Rick Perry will self-destruct on Immigration if he keeps this up
Myself(Vanity)

Posted on 09/05/2011 4:50:33 AM PDT by JosephSmithNAW

Perry's word "1200 miles from Brownsville to El Paso two things how long do you think it will take to build that, and then if you build a 30 foot wall from Brownsville to El Paso the 35 foot ladder business is real good, you got to have people on the ground."

This is stupid and this line of argument, when it came from the pundits and the talking heads has been busted before. No one is saying that just build the fence and leave it there. Proponents of the fence have always said that the fence is only ONE of the many important steps that have to taken jointly with others to secure the border

I have no idea why Perry is so hell bent on committing political suicide. He had little credibility on immigration to begin with because of his stance on dream act, sanctuary cities etc. Now he has to stretch this to breaking point? I hope his positions on Amnesty and other immigration issues do not follow in this same mold.

In 2008 McCain went from frontrunner to single digit candidate in the GOP primary because he embraced comprehensive immigration reform, amnesty and the rest of that nonsense. It was only after he got an earful from GOP primary voters and made a back flip on this, that he was able to revive himself in New Hampshire.

You would think candidates would learn from the history of past elections

There must be one sh*tload of $$$ bribeing these pro-illegal politicians. After all, 70-80% of the VOTING PUBLIC wants ‘em out of here. SO—WHAT’S REALLY GOING ON???

The Globalist Banksters control most of the worlds printing presses ( they just recently acquired one in Libya) which means they can and do create unlimited amounts of money. Most of that money is used as "juice" to control politicians, business leaders, academics, etc. and with unlimited money they can literally bribe entire societies. But they don't just want to own society they want to alter it to their own designs. Ever since the Banksters took control of our currency in 1913 they have been using that power to slowly dismantle Western civilization and replace it with their Marxist One World Government. More recently in the US they have bankrolled anyone necessary to open up our borders to hordes of Third-world aliens and to ship our industry and manufacturing to Red China.

Guys like Perry are a dime a dozen. They a groomed and vetted for years and if they "play ball" are given resources and assistance to move up the ladder. How do you think an absolute talentless nobody like Barry Soetoro went from unaccomplished State legislature to President of the United States in four years?

I am not particularly a Perry fan. But what he said is not being reported correctly. On purpose I presume.

He said he is for STRATEGIC fencing, and FOR the National Guard on our borders.

But, of course, that part is left out, because it’s not about what he actually said, it’s about the ‘perception’ that he’s not for protecting the border...

Your doing a good job of that.

I don’t want troops or a fence. I want the laws enforced. Maybe we should stop to THINK WHY are they coming here? Maybe the number one thing to do is turn off the magnet. Stop with the freebies, no more free health care, no more free education, no more free welfare, etc.—problem solved. This problem is government generated.

Your post needed to be repeated. It is what every candidate should be saying about illegal immigration.

The purpose of such walls, historically, was never to *stop* people entirely, but just to slow them down. Be it Hadrian’s wall in Britain, or even the great wall of China, which were built to prevent raiding armies and brigands from quickly invading, pillaging, then returning to the safety of the wilderness before a reaction force could nail them.

Sure, Mexicans would get “35 foot ladders”, but how long does it take to put up a 35 foot ladder, crawl to the top of the wall, pull the ladder up so that you can climb down the other side, *one at a time*?

Yes, *a* person might do that. But how about 200 people?

It is called “the law of diminishing returns.” That is, if we erect even a half decent border fence, it will just on its own probably stop 85% to 90% of illegal aliens from crossing. And it will *really* put the blocks to smuggling drugs.

Well worth the price. However, those individuals who *want* open borders, for several reasons, are very determined to prevent, at all cost, the building of that fence.

How to recognize these people?:

1) “Building a fence needs to be carefully researched for years.”

2) “Building a fence should be a part of a much more complex and diverse and expensive solution. The last part.”

3) “A ‘virtual’ fence is just as good.”

4) “The fence should be built first in the most desolate places with the fewest crossers, not on the half dozen major illegal alien and drug corridors near highways and cities.”

5) “We need to do something about the illegal aliens already here before we should concern ourselves with more entering all the time.”

6-100) Other nonsense, but all with the single purpose to stop the fence from being built. Includes such things as nonsensical cost overruns, environmental impact statements, who gets the contracts to build the fence, etc., etc.

They'll either tunnel under the fence or they'll simply hop on a boat and land on a beach somewhere.

