I wanted to dreadfully suggest an historic article to friends, relatives, business men and women, investors, workers, and pretty much anyone and everyone who can still read English yet, for a week there was no time. No time, as, while being in Las Vegas among hordes of pie in the sky technologists forecasting a bright and brilliant future as much as 2001 A Space Odyssey predicted in 1968 what the world would be in 2001, day and night there was simply not an opportunity as time took away even a descent lunch. Strangely, all the pontification took place in a setting surrounded by gamblers.
In one way, it was almost like the last days during the pull out of Vietnam.
It weighed upon my mind. Then finally, I returned home.
Please, take the time to read the following article. Every American. It is simple, straight to the point, and historic. Keep a copy for yourself. Look back at it a year later. Please consider it. It is an historic moment. It doesnt matter that it is simple, straight to the point and more pertinent, that it is obvious. That is the very reasons it is historic, a marker in time.
The OPINION section of the September issue of Fortune Magazine. The article is Politicians need to Face Harsh Realities about the U.S. Jobs Crisis by Nina Easton.
The rules of the forum prevent posting the entire article in the event of violating publishing rights. But let me just example one outtake, please:
Getting the unemployed re-employed isnt just about economic growth. There are now 6.2 million Americans (more than 44% of the unemployed) who have been out of work for more than a year and are dead last on any list of employers seeking to fill positions. These are people whose skills have rusted in a fast-paced global economy, along with twentysomethings who havent even developed the habit of work. We risk losing a generation of men and women who wont be able to find meaningful employment ever again.
This is what Obama has done to us. And, I see it happening. I spit on this man.
We are now in the Russian Front. Like the German forces into Russia repeating the same formula of quick rotational cycles of strikes which were effective against small specific targets, a specific city, an isolated metropolis, but which repeating the same formula across a wide crescent became obviously ineffective to everyone, and yet inveterate and repetitive for lack of any ideas from the leadership, so America is now descending into the woodlands of a cold front, inveterate and repetitive in resolve and formula, ever deeper, ever wider into the cold front, and with the resulting depleted resources and lack of supplies. It will now be the lack of supplies that will kill us. The formula is depleting the supplies. And then there will be no supplies. Even the best Junkers will be without petrol. You have surrounded a city, but the enemy is still out there, and the enemy within. The seige will collapse. The cordon will have no powder. You simply run out of bullets in this kind of game. It wont even be a war, anymore. The ingrained leadership will all commit suicide. By then though, the war is over.
The answer is new leadership, and very, very soon. Or the war is over. The consequences are serious. And then, all it will take is one more crises which can come from nature, the sky, from anywhere and then it will be more than serious. Do not think there will be the government coming to save you this time. Lack of supplies. You will be all alone on the Russian Front.
Then everything pretty much makes sense.
I think a link to the article would be very helpful.
The Framers provided a peaceful means to remove oppressive Presidents. No longer were people reduced to storming the executive mansion and do nasty things to a king, his ministers and family. Unfortunately, the power to impeach, convict and remove a criminal President, like so many other clauses, has been excised from our Constitution.
Is this the one?

Destroyer? Of course he is a destroyer. All Commies destroy, it is impossible for them to create anything. They have never created anything, NOTHING, EVER. They lie, steal, subject and murder to gain and stay in power. It has always been that way and will be forever.
God created order out of chaos, these vermin create chaos, misery and destruction. And they state that God does not exist. They are in for a surprise. (hee hee hee)
Cretin like him are the enemies of all Free Men.
Obama is so bad I expect to see billboard’s with a picture of Jimmy Carter that says, Miss me yet!
A fair question, but their loyalty to the Party of Big Government will last only as long as Big Government keeps those benefits flowing. Given our lack of top-line economic growth, now long can the out-of-control entitlement spending continue? They are fighting against economics, not politics.
Easton makes some good observations about the nature of work and skills gap too. There is great opportunity waiting those who find a way to bridge the two, and sending Junior off to four years of partying at State U isn’t cutting it.
“There are now 6.2 million Americans (more than 44% of the unemployed) who have been out of work for more than a year”
“These are people whose skills have rusted in a fast-paced global economy”
—
I do not believe for a minute that this is a skills deficit problem....
**
“Employers who complain that they can’t find qualified workers “
—
Utter BS!
**
“Recent studies show that U.S. companies will actually face a talent shortage in 10 years”
—
There is always a “talent” shortage. That shortage is not about “education” but about “talent”.
Good question and it is undoubtedly true for black Americans, the biggest recipients of government ‘help’ as measured by race.
I’d like to see the demographics of the 6.2 million Americans mentioned in the story. Are they older, Rust-Belt workers?
Excellent post and spot on. These radicals seek to impose their 'will' on us. They imagine they can violate Natural Laws, that they are smarter and better than the rest of us, and the only reason we don't see it is because we cannot think straight. Liberalism is a mental disorder.
I’ve long known that unemployment benefits, let alone extended unemployment benefits, were a disincentive to finding work, especially to low-income workers. I have to admit they were to me the few times I collected them but I looked for work anyway.
Swell. I’ll have to read this later. It’s too early and haven’t had coffee yet, and I’m in that 6.2 million group, so that right there was too damn depressing.
-——These are people whose skills have rusted ——
I see Ms Easton on Fox Special report and will not read her piece. She is a duplicitous nag, a liberal hack.
The skills of the referenced group have not rusted. They lack the necessary skills in the first place. In many instances, the skills they have are obsolete and they never got around to keeping up. Relying on old skills in a new world means unemployment.
By the way, she had major work this summer and her last appearance looked so young she was hard to recognize. She is not comfortable in her own skin
And illiterate, in large measure by their own decision.
Making money 'on the streets' is more attractive than having a real job.
3 points:
1. You cannot blame the rusty skills of American workers on Obama. This sort of thing just happens in a technological society.
2. This is not new. Just ask the buggy whip workers.
3. Those workers will get jobs if we put adults in charge of the Federal Government after the 2012 election and those adults get same Federal Government of the way of business tax-wise and regulation-wise. For many, the jobs will not be as good as the ones they've lost. But those jobs aren't the end of the line. Companies promote workers who are willing to develop the skills the companies need and that will happen naturally in this case just like it has in the past.
So I remain optimistic. That could change after the 2012 election but I doubt it. I fully expect the 'adults' to be in charge in 2013.
Back in the day, EMPLOYERS trained people to fill jobs they needed to fill. The two things unions did that made them valuable and beneficial to our society?: training workers and enhancing worker safety. Now they are a disastrous drain and drag.
We should be seeing more employment postings read “on the job training available to eligible candidates”. Start at slave wages for a training period, then move into a more permanent position. They could even BILL the candidates for the training and have it amortize over their employment term.
I have trained people on software, mechanical tasks, writing and sales skills. It works great as long as there is no snarky attitude problem. Measure the progress. Dump ‘em if they are below the standard. Reward them if they succeed.
Top-notch skills with project planning software, design and measurement tools and medical tech are in high demand. A candidate should not have to go broke paying for out-of-touch college coursework when on-the-job training is what they need.
To fill a position in your firm, identify an eligible candidate and train ‘em!
