Erick Erickson: “moving on from Sarah Palin is like leaving Scientology” (Erick, grow up!)
Legal Insurrection ^ | 9/7/2011 | William Jacobson

Posted on 09/07/2011 10:18:27 AM PDT by Lakeshark

I guess that makes me a Scientologist, because I’ve posted repeatedly that Palin holds a special position because there is no one — not even George W. Bush — who has been the subject of the Democratic, mainstream media and left-blogosphere smear machine to the extent Palin has.

So yes, I do take it personally when conservatives lash out at Palin not because of her policy positions or what she’s done or not done in her career, but with personal invective.

It’s not religion, its a cold hard understanding of what is to come, and how those who call Palin a diva or a tease or any of the other names coming from media conservatives do damage to us all. Palin is simply the test case for how the Republican nominee, whoever that person may be, will be treated, and we pile on her at our own peril.
**snip**
Simply by waiting to announce, Palin has driven media conservatives mad. It all seems so familiar.

Erik Erickson has become a backstabbing, political pimp.

He fawned all over Herman Cain, until WSB gave him Herman’s radio spot, now he uses that evening time slot to trash conservatives, including Palin and Cain.

This election is too important for her to continue to play this waiting game.

You should stop and think---perhaps she has some very good legal and financial reasons, as well as political reasons, for NOT jumping in right now. Why should she? The election is in November 2012, and NOT November 2011.

Plus, look at the example of Michele Bachmann--she declared early, hired a large professional staff centered around Ed Rollins, won the Ames straw poll, and is now already out of money, losing both Rollins and the deputy campaign manager. She's done.

So why should Sarah follow that example?

Be patient. All good things come to those who wait.

The author gets it, what is the problem with her waiting to announce? She's said she's waiting till some time in September, yet it's somehow driving a few conservatives crazy.

Those "conservatives" who've been whining about Sarah Palin officially announcing by their demand were already nuts and kooks. Palin merely exposes them.

“We should not set Palin on a pedestal so high she shatters if she falls off, but that’s what her most ardent fans have done.”

Horse hockey. Her most ardent fans are hardly political neophytes and they know the real deal when they see it. But pedestal? No. If she doesn’t run, it will be our loss, but we still need to beat the Zero and hopefully with a conservative, not someone like Mittens. THAT is the reality of life, junior. Go pedal this nonsense somewhere else.

"fish or cut bait"

"I'm sick of waiting!"

Awaiting concern trolls and whiners in 5.....4.....3.....2....

Doesn't this comment fit the argument Erickson is making? RedState has been fairly pro Palin for a long time. Is that now a RINO outfit too?

The question is, WHY is Gov. Palin waiting “till some time in September?” Nobody seems to be able to supply a good reason for that. (”Not decided yet” is a very poor reason.) But good reasons to wait, if she’s already decided not to run, they’re easy.
So, if she’s decided to run... WHY delay.

Jim Rome:

“I talk about sports. Other hosts talk about me.”

Sarah Palin:

“I talk about politics. Other conservatives talk about me.”

What exactly does “fairly” pro Palin me. Are you saying the Mr. Ericson has been a supporter of Palin’s up until now. Somehow, I don’t believe that.

I love Palin, but her indecision is bothering me a lot too and trust me I am the furthest thing from a liberal.

What indecision? People assume just because she is not ready to make her announcement, for whatever reasons she has, that she cannot decide. She has decided, she is running. She's also decided, a long time ago, the date she will officially enter the race. What the hell is the big hurry? Even after she declares, it's a going to be a helluva long campaign. Why rush it?

“The question is, WHY is Gov. Palin waiting “till some time in September?” Nobody seems to be able to supply a good reason for that.”

Another good question is why does she need to announce now? And who’s timetable are you jumping to? The MSM? If you don’t need to be over the target longer than you need to complete your run, don’t circle. The meat of this campaign is still a long way away.

Having actually left Scientology, I can assure you Sarah is nothing like Scientology.

Good for you. I once took their personality test, but shied away when I was pressured afterwards.

If anyone cares to know what life in Scientology et. al. is really like, see this page. It's from noted cult-fighter Steve Hassan.

The Journolist memes of the past week concerning her not declaring are so obvious, I don't understand how conservative commentators can spout the nonsense they've been regurgitating lately.

How many times can we see "I was a Palin supporter until she didn't jump into the race early" tripe before we barf?

Scientology? Good grief, how over the top can you get.......

Is that now a RINO outfit too?

Erickson went RINO when he first backed Daniels and then Pawlenty for the nomination earlier this year. He can now go pound sand.

Why is it no one can answer that question? Filing deadlines are some time away yet...

I hardly think Perry would have gotten the questioning attention he (and the voters) so richly deserve had Governor Palin already been in the race. I think most of the whining is coming from people who really don’t want their candidate to receive the requisite “exam”.
