JAY CARNEY, WH Press Secretary: "They don't give a lick about the day and time:
ED HENRY, FOX News: "Why doesn't he give a speech from the oval office tonight saying here's my plan?"
CARNEY: "He wants to speak before Congress because he recognizes that while there are things he can do without Congress, and he will do them, there are actions that need to be taken with Congress that require legislation to grow the economy and create jobs. And he wants to go to Congress, speak directly to members of Congress, and layout his proposals."

Tell me Im being paranoid, please... On the contrary, I think you're on to something. Putting all the unemployed on the government payroll would be a masterstroke.

One thing that’s obvious that he can’t do is stop his wife from going on vacation. Didn’t she just have a nose job at tax payer expense? Maybe that’s why we haven’t seen her in weeks.

So hes got to announce something BIG, and to do that I have no doubt he will cast the Constitution and Congress aside and unilaterally enact some giant government godzilla plan.. I truly do not think you are that far out in left field (as in baseball, not liberal)when it comes to what bambi would like to do, or would like us to believe he could do.
That being said, bambi may forget that there are just so many straws that can be placed on a camels back.

The president cannot enact anything remotely close to this.
He has NO MONEY in which to fund it.

This works both ways. When government subverts and ignores its own laws, it gives license to the people - even those hard-working, law-abiding, tax-paying citizens. We are now free to ignore their ‘rules’ and ‘requirements’ to the extent that we do not get caught. Frankly, government is your enemy - not your friend and protector.

He never had the money to fund his expenses in the past. He is on a borrow today and leave the paybacks to the next generation. Why should he stop now. He is soooooooooooo getting us in debt that one more IOU will just cement his “Final Solution” to the destruction of this country.

True. But I think that (for whatever he is concocting, not just my scenario) is what the joint session of Congress is for. He’s going to toss his Big Idea to them, and if they pass it he will take credit, and if they do not he will use that to run against Congress in 2012 instead of the Republican nominee. Either way, Congress is walking into a trap.

That's exactly what he wants to do. He is out to break this country. Sure he does. But remember, We the People are NOT Camels.
We can reject the final straw that that constitutionally challenged dweeb attempts to place upon us.

Obama wants to speak before a joint session of Congress because the trained seals on the Democrat side will cheer like crazy at every one of his applause lines.
That, and he likes the trappings of power...in Congress he's like a king addressing his subjects, whereas in the Oval Office there would just be the camera people, the teleprompter technician, and maybe a couple of other people.
To: luvbach1
On the contrary, I think you're on to something. Putting all the unemployed on the government payroll would be a masterstroke.
It would make arguments for smaller government and spending cuts that much more of an uphill battle. The demagoguery would be of epic proportions.

Problem for him is also there are things he can do but it would involve becoming adversarial with Congress and using executive orders that usurp some of their power. If it comes down to ceding some of their power to help Obama, influential leftists like Pelosi and Reid will look after themselves first. Obama loses.
