Erick Erickson: “moving on from Sarah Palin is like leaving Scientology” (Erick, grow up!)
Legal Insurrection ^ | 9/7/2011 | William Jacobson

Posted on 09/07/2011 10:18:27 AM PDT by Lakeshark

I guess that makes me a Scientologist, because I’ve posted repeatedly that Palin holds a special position because there is no one — not even George W. Bush — who has been the subject of the Democratic, mainstream media and left-blogosphere smear machine to the extent Palin has.

So yes, I do take it personally when conservatives lash out at Palin not because of her policy positions or what she’s done or not done in her career, but with personal invective.

It’s not religion, its a cold hard understanding of what is to come, and how those who call Palin a diva or a tease or any of the other names coming from media conservatives do damage to us all. Palin is simply the test case for how the Republican nominee, whoever that person may be, will be treated, and we pile on her at our own peril.
**snip**
Simply by waiting to announce, Palin has driven media conservatives mad. It all seems so familiar.

So, sadly, I have now gone from the point where, while I didn't think Sarah was the best choice this cycle and I didn't think she could win, but I would support her if she got the nomination; to where I will actively oppose her nomination, and if she wins the nomination I will sit the election out. And it is because I don't want her supporters anywhere near the levers of power. If this is the type of supporter she inspires, then that says a lot of negative things about her candidacy as well.

Plenty of nutty Perry supporters. I would never base my decision about Perry because of those nutty supporters.

Your post says more about you...

What I mean is that the Iowa caucus could be held New Years weekend. That is almost six weeks before they were held in ‘80. That is what I was referring to, not the “times we live in.”. Does that make more sense?

The whole garbage about Reagan waiting does not hold water now. The calendar is very different this time around.

The last I looked at the calender, the average primary and caucus this time around is maybe two or three weeks sooner.

So if you move Reagan's announcement up two or three weeks, that would be the calender equivalent to this years.

I think your argument doesn't hold water.

Doesn't take much theology to read these posts and see that there IS a battle of good and evil going on over Sarah Palin. I don't see posts containing this stultifying hatred in threads dealing with the real crimes of this current administration.

Apparently some people think it's a crime that she's beautiful, popular, or powerful. It's especially interesting that since the liberal's email investigation only proved her to be even more diligent and effective a governor than previously supposed, that the new epithets are "little Miss Perfect" and "Saint Sarah", as if character and integrity are a liability in a candidate. It certainly is a threat to the entrenched infrastructure of despotism in D.C. that will brook no change and deny us any voice.

The Bible says that "out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks", a pre-Freudian concept that people reveal just what lies within, in what they say....and that is why I say this to the Palin people, that trying to convert those RINOs that have vileness and virulence as their only contribution, is worse than a waste of time...it's picking up a rattlesnake. By our standards Sarah Palin's essential person life fulfills our highest expectations of womanhood and patriotism...those whose instinctive response to a person of such influential character is a backlash of pure blind hatred, whose every goal is controlling and silencing her supporters...such people as these are not worthy of significant time or effort. If your children had friends who acted like these, not only would you forbid your kids to see them, the abuser might be lucky to get out of your house without your New Balance permanently wedged in their colon. Abusive people whose motive is pure control lash out at anyone they think they can shape and are consumed by actual murderous thoughts of those that they cannot intimidate. Please be strong and do not be played...let them get the ulcer and not you :)

If you would not bring people like this into your home, then please don't bring them into your confidence or try to lead them into our camp...these people don't want the truth, they want control of the dialogue, they want to dictate the action and they want to silence you. Look at how the "quitter" strategy has been done to death and how over and over and over Palin supporters respond with Pavlovian explanation and reiteration every time a giggling gadfly pushes their buttons...respond with facts and answers, they obliviate with eyes squinted shut and fingers in their ears singing "La, la, la." You are beìng played. Those women out there who have been in abusive relationships know there is no meeting of the minds when one of you is mentally ill, you cannot communicate with someone who holds conversation as a battlefield of control, and no matter what good you maý do there is no "good enough" for an abuser, you can't love away the being within that thrives òn hate...love is a threat to a being made of hate, and truth to such a being is perceived as an assault.

American does not exist as a haven for abusers like these, America was founded by pioneers escaping people like these, America contiñues to exist in spite of people like these, and a truly free America restored is unbearable to people like these. To them, we are The Great Satan...

Truth is a reflective surface.

