Forbes magazine editor Steve Forbes says he "very impressed" with Texas Gov. Rick Perry and is leaning toward endorsing him for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.
"Rick Perry, the governor of Texas, is now the front-runner. He's had a good record even though liberals are now trying to trash it, along with perhaps some of his GOP opponents," Forbes, a two-time presidential candidate, tells Newsmax.
"He did some very good things in reforming their personal injury liability system, very very positive reforms. He encouraged energy production instead of states like California that discourage it, and refused to put in a state income tax. So in the great scheme of things thatâs a pretty solid record to run on. So he is the front-runner."

I too am thinking of a Rick Perry endorsement. Sarah Palin is MIA
I do.
They can take themselves and their children back to Mexico.
I’m not going to raise these criminal’s kids. Is that what you’re proposing here?
Taking university spots away from other LAW ABIDING families. Families such as the legal resident aliens and green card holders that actually had respect for the law in the first place.
SEE! This is what I’m talking about. THE GOP DESERVES TO LOSE BECAUSE IT CAN’T GRASP BASIC ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION.
If you agree to raise YET SOME OTHER CRIMINAL’S baby, along with the orphan children of the native US idiots that commit felonies and go to jail already, then you are at heart a statist, and you should just get it over with and embrace the GM Volt and everything it represents.
Every buck you need from me to compensate the poor, innocent offspring of the criminals is a dollar I can’t use to send my own offspring to college. Savvy?
And every criminal, and their offspring, I send home ends up freeing up job opportunities, jail cells, medicare dollars, university slots, parking places, and campsite availabilities to other law abiding people of every color of the rainbow.
All of us, over here, that understand such things - we are one big beautiful rainbow of people that understand that, well, we’d just love to help all those pilgrims out, but we’re too busy following all the idiotic laws imposed upon us and our businesses. After all, if I’m busy following all of these laws, how am I going to find time to help all these other pilgrims WHO ARE BUSY NOT FOLLOWING THE LAW, AND THEN HOPPING IN TO BED TO PORK THE MISSUS AND HAVE MORE BABIES TO CELEBRATE!!!!!
See why it’s hard to hear that a vote against the stupid will ultimately result in a vote for the evil?
I’m not a Palinista, because I don’t think she can win.
But I damn sure don’t want a guy that can’t grasp the obvious, just because he happens to be from Texas and for some strange reason never got around to TEXACARE, or something equally Romnoid in nature.
Sorry to rant, but WHAT’S IT GOING TO TAKE FOR THE GOP TO FINALLY GET THE ECONOMICS OF IMMIGRATION, AND WHY YOU CAN’T FIX ANYTHING UNTIL YOU ENFORCE THE FREAKING BORDERS?!?!
I’ve always respected Steve Forbes and would be thankful if we could have someone like him handling our country’s finances instead of the goons we have in there now.
“Flat tax time!”
Amen to that (and Steve Forbes would be great in a major financial position). SO many pols keep touting the “fair tax” - Huckabee and Boortz are huge proponents. But Allen West explained the difference between that and a flat tax well. The fair tax, or consumption tax, could easily be pushed by BHO and Progressives to become a Value Added Tax (VAT) which is breaking Europe, in ADDITION to our federal income tax (rather than in place of)!
West said that while the Fair Tax is a great end goal, we need a Flat Tax as a bridge to it - because the only way to have a Fair Tax and not break the backs of most people would require doing away with ALL other taxes - federal income tax, capital gains tax, all of it. Doing that will require a repeal of the 16th Amendment, a process which takes some significant time. So meanwhile, institute a Flat Tax around, say 13%. A “Fair Tax” should NEVER be passed until all other federal taxes (primarily income tax) are repealed.
Go Flat Tax!
Don’t forget our Armed Services, who have been trashed and literally murdered by the ...
“The United States (as a republic) CAN survive the chief usurper of the Oval Office, but what the United States of America can NOT survive: an electorate SO stupid to actually give a politician such as Obama - along with the baggage known and unknown - the reigns of government.”
Done, right? Didn’t we already do that?
Or are you saying that if we are dumb enough to DO IT YET AGAIN, then we deserve to die?
I almost agree.
Clinton gave us Welfare Reform. Nixon gave us the EPA. Romney gave us Obamacare, and McCain begat Obama. Bush FAILED on immigration (big time).
