The thrill tingling up the leg of Chris Matthews has become something else trickling down his leg. Democrats are worried that they will lose the White House in 2012 — and both chambers of Congress by bigger margins than the Republicans have enjoyed since Hoover. In a piece at Salon magazine, Matt Stoller, a fellow at the Roosevelt Institute, openly asks about getting some challengers to President Obama in next year’s primaries. Noting that Obama’s approval dropped below 40% in the Gallup, Stoller wrote, “George W. Bush’s approval rating didn’t drop this low until Katrina hit.”
That was in 2005, when Bush was safely in his second term.

The last time a party successfully dumped a sitting president and elected his successor was 1856 when Democrats gave us the James Buchanan presidency. Yes, there is a legacy to wear around one’s collar like an albatross.
The bigger problem is demographics. One-quarter of the Democratic Party’s votes now come from African-Americans, who are extremely self-identifying with Barack Obama. he is their man. The latest Gallup numbers show 88% approval for Obama among African-Americans and most of that, I would imagine, is strong approval. A direct challenge to President Obama by anyone would be seen instantly as racist and good lick getting a Democrat elected with 25% of your party’s vote sitting at home stewing.
So what can party leaders do?

Of course they will stay with him! They benefit so much, think about all of the successful black leaders in the inner cities and the health of the black community in general, the high employment, huge incomes, burgeoning middle class, etc., they wouldn’t want to change anything!

If they dump Obama...their BIG problem is that the black vote..which is the core of their support..will stay home in record numbers..thus guaranteeign a dem defeat..they are screwed either way..

And.....as I have stated so many times on this site and others the Obama failures on job creation and economy growth are small potatoes compared to the massive Obama failures in foreign policy. Iraq is now gone. Iraq will soon go to Iran. Obama has seen to it that his “Muslim Brotherhood” brethren now rule Libya & Egypt and are now free to murder innocent African Black Christians in Libya and innocent Jews in Israel. In fact, the entire Middle East with the exception of Israel is now controlled by Muslim terrorists, just as Obama, Wright, Farrakhan, Jones, Jarrett, Waters, Ayres, etc have wanted. America is now in harms ways, thanks to America hater, Barack Hussein Obama!!! And....yet....America still sleeps at the wheel!!! Sad and Tragic!!!
That’s why Barry is now veering hard-left. He is desperately trying to head this off. Will really hurt him come next fall though.