I am sorry that you and Erick are so impatient because Governor Palin has not bowed to your concern. Your indecision shows your lack of support and commitment. If you really took the time to think, you would see that voters (you and me) are constantly changing their minds—One minute MB, the next minute Romney, then Perry and the beat goes on, but Mike & Erick we Palin supporters, unlike the other “in and out voters” have seen that all other candidates are all the same (hense crony capitalism) usurping their power behind closed doors, fattening their wallets, or have said one thing, but done another. A real conservative believes in less government (but since Palin hasn’t declared) I’ll support this candidate and that candidate even though they have governed with more government because we must replace Obama, but I’m a conservative. Are you really?
I believe the word conservative has been hijacked and now a conservative can be a Romney, a Perry or a Huntsmen
because they are Republicans, is this what you believe? Well, people like me are conservative (the old-fashioned way) and believe actions speak louder than words. I want someone I can trust, someone who believes in “we the people”, and someone who doesn’t use Corporations, banks & other back-door dealers as a means of raising money.
Our government, on both sides, is filled with corruption & dishonesty and I am willing to wait for the one person who has actually done what they say, or at least give that person my total commitment until they make their decision. Is waiting another month or two worth the wait?
For me it is because I am committed, for you or Erick commitment doesn’t exist, so continue the ebb and flow we have been doing in elections for the last 50+ years, and don’t be surprised if the results are the same—electing another person who says one thing but does another.

Norm... that was beautiful. I submit these words from a GREAT... perhaps our GREATEST President... excerpted from Reagan's 1975 CPAC speech. ALL OF YOU READ THIS PLEASE!

Ronald Reagan 1975 CPAC

“But let’s not be so naive as to think we are witnessing a mass conversion to the principles of conservatism. Once sworn into office, the victors reverted to type. In their view, apparently, the ends justified the means.”

“Americans are hungry to feel once again a sense of mission and greatness.

I don ‘t know about you, but I am impatient with those Republicans who after the last election rushed into print saying, “We must broaden the base of our party”—when what they meant was to fuzz up and blur even more the differences between ourselves and our opponents.”

“A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers.

I do not believe I have proposed anything that is contrary to what has been considered Republican principle. It is at the same time the very basis of conservatism. It is time to reassert that principle and raise it to full view. And if there are those who cannot subscribe to these principles, then let them go their way.”

Palin has a ground game in Iowa... she has troops awaiting her call... this will not be a problem... if she decides to run. I do understand what you meant much better now and I truly appreciate the civility. You are a true FReeper.

Plus, look at the example of Michele Bachmann--she declared early, hired a large professional staf…She's done.

Don't enter the race Sarah, because you can't make mistakes if you're not running?

You are right, he has been in and out of love with Palin several times. He would defend her one time, then attack her the nest time.

Remember John Ziegler, he too loved loved all things Palin, until he came to a self delusional conclusion he was her inside the loop PR man and she should do as he dictated. Then when Sarah told him to take a hike, like a paranoid rejected lover he went off the deep end attacking her.

>> “Candidates have to be able to raise and budget funds effectively” <<

.
So that they will be beholden to the big money people rather than the voters?

.
>> “They have to debate other candidates and argue their ideas with them in public forums” <<

Palin, and really, only Palin has presented the issues and her platform for all to see in writing and in public address.

No professed candidate is prepared to debate Palin, because the platform points that she has expressed are exactly the ones that they had hoped to ignore completely, and figured that the LSM would be happy to assist them in that goal.

That is exactly what these fake debates with restricted questions are all about.

>> “The reasons I see given for Sarah not getting in I read as: she doesn’t want to do what it takes to be a candidate” <<

What??? - She is the only candidate that has done anything of significance, and she is doing it constantly: Hitting the pretender in the offal orifice with real, well thought out commentary on his failures and devastation of the country.

Then who is? Certainly not any of the declared candidates; none of them come even half way up to Palin’s accomplishments in returning government to the people.

We need a 100 year remake, and these pretenders talk about holding the status quo being some great accomplishment.

The whole world was crying out for our congress to hold the line on the debt ceiling, and Standard & Poors demanded a four trillion cut immediately, and we end up with a three + trillion increase!

Who was the primary voice to do it right? Palin.

You can’t tell me that your goofy comments are not based in hatred of who she is, what she is, and what she’s going to accomplish. (just like Ann and Laura)

Why would I try to tell you anything, when it is obvious that you lack the reason and intellect to understand? You have no comprehension of my feelings and attitudes, even when they are clearly explained, so why bother. Go ahead and support Palin, and I will oppose her. In the end, we will see who made the wiser choice.
