you mean is grains. Cows healthy diet is grass & hay, etc... while their unhealthy diet is grains. Here is what a
cattle ranch says...
Grain Overload and Acidosis
We don't feed much grain here at the farm. We are firm believers that cattle were designed to eat grass, hay and other forage. Our calves receive a small amount of grain over their first winter, as weanlings, just to balance their ration. Because of this fact, we don't have a problem with grain overload, but it is an extremely important subject for those who are planning on feeding grain to cattle. In addition, bread loaves, bags of snack chips and fruit can have the same effect as grain feeding. Cattle get sick or even die everyday from receiving too much high carbohydrate products of some kind or another.

Not only what FUE said, but much (most?) of the grain that livestock are fed on factory farms is genetically modified (GMO) which means that it has been engineered to better withstand the pesticides that are used in large scale agriculture, and therefore also contains the pesticides used in growing the corn and soy. These large scale factory farms also give their livestock hormones (to "fatten" them or have them grow faster) and antibiotics (to combat the diseases that are rampant in factory farming).
A long time ago the food industry in the U.S. lobbied against coconut oil because they could not produce it here in the U.S. Coconut oil is one of the most healthy oils in existence and used to be consumed much more in the U.S. before the lobbyists got to Congress. Yes, it is high in saturated fat, but it is a natural, healthy fat. It has all sorts of benefits.
The food industry in the U.S. has been pushing high froctose corn syrup (HFCS) because it can be produced as a by product of corn production and ends up being less expensive to produce than sugar based sweetners (It is also why they push corn oil). It doesn't matter to them that HFCS is very unhealthy for humans. They put it in almost every processed food on the market - look at the food labels the next time you're in the supermarket. This is a major factor, in my opinion, as to the serious overweight problem we have. Our bodies did not evolve to consume large amounts of simple sugars.
But, corn and soy are the most heavily GMO crops in the U.S. Guess who is behind that? Can you say Monsanto? You can avoid GMO foods by checking out the Non-GMO project and the Non-GMO Shopping Guide.

As economy worsens, fewer will be able to afford the predicted increasing beef prices...:(