This is the Tea Party’s beef, and I buy it in total. Just because there is an R by the name doesn’t mean they grasp the basic economics of something as simple to get as national sovereignty? How many adults are really left in the room when you have to explain it to the GOP as if they are four years old.
In modern parlance, the ‘enlightened liberal’ is now basically the same as a modern moderate, yes?
The Reagan Democrat, the Obama Independent (the Godmother of one of my kids voted for Bush, W, then voted against McCain for Obama - works high up at Russell Investments).
It’s hard for me to work with the adjective ‘enlightened’ when most people think the words ‘separation of church and state’ actually appear in the Constitution.
Many are opposed to abortion on moral grounds, and not because it was an in-your-face violation of the 9th and 10th amendments by SCOTUS in another one of their culturally scarring blunders.
If Jefferson were around, he’d have wondered what the hell we are doing not wrecking what’s now in place and starting over.
You are right, however, liberals aren’t evil. Liberals simply adhere to a dogma that is at its base deeply immoral, which is to say, “What’s mine is mine, and what’s yours is mine as well if you have more than I do.”
Couple that with a tax code carefully crafted to foment such a culture. It’s not a stretch to pity the sinner here but hate the people who KNOW its wrong and are working to make things worse.

It’s pretty good. I liked SF when he ran for POTUS back in the day (he wasn’t good looking enough for the shallow sheople voters). A VERY smart and classy guy (I catch him every Sat. morning on e Forbes on Fox business).
Or are you saying that if we are dumb enough to DO IT YET AGAIN, then we deserve to die?NOPE. This country can NOT survive an electorate SO stupid to give reigns of power to a candidate such as Obama. The fact is that IT DID do so.
I'm not in any disagreement concerning the other issues you referenced. I'd recommend that you check out my tag-line.
After you regroup we can talk again.
P.S. to PGalt: his political economy comes up once again...
We’re in complete agreement. I thought that’s what you said.
It makes my head hurt.
I’m not sure what’s worse: either they don’t understand it, or they do understand it but think they can undermine the nation and it’ll somehow heal itself or something.
I’m fairly sure its the latter and not the former. None of them are stupid people, even when you run into someone that really tests that assumption (Pelosi, perhaps, or Lee from Texas).
I just wanted to clarify your remarks to ensure I understood them, and I’m pleased to see I did.
“Liberals arent evil. Its not like Obama got into office and set onto his master-plan to screw things up.”
Oh, really???
a) Liberals in the traditional sense aren’t evil. But in this day and time, those who are called Liberals are now, in reality, Progressives and Marxists or worse. And they ARE evil;
b) BHO is beyond both Liberal AND Progressive. He always had a mission to take this country down - when you study his past, his background and all those with whom he’s surrounded himself throughout his life, it’s understandable and obvious in his words and deeds.
Put the lawbreakers in jail. Leave innocent children out of this.
Why don’t we just punish you for something your parents or even ancestors did?
Forbes isn’t endorsing Perry.....”leaning” is not endorsing...don’t spread lies...the election season is not yet in full swing.
“So you support punishing people whose parents committ crimes? Yes. Thats American isnt it?”
A retreat to “it’s all for the children” is, IMHO, the last refuge of scoundrels. The children are pawns of their parents (chain migration), the left, and cheap-labor R’s. It has nothing to do with compassion and everything to do with amnesty (either overtly or, by chain migration, covertly) for all illegals.
If you can’t make your argument without resorting to “it’s for the children,” you should consider not making it.
Good, and I agree, they will keep coming.
Wonder what Forbes stands to gain from Perry if he does....you don't play in Perry's camp unless you pay up.
I agree, it is an important endorsement.
No....he wants the Government to "secure" the border from Drug Thugs and wars so his Corporate/Industrial merge with Mexico's Northern Border can flourish without "problems"....further he wants tax payers to pay for it.
I wish you people would quit snowballing people with this "secure" the border Perry uses to side step "closed" borders.....which he will never do. There is a difference!
I understand your point, but the impact of that question cannot be dismissed. Squishy independents hear that argument and are instantly swayed by it.
Any discussion that focuses on children is guaranteed to be won by whichever side is making the most emotional appeal.
Focus on punishing employers of illegals, focus on making it hard for illegals to work, basically encourage illegals to deport themselves the same way they came in. Americans, even squishy ones, generally don't like illegal immigration and they understand the need to have the right documentation.
Once the focus shifts to children, their brains turn off and their hearts hit the override. At that point, the argument is lost. There's just no will in America to get tough on the kids of criminals.
