Pro-gay ‘marriage’ NY Dem loses U.S. seat to GOP for first time in 88 years

ALBANY, September 15, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - David Weprin, a Democrat in the New York State Assembly who supported New York’s recent gay “marriage” law, has lost a bid for a U.S. congressional seat, giving the seat to a Republican for the first time in 88 years.  Both traditional marriage supporters and local sources say that the marriage vote was critical to Weprin’s downfall in the heavily Orthodox Jewish district, despite himself being an Orthodox Jew.

The special election on Tuesday was held to replace former Democratic U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner, representing New York’s 9th District, following his resignation in June over a sex scandal.

Retired media executive Bob Turner, a Republican and a Catholic, won what the New York Times called “a decisive victory” on a pro-life and pro-family platform - an outcome few might have expected for a solid blue Congressional seat. Turner defeated Weprin 54-46 percent.

“If you’d looked up the word ‘underdog’ before yesterday’s election, you might have seen a picture of NY-9 candidate Bob Turner,” Family Research Council President Tony Perkins wrote in an email to supporters Wednesday. “By all appearances, a pro-life, pro-family, Catholic Republican didn’t stand a chance in one of the state’s longest Democratic dynasties.”

For social conservatives, the reason for the shift was apparent.

Citing the results of a poll by QEV analytics, the National Organization for Marriage noted that, among voters who participated in Tuesday’s election, 44 percent of traditional marriage supporters said Weprin’s marriage position affected their vote, while 29 percent of gay “marriage” supporters said the same.

Weprin, an Orthodox Jew, voted in favor of same-sex “marriage” in June. The QEV poll found Orthodox voters in the heavily Jewish district opting for Turner 91-9 percent; 72 percent of the same group said marriage was a deciding factor.

When defending his vote this summer, Weprin had stated, “My religion is very important to me personally, but this is not a religious issue. I think everyone here would agree that we should not be outlawing marriages between Jews and non-Jews or interracial marriages.”

City Hall News notes that, according to insiders on both sides of the aisle, Weprin’s comments had kicked a beehive within the Orthodox Jewish community and proved a major factor in his downfall.

“Legislators were sold a bill of goods when they were told by Andrew Cuomo, Michael Bloomberg and the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) that they could redefine marriage and suffer no political consequences,” said NOM president Brian Brown in a press release Wednesday.

“All you have to do is look at David Weprin’s shocking loss to Bob Turner to understand that voting for same-sex marriage has consequences.”

I bet the reason why Weprin was for it was because of openly gay Christine Quinn, who wants to be the next mayor of NY.

You can read the Jewish Press to find the ONLY orthodox Jews that supported Weprin.

Isn’t it an “Alice in Wonderland” world where you have a legal system based on God’s Laws and Natural Rights from a Creator——dumping the fundamental principles of all scholarly legal tradition-—and adopting such immorality as two men inserting body parts into silly, destructive places and you have a government not only affirming their “Right” but actually forcing public schools to tell (brainwash) children that homosexual activity is “normal” and “good” when all of Natural Law Theory and common sense and all rational religions say it is intrinsically disordered and evil behavior!

It is not really surprising-—because the cultural Marxists like the sick perverted mind of Marcuse and bill Ayers wrote the curricula for decades and are telling our children that “Up is Down” on purpose. The worldview of our children has been intentionally changed by agitprop in schools and MTV for 3 decades....it is why more people think homosexuality is “ok”. That is because of conditioning and brainwashing using BF Skinner methods. They cover up the true ugliness of the dysfunctional behavior and sugar coat it for the kids and glorify it in all media.

To destroy Western Civilization you have to corrupt and destroy rational thought-—for Marxism is a lie—a fraud and easily destroyed by logic. PC is from the cultural Marxists to destroy debate and freedom of speech-—”Day of Silence” so that the truth is never brought up—to brainwash and create a homosexual worldview in children—a worldview where moral relativism is the rule and “feel good, do it” because the culture will be destroyed by such narcissism.

Cuomo’s endorsement didn’t exactly help Weprin’s case.

I’ve always believed and its been clear for a long time that it is exactly these “social issues” that have potential to break the back of the Democrat’s dominance over minority votes. It is that the GOP doesn’t target these things as a part of the overall strategy of fiscal and social conservatism that is the puzzle and the key to that puzzle is that many at the top in GOP circles do indeed support gay marriage, abortion etc. All you have to do is look at the McCain campaign and his advisors to realize exactly what is wrong with the GOP establishment and it would be one thing if it were only in McCain’s campaign that this kind of thing is a problem. Bush had it to a lesser degree where else do you think the compassionate conservative mantra came from?

Thankfully we had a trifecta of issues that came together to defeat Weprin. Israel, Marriage, and Obama. NOM (The National Organization for Marriage) has become a strong mainstream force and we are seeing their efforts have real impacts. Just imagine if the GOP were getting statewide numbers like those that Prop 8 received in CA? Hell if we just got the same numbers of people who say they oppose gay marriage in the North East we’d probably expand the number of elected NE GOP by a 1/3 or more.

JINO.

The Bible is very clear on what marriage is and Homosexual ‘marriage’ ain’t it.

IMO, the conservative argument for heterosexual exclusity for Marriage should be framed as a children’s rights issue. This is the very heart of the matter. There are numerous quotes from homosexuals themselves that children deserve or have a right to a mother AND a father. The Gummint has sole authority over adoptions and it should be required to provide a mother AND a father for every child in their care and for every adoption. If marriage is framed as a Child’s Right instead of a Gay Rights issue, there is no argument from homosexuals sufficient to sway a majority of voters to their side.

these idiots never learn do they.

They get many calls and money off the homo crowd and then think the majority want the homo agenda.

This is a lesson to those in NC, you want the queer agenda then lose your job and for those who voted for the overturn of don’t ask then you lot will be targeted just as much as those in NY are and will be.

it is high time that the right , not just the party but every one who stands for morals and normal marriage to speak up and fight back against these people.

Being silent on this matter only helps the left to further destroy this country and IMHO the first thing the next president should do is to overturn don’t ask and say having homosexual parties, openly serving homosexuals, giving promotions to the same sex based on sex and sharing showers has not worked .

Your comments are spot on. And remaining silent is PRECISELY the reason the homo-agenda has gained such ground. Because those who KNEW it was wrong SAID NOTHING!
