HOUSTON -- At the moment, Rick Perry's camp confirms the governor still plans to participate in Wednesday night's GOP debate in California.

The governor's campaign just released his schedule showing two events in California after the debate. It appears he will leave the wildfires to appear Wednesday night in California and will continue on with planned fundraisers Thursday and Friday. It appears his brief break from campaigning hasn't hurt.

It is interesting that many Palin supporters (not all but many)are a major turn-off to American voters and they have actually chased former Palin supporters off the field and into the Perry field.

What's really interesting is this tone and tactic you're all singing is the same tune across the threads....the same tactic media and liberals use to take down their opponets. It's not appealing seeing it here on Fr.....what it will do is chase people off from Free Republic if crap like this continues.

It’s a terrible situation and I hope everybody comes through ok. I wonder how much of this is due to inadequate forestry management?

Hi...I doubt much of it has to do with that...moreso the environmentalists who won’t allow “safe” burns to clear the rubble out...thus preventing flash flames and the like. Forest management has been crying out for years if this isn’t done safely by controlled burns then when fires do it they will be hurrendous beasts of a fire.

That’s what I’m referring to, the environmentalists.

About ten years ago, a quarter of my province went up in smoke, thanks to their protests against controlled burns. Fortunately, much of the fires were in fairly remote locations, so not much loss in property or lives.

What kind of a vapid and intellectually inept moron would choose a presidential candidate based on some perceived sleight from an internet supporter?

No, what it does is make the person think twice about unflinchingly believing anything that comes out of the camp that does it. It then makes the person more open to learning about other candidates.

You should look at the posts from Tempest. It’s at the point where he, quite literally, does not make any sense.

Moderators call those remarks spit-balls when a poster has no amunition to counter point with.

I really think you ought to take a look at what 'editor-surveyor' wrote in posts 102, 103, 104, 108, 111, amd 113 before you start saying the pot is black.

“Palin just gave advice for GOPer to not trash its candidates.”

If so, I applaud her. I honors Reagan’s 11th Commandment, which freepers has told me several times means nothing.

Again, I applaud her for this.

It will be good to see him in the debate and that should bring his popularity numbers down more toward reality...people are clinging to the GOP’s version of “hopey change.” It really is disappointing to see just how unaware and/or unconcerned people are respective to the controlling forces in the world. One would think that people would be opposing anything or anyone who is promoting a one world government, be them of the conservative or liberal or theocratic categories...be them of the Bilderberg Group or Trilateral Commission or Islam - in ANY of these “ideas,” HUMAN RIGHTS DO NOT EXIST! Are people really that self-delusional to believe that they are somehow by some miracle or some other supernatural occurrence they are going to maintain human rights while at the same time voting them away? That is insanity.

When, and if Sarah gets in, I’m with her, but wasting time on the 23 year old Perry/Al Gore business is a useless dead horse. Anyone that knows Texas politics realizes that.

How dare you be rational during election season!

Most Perry supporters actually like Sarah Palin as a conservative leader. Unfortunately, like Paul supporters, many of her supporters (not all but many) are a turn-off. Many of them are actually responsible for chasing former Palin supporters off the field and into Perry's field.
There is a gnat-swarm of Perry-haters (10-20) some of whom openly claim to be Palin supporters, like editor-surveyor, and some who never reveal their candidate. Those, like editor-surveyor, who are part of the gnat-swarm of mean, nasty, ugly contentless posters, who swarm every Perry thread with their constant, repetitious meaningless posts, are actually far worse than the average Paulbot, who tends to stay mainly on Ron Paul threads and tends to TALK ABOUT THEIR OWN CANDIDATE, rather than be in 24/7 attack mode.

The gnat-swarm never posts positively about anything and always, always attacks Perry. Those among them who CLAIM to support Palin (which I am starting to doubt, at least for some of them) are doing her a BIG disservice (which might actually be their goal in the first place).

I honor Reagan’s 11th Commandment...

Why? According to the way many people here seem to think lately, as a former Democrat and union boss, Reagan was a RINO and therefore not worthy of respect.

Well I hope you love Romney then, because if for some reason Perry implodes, Romney will cinch the nomination. This is a two man race at this point whether you like it or not.

It then makes the person more open to learning about other candidates.

Oh, please. These lowlifes play the victim after spending months mercilessly repeating inane talking points and trashing Sarah Palin.

And then it's someone elses fault that they pick a candidate with a shocking record and put their fingers in their ears screaming "LA LA LA LA LA" whenever anyone points it out.

Wake up and smell what you're shoveling.

This is a two man race at this point

Well that is an 'undeclared' point since there's nothing 'official' stating there were only going to be two candidates in this first debate...

...further... making it appear that this one debate will decide the fate of the primary election is foolish at best.

Like it or not either Romney or Perry will be our nominee.

Romney has already been fully vetted and already has all the money he needs and is too cautious to implode. So if you succeed in mortally wounding Perry, you will just be handing the nomination to Romney, and nothing you can say or do with keep Romney from getting the nomination then.

Once you realize that Romney was going to get the nomination easy, you will see Perry as I do, as the man who saved us from Romney. Prior to Perry's entry into the race all the other candidates also knew Romney was going to win judging how debate after debate they never went after him and in fact went out of their way not to attack him. They are all running for vice president and they know it.

“She flew up there for an hour, got a couple of pictures taken and returned to screwing us.”

But a couple of days ago I was told off in no uncertain terms that Perry NEEDED to be in Texas for this emergency. LOL

The Feds have taken over the fire fighting command, (at least in the Bastrop fire) turning local volenteers away.

Perry can coordinate from a far if necessary.
