INDIANOLA, Iowa -- Sarah Palin still isn't a candidate, but in an aggressive bid to lay down her marker in the 2012 Republican presidential race, she delivered a speech here Saturday that was as confrontational toward the Republican establishment as it was aimed at President Obama.
Despite her high-profile endorsement of Rick Perry during his 2010 gubernatorial primary fight, Palin used thinly veiled language to leave little doubt that she sees the Texas governor and national front-runner for the Republican nomination as part of the problem.
Some GOP candidates, they also raise mammoth amounts of cash, Palin said. We need to ask them, too: What, if anything, do their donors expect from their investments? We need to know this because our country cant afford more trillion-dollar thank-you notes to campaign backers.
Again and again, Palin urged her audience to confront the permanent political class, crony capitalism and the good ol boys, whom she said she took on as governor of Alaska.

Theyve got a lot of mouths to feed, a lot of corporate lobbyists, a lot of special interests that are counting on them to keep the good times and the money rolling along, Palin said. It doesnt surprise me. Ive seen this kind of crony capitalism before.

No it is O’Reilly who is playing word games with her. I don’t know what there is about the word NO that you don’t understand, but it’s obvious that you see what you want to see here.
She’s against it, she’s said no to amnesty on many occasions.I believe her. Your agenda isn’t convincing me of anything. Sorry. Good day.
I like and respect Sarah Palin. Hoever, her stance on amnesty is disturbing. So is Perry's and to a less degree, Romney's. In 2008 were were given an echo not a choice on immigration and amnesty. I am afraid that 2012 will be no different.
“Nice catch! Amazing and disgusting how the PDSers resort to lies (half quotes).”
That’s why, in sworn testimony, witnesses are rejoined to tell, not the truth, but the whole truth.
Half truths are nothing more than a polite name for a lie. A lot of that goes on in any political discussion.
The politicians all say they support secure borders. Obama and Hillary signed on to the 2006 Secure Fence Act, which passed overwhelmingly in Congress. It is carrying out the laws where the politicians play games. And even securing our borders is not enough. 40% of all illegal aliens came here legally and overstayed their visas.
“She supports the AZ law how is that supporting amnesty?”
I never said Gov. Palin supports amnesty....If I did I must have been sleep typing....I’m fine with her views on illegals and the border....
heh heh...

That’s twice now that someone has posted a comment to my credit that I NEVER had anything to do with posting.....
Thanks, Ma’am! Thanks for all you do! I had so much fun; the rain didn’t matter at all. The crowd was great and enthusiastic. Everybody was nice, they appreciated Gov. Palin’s time and we appreciated her sticking around to meet us. The young lady who sang at the beginning and the end of the show was outstanding—a voice blessed by God. She says she’ll be on Fox and Friends tomorrow morning.
“Not necessarily...’millions in campaign contributions’ isn’t her goal, she would rather have ‘millions of campaign contibutors!’” ... and if they each gave $10, she would have ... millions in campaign contributions.
Bottom-line: Either she raises millions for her campaign or she doesn’t have a successful campaign.
Criticizing money in politics in a stump speech is like visiting Vegas and complaining about the gambling.
“Opposed to amnesty for illegal immigrants
Opposed to the DREAM act “
Not true. She supported McCain’s pro-amnesty position in 2008. did she flip-flop since?

Interviewer: To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?
Palin: I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

Ok, help me out here. Where does she mention Perry?
“Obama and Hillary signed on to the 2006 Secure Fence Act, which passed overwhelmingly in Congress. It is carrying out the laws where the politicians play games. “
... and it is STILL not built.
ALL the politicians are playing games on immigration - Perry, Romney, Palin, many others. Talk tough but treat it gingerly for fear of the hispanic vote and the business lobby.
Sept 17 hmmmm....that sounds like the REAL date not Sept 3, that early date was just Karl Rove tricking the Palin 'outliars' er 'outliers' as he is such a credible source with them.
I just hope Rove and Ed Rollins dont screw up this Sept 17 announcement too as they are evil.
"Palin: I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country."
That answer still doesn't indicate that she IS for amnesty or for the Dream Act. Palin's answer just states that she understands why they want to be here. The answer continues that it's "important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country."
That could mean that undocumented workers be identified, deported and put back in line to enter the US legally.
“Sure you can be a candidate and make that statement.”
True.
Plenty of loser candidates will say that money doesnt matter.
“In every generation, real innovation sweeps into some stale, conventional area and turns everything upside down. But the owners of the conventional wisdom seldom see the innovation coming until it is too late. “
There is nothing innovative in her populist statement against political influence. Politicians have used those lines for over 100 years!
“Nevertheless, innovate she will, because real cleanup is what she really means to do, and there is just no way to do it without real independence.”
Where’s the BEEF? What specific laws will she propose to ‘clean up’ things? we need to get beyond soundbites to justify such claims.
” Can she pull it off? That’s a fair and open question.”
She’s not the first candidate running on populist reform themes.
“Personally, Im betting she can. Its one of the main reasons Im backing her over Perry. “
A) She’s not a candidate
B) She won’t BE a candidate. Nothing she has done lately indicates a preparation for a run for President - no staff, no feelers to fundraising, no organization.
C) If she does become a candidate, she will not win, but stay at her 10% level, and will help Romney win. Why? because of (B) above; she hasnt laid the groundwork. giving speeches is not a campaign.
“But she has some unique advantages in attempting a pioneering solution. She has significant creative intelligence, and has already practiced to some extent running campaigns in which she was outspent by as much as 10 to 1, and yet was able to win”
They were much smaller races. Jan of this year, Palin was a near-frontrunner, now she is down in 6 or 7th place.
Her massive name ID and media advantages are becoming less useful as the race gets clarified.
“I don’t claim to know her whole formula”
I dont either but I suspect it is more about being a media celebrity than a serious candidate for office.
Final thought: Pretending that the laws of political campaigning dont apply to Sarah Palin is ultimately folly. In the end, if she runs, she will be just another candidate, and will have to prove her worth to a skeptical electorate just like all the rest. She doesnt have magic pixie dust to change that reality.
“Sarah makes Reagan look like John Kerry on quaaludes.”
You mean that wasn’t satire!?!?
“WHAT THE HELL DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE WHAT YOU CALL IT?!”
I don’t know of a single politician who is for ‘amnesty’ openly.
They deny it, while supporting some cockamamie plan to legalize the illegal in some way because they can’t man up and be for large scale deportation.
Palin towed the McCain line in 2008, but Palin-fans are sure she’s not for ‘amnesty’. Clear as mud, but really not a concern unless/until she becomes a candidate.
“That answer still doesn’t indicate that she IS for amnesty or for the Dream Act. Palin’s answer just states that she understands why they want to be here. “
Yes, that’s how politicians dissemble on us. Be careful when Perry talks of ‘secure the borders’ (while opposing the fence) and Romney speaks of Obamacare waivers for all 50 states on day one (instead of saying - I WILL REPEAL OBAMACARE).
BUT YOU MISSED IT ...
“To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?”
“Palin: I do ...”
In 2008, “I DO” - meant she supports the McCain pro-path-to-citizenship position.
“That could mean that undocumented workers be identified, deported and put back in line to enter the US legally.”
Nice wishful thinking.
Take your own advise and look at a dictionary.
