Turner won Brooklyn handily. Some are saying because the Orthodox Jewish vote there went heavily G.O.P. due to Obama’s anti-Isreali policies.
Lets hope that is a sign of things to come and that it spreads to many Reformed (liberal) Jews as well. I do not expect their votes, but if they just don’t vote for Obama or send him money? That would be great.

This district will like be vaporized for 2012 since NY State lost population and a house seat. He may not have a chance for re-election.
True... and I wouldn't hold out much hope of Turner being particularly proactive in advancing conservative principles; but for now, (1) a far more liberal Dem was neutralized, at least temporarily, and (2) P.R.-wise, this is a bucket of cold water on Dem hopes for a "rally" in 2012, and it's a shot in the arm for those who are working tirelessly to do a true "house-cleaning" (and Senate-cleaning, WH-cleaning, etc.) in 2012. This is a limited, but very real, good!

More info...here's the district ("Kings County" is Brooklyn). Now that I see it, it leaves out hundreds of thousands of blacks from Bed-Stuy in Brooklyn; it includes part of the Rockaways which is heavily Jewish and Irish (lots of firemen and cops). In Brooklyn, it includes a big Jewish and Italian area. And, a big Asian part of Queens.

AP...
A. They wanted to make sure.
B. They couldn’t believe Turner won.
C. They were waiting for the D’s to find more ballots.
D. All the above.

There are lots of Orthodox Jews in Brooklyn. I suspect that the biggest issue may not have been Obama’s antisemitism, but Orthodox rabbis who were furious at Weprin for voting for gay marriage.
Cuomo managed to push gay marriage through, but I suspect that the voters of New York may not be all that happy about it.

Something I posted before
Yes Obama, the world no longer hates us, as you claimed in 2008. Now, they pity us!
They have seen in the span of 2 short years, the greatest nation on earth reduced to
the mediocrity of a 3rd World Nation,
We are saddled in debt, broke, unemployed. We landed men on the moon and now have to pay for rides on other countries rockets.
We were a country of pioneers, innovators, risk takers & dreamers. You want us to be a nation of mindless numbers, eagerly awaiting the next handout.
You were entrusted with the stewardship of this great nation by people who were led to believe in the words of your speeches.
Now, your words are empty, you commitments unfulfilled.
Your style of leadership is not in the American Spirit of Boldness and Righteousness. Your leadership style is to blame, not inspire...to threaten, not encourage.
In the greatest threat to this country, the American Civil War, Abraham Lincoln built a Team of Rivals and together, they won a war, healed a nation and freed a race. All in the short span of 4 years.
You sir, have built a team of crooks & cronies, each seeking to line their pockets, further their self interests and abandon the principles that made this country great.... at the expense of the people they are suppose to serve.
In less than 2 years, you have come closer to destroying this country than the forces Lincoln faced, ever did.
For you and your ilk, the American Dream is a myth, something to hold in contempt, for you never believed in it. You only believe in getting what you want, regardless of method or deception.
But America is a resilient Nation. Americans learn from the mistakes of the past. And as they learn that you were not as you claimed, you will hear a growing chorus of dissent across the nation, across all demographics and races that not even you can ignore. Your choice will eventually be resignation, impeachment or devastating defeat in the 2012 election.

It wasn't even Queens so much as Brooklyn that won this race.
Turner actually lost the Queens portion of his district by 2-3 points, but carried the neighborhoods in Brooklyn overwhelmingly.

Looks like Sheepshead Bay, Brighton Beach and a few other neighborhoods in Brooklyn and The Rockaways, Howard Beach, Woodhaven, Maspeth, Middle Village, Forrest Hills and and few other neighborhoods in Queens.Looks like mostly white neighborhoods.

Oh...absolutely. As I mentioned in a previous post, this district does not have any part of the vast black neighborhood in Brooklyn, Bedford-Stuyvesant.

I'm not sure, but there were between 60 and 80 thousand voters who came out for the election, based upon the
AP's numbers , which are incomplete.
