Rick Perry, the governor of Texas, believes that climate change is a "contrived, phony mess." The federal income tax was the "great milestone on the road to serfdom." And the Boy Scouts of America are under attack by "a radical homosexual movement."
Mr. Perry also thinks that senators should be chosen by legislatures, not the people. And he says that Social Security, the retirement program for the nation's elderly, is a "failure" enacted during a power grab called the New Deal and is "something we have been forced to accept."
When it comes to health care, Mr. Perry writes that President Obama's legislation on the subject was "the closest this country has ever come to outright socialism," largely ignoring the fact that Mr. Obama's plan relies heavily on existing private insurance companies, doctors and drug manufacturers.

He becomes more and more interesting to me. But before I get all excited and feel a tingle up my leg (God forbid) I would like for Rick to tell me if he thinks that Islam is a ROP.
And I don’t want him to blow taqqiya smoke up our butts — I want him to read the Koran first and then tell us if he thinks that the ideology stated in that book can peacefully co-exist with that stated in the US Constitution.
And please Sarah, you do the same before you enter the race. You have been silent too long on that subject. The only person so far who has shown a realistic evaluation of Islam has been Newt.
He gave his full support to the person who originated the carbon exchange and manmade climate change hysteria to be the most powerful leader in the world.
A fact of some slight inconvenience.
IF you'd rather NOT be pinged FReepmail me.
IF you'd like to be added FReepmail me. Thanks.
(Unfortunately, coming from the New York Times, one doesn't know whether to believe it or not.)
I agree with every one of those statements, with the exception of his views on evolution. But I don’t vote for Biology Professor In Chief, I vote for Commander In Chief so I don’t really give a rat’s patoot about his views on evolution.
He’s going to turn this country around, save it from its downward spiral into stinking, filthy socialism.
That’s worth a lot to me. That’s worth a whole h*ll of a lot.
Looks like a list of features, not bugs.
Just what I don’t need, the NYT’s idiotic left wing spin on perfectly reasonable statements.
Me too.
Not really, gore did that nonsense well after Perry left the dem party, Perry thinks Gore has gone to hell....

Isn’t that amazing. I do too. I am total agreement with EVERYTHING he says. Should we be afraid or should we join this great governor in taking back our country? Maybe we can bankrupt the NY Slimes in the process.
..... and George Washington entrusted the most strategic fortress in the northern United States to Benedict Arnold.
Let's play another round of Monday Morning Quarterback. This is fun! :-)
Only the doofi believe that one. The financial reality is there is no money in the so-called trust fund. Benefits have to be paid right now by collecting taxes or borrowing the money. The 2037 or 2025 or whatever is a lie just like Perry said. Social Security is in the red right now.
How does he feel about corporate welfare?
Perry’s potential problem is he makes blunt statements. That style can be effective ... but only if the person follows through and can back up the statements logically. Just stating opinions is not enough. A President has to persuade. Making the statements is the first step. Let’s see how he does in the debates.
great~! I wonder if any other candidates have written books that can be examined?
The statists believe in a powerful, activist central government that advances a radical secular agenda in the name of compassion. They hide behind misguided notions of empathy and push token talking points about fighting for the little guy, all the while empowering the federal government to coercively and blatantly undermine state, local, and self-governance. pg. 320
The truth is, I dont care what party the statist is in. The fact of the matter is, it is the statist, and those who support or enable him, who is the problem. For too long he has undermined this country by empowering the national government at the expense of liberty. An America defined by the statist in Washington is an America doomed to fail. pg. 338

I dont know much about meteorology, but I love her uniform
Re #16:
If that photo of the Weather Girl is from your local station then your local station is superior to my local station.
Perry reminds me of Cheney. An adult who speaks the plain unvarnished truth, damn the consequences. Notice the author doesn’t refute the facts, instead depending on ad hominem attacks...