Or they get a visitor Visa to visit Disneyland and drive through the checkpoint and just stay here.

The fence is just an eyesore. What we need is to just enforce the laws we have on the books.

We didn't need a 2000 mile fence when we enforced the laws. If we build a 2000 mile fence, then we will have less incentive to enforce the laws. The politicians will simply point to the fence and then claim that they have solved the problem and then there will be even less incentive to enforce the laws.

Instead, Perry said he supported “strategic fencing” and National Guard troops to prevent illegal immigration and violence from Mexican drug cartels.

I keep reading this line and I’ve got to laugh. Raise your hands if you think illegals are going to march up to a 30 foot fence with a 35 or 40 foot ladder... And what happens when you get to the top?

LOL!

You're not very imaginative are you? You carry a rope up the ladder and you climb down the rope to the other side.

I think that you would make a pretty lousy illegal alien. They are much smarter and more creative than you.

I should be clear. The bribery doesn’t come in the form of cash money in brown paper bags, although this does happen. The Banksters control many, many fronts and shell organizations: The big banks, of course, most the Fortune 500 Corporations, Foundations, Trusts, a litany of NGO’s. And with these they dole out jobs, bonuses, campaign contributions, grants, loans to anyone that advances their cause.

And will those boots on the ground be armed with orders to shoot, or unarmed with orders to retreat as they have been when used in the last few years?

I have to agree with Perry. I’d rather see boots on the ground on the Tex-Mex border, then see our military fighting and dying for Libyan al quada insurrgents and ungrateful POS’s in Iraq and Afghanistan.

We should be in it to win it or get out and stay strong, whether it’s in foreign countries or our own border.

The political elite own their allegiance to the NWO, global corporations, and global financial institutions. Secure borders, and a thriving pesky US middle class stand in the way of their plans for open borders, free passage of goods and natural persons.

People need to grasp the concept that we have dozens of democrat seats in congress that are the illegitimate result of illegals in America. After all, congressional numbers are set based on numbers counted.

If there are 30 million illegals in America, its enough to fill more than 50 congressional districts.

Yup ... the democans love the votes, and the republicrats love the cheap labor. Neither looks out for the welfare or security of those they are 'paid to represent'.

Part of these kind of issues are simply the MSM indirectly going after conservatives like Perry. They throw out an issue-any issue-and then sit back and watch conservatives self-destruct. I've see this happen time and again on social issues (abortion, illegal immigration, etc.) Divide and conquer. Does anyone think Romney will build a fence or even enforce illegal immigration laws?

I've become more and more convinced that if you focus on the fiscal end, the social end will take care of itself, simply because there won't be the money to do the social engineering. There won't be money to build fences, fund abortions, give money to illegals, pay people to do nothing, etc. The whole social engineering experiment will come to an end if you take away the money. That is what really frightens the liberals.

I do not think I can vote for a man that does not see the horrible plight of our unemployed in the light of millions of illegal workers taking a lot of their jobs. I am tired of it! Trump...we need you now! Step up please. Forget about your tv show, we have a nation to win back.

This fence is asinine. Bring our troops home from overseas, stop these stupid wars and have them protect the borders. They could also organize to fight these wildfires as well. At this rate people will be fleeing south out of Texas as it burns to the ground.

Building a thousand mile wall is not needed. Building a fence in some areas, however, is VERY useful.

Sarah Palin is weaker on immigration than I like. However, all of the Republicans would reject Obama’s “Amnesty by decree”. I believe all are in favor of voter ID and workplace enforcement. Perry is much weaker than I like, but all of them are. And yes, if Perry gets the nomination, I expect him to reverse course and move left...I may vote for him, but I will never trust him.

MY STAND - hunt them down & deport them, no medical care except for emergencies, take their kids with them - has no chance at all of being passed, and no candidate arguing for it would stand a chance of election.

For the most part the people who think a wall would work along the Tex-Mex border, are a bunch of STUPID damn Yankees who don't have a clue what they are talking about!

Why don't you walk the border and get back to us, Einsteins!

Isn't that the truth....idiots....his stand on immigration is the correct stand...h*ll he has been a border governor for 10yrs + and actually gets it. He has also talked to the folks that live on the border with ranches and farms....and they have told him NO and why. Perry will LOCK DOWN that border as President.

Also, if folks think this issue is important to Americans, they are sadly mistaken. IT'S ABOUT THE ECONOMY AND JOBS...the rest doesn't matter to them. Only a little bitty small group of the loons on the right.
