AUSTIN, Texas A Texas teenager was charged with assault after six students were hospitalized when they ate marijuana-laden brownies he served them at a school band practice, myFOXaustin.com reported Wednesday.
Kevin Coffey, a 17-year-old student at Austin's Lake Travis High School, told authorities he didn't know the brownies contained drugs when he handed them out -- but police said text messages he had sent to friends proved otherwise.
Police said many of the students were unaware of the brownies being laced with pot and six were transported to the hospital by their parents.

Low brass were the wild ones at my HS.
I think that’s what’s really in question. As it does no real physical harm, is poisoning appropriate here? Typically, poisoning would be attempted murder.
Near the end of the day the receptionist could keep her secret no longer and told me about the cookies. I was shocked, not so much by her for bringing them in, but by the day had gone so peacefully. I had to ask her not to do that again but almost wished I hadn't had to. Nevertheless, I've never forgotten that lovely day.
I think I told you about the time some “friends” brought over laced brownies without telling us, and the grass in them was so powerful that Hubby passed out. They actually let him eat a whole one when one bite would have been enough. I didn’t eat one because I was on a diet (perennially). They left right after half of their hosts disappeared to go to bed and the atmosphere got chilly.
Our friendship was never the same after that, and we drifted apart.
But I don’t believe a word of these kids’ lies about nobody knew that the brownies were laced.
Meanwhile, later on . . .
It is assault, imho. It’s wrong and dangerous to do this to someone without their knowledge or permission.
ROTFLMAO.... That title with that Pic.... LMAO
I am but a mirror, reflecting Life.
[I’ve never forgotten that lovely day.]
Lol, I’ve never had that experience but I read a funny story about a woman who used a ‘dog sitter’ for her dog. She thought her dog was sick because it kept sleeping and was sluggish.
She asked the ‘sitter’ about it and she admitted that she baked “special” treats for the dogs she took care of......!!
Such “friends”...
I’m not sure re whether the kids knew the brownies were spiked - could be a case of a nasty prank.
Nasty prank, probably. But didn’t the perp email about the spiked brownies?
All this talk of brownies is making me want to bake some, the low-carb version. Yum...
The scenario I had in mind was the “prankster” giving non-tokers the drugged brownies. He wouldn’t have texted them.
Mmmm, (THC-free) brownies!
Oh yeah! They’re indistinguishable from the sugary, high-carb “real” thing.
Wish you were here to share.
Guaranteed pot-free, LOL!
LOL, see reply #40.
GMTA!
ROFLMAO! Kind of an expensive sleeping aid.
