After his bludgeoning in the Monday, September 12 GOP Debate, Texas Governor Rick Perry has lost more than half his lead over Mitt Romney in the polls. Perry's position as front runner makes him vulnerable by ganging up by the other contenders and his missteps on Social Security, immigration and the Papalloma virus have made him even more so. After Thursday's FOX News presidential debate, he and Romney should be about even - with Romney on the way up and Perry on the way down.

RINO fight.
I’m voting for Herman Cain in the primary.
Don’t think I’ll vote for either Romney or Perry in the General.
So who’s your man in the general?
Hey, it’s the Mittsters “turn” after all, right?.....Same as with McLame.
I’ll take Perry over Romney any day.
> So whos your man in the general?
I suppose I could write-in Herman Cain.
Or my REAL hero, Allen West.
Most of FR was not supportive of McStain until he got the nomination. I doubt very many of us would rally around Romney should the establishment foist him upon us.
Interesting days are approaching.
MORRIS?
ROFLMAO! Who else but a RINO Romney drone would write an opinion like this?
Wrong again, “Tricky Dicky”! This recent poll average is from 9/19/11. Your boy Romney is toast. Perry has recovered nicely since the 9/12 debate attacks from the single digit wannabes.
Please no Romney. If he is.the Republican candidate, I might as well vote for Obama.
Perry has made no missteps on SS. He simply told the truth, which is something alien to the type of client Morris has advised.
The party establishment is working overtime to feed us Romney.
Nothing wrong with trying. Have at it Mutt...and ask Santorum to lob some negative volleys for cash...that might help...or not.
When is the first primary or causes?
That’s when it becomes a rel race.
Backman will probably withdraw in the next two weeks.
Paul and Huntsman can’t take a hint and will stay.
Cain has a message and as long as he can he will stay.
Gingrich is great in the debates but he knows he wont get out of the primary.
Perry and Romney are duking it out.
Personally, I think Palin will get in but wait until a few more people flee.
And finally I really don’t know anything or why politicians do what they do, most of the time it makes no sense.
I don’t know if Ricardo will flame out and crash or not. But I do know that if he were to renounce his open borders policy and adopt the sort of get-tough immigration measures Americans overwhelming support he could easily zoom back up in the polls (i.e., if he could convince people that it wasn’t just another election year conversion).
Well that should help defeat Obama. I know of your pain. If I had to vote in a primary today, it would be for Cain. The primary is for voting ones heart. In 2008 I voted for Huckabee (Thompson was out by the time my state voted) and when McCain won, I voted G.O.P. in every down ticket race but I could not ever vote for John McCain. I figured; “how bad can this Obama cap really be?”
Well I found out. We all found out.
You do what you have to when it comes to the general, I’ll be voting for the eventual nominee.
“Then, most of them will lay off attacking our own people and stop stabbing us in the back in return.”
I like that you believe that. It gives me hope in my fellow FReepers.
For some reason Dick just makes me remember he finagled us into Slick.
Get the feeling Perry won’t give him the time of day, thus a little “cut you down” is due Perry.
Looking at the polls just out Perry 31, Mutt 24, Romney must be keeping his rush to overtake Top Secret or pulling an ol rope-a-dope.
aaaahhhhhh Bachmann. Get it right.
How do you ZOOM BACK up in the polls when you’re leading by 30%?
