I’ve seen someone hit with wasp spray. It’s not a pretty sight. You can do damage with snake shot too. When people hear the noise of a gun shot they scatter. I’m talking these flash mobs. A single bullet could miss the person you’re aiming at and hit an innocent bystander caught up in the mob.

I am not shooting into the ground. We do not fire warning shots.

That's wasting ammunition you may need defending yourself.

ps - I’m talking about you’re in your car and they bust a window to try to pull you out.

If you happen to be in your vehicle when the attack comes...use reverse as much as you can...the rear of just about any vehicle can take a lot of punishment and still keep going. You don’t want holes in your radiator or an airbag in your face.”

Hmm, never thought of that, but if they are in front of the car, why not run them over?

I’m hoping Impact will honor the $299 price I ordered it under.

At that price it's worth the wait. I just checked their website and they're now at $339.99.

Good luck.

You could always paint the muzzle orange, then attach a few tubes from here to there, and affix a water bottle on the top rail.

Then walk around with it in plain sight, disguised as a giant soaker.

Then when the mob points to you and lol's, you let 'em have it.

;-)

I think I have to have one of those. Wonder why they didn’t make it semi auto. It sells for around 650.-750.00 depending on where you buy it. I called my local dealer and he gave me a price of 675.00.

So nowhere in CA can you carry a gun? No way in hell would I live in a state like that. No right to defend yourself? I would imagine many do it anyway and take their chances. I’m sure none of the criminals carry guns there, right? /s

Wasp spray, then a .45 loaded with snake shot.
Shooting to wound someone is simply asking them to take all your assets and property. Shoot to kill. Shoot until dead. Do not leave survivors (aka plaintiffs)
I guess I misinterpreted the post. I was thinking about those mobs that attack people in their cars or on the street. Someone who’s been sprayed with wasp spray or hit in the face with snake shot is not about to continue their attack.
If I may interject... Whew! So you're wearing one holster for wasp spray and another for the Judge loaded with snake shot - where's the 3rd one for when the swarm has missed or ignored your hints? Dunno where you live, but I wouldn't leave an aerosol can under pressure in the car during summer months, ya know?

I'm not making fun of you (or anyone else) whose first inclination is to shrink from taking a life. Lord knows I don't want to, either. If you can drive away or otherwise leave the scene, do so immediately. Nobody says you have to get the whole crowd - just the ones keeping you from fleeing to safety. But stuck in traffic means stuck until the bodies are piled too deep to keep coming at you. Remember, the question is about a flash mob, a swarm of people. And to quote Tommy Lee Jones's character in Men in Black, "Sure, a person is smart. But people are stupid." How much wasp spray ya got? Does it make an unmistakeable BOOM when you pull the trigger, so the ones further out recoil and make way for the closer individuals to scatter away?

With regard to so-called less lethal projectiles, consider the circumstances in which our LEOs/military personnel (or even the IDF) uses them: fired from a position of cover from the perp, along with an advantage in numbers. The guy shooting beanbags, rubber bullets/whatever is being covered by his comrades who are wielding lethal force.

Not even the professionals load less lethal ammo in their personal defense weapons, and it goes beyond not leaving a plaintiff who will sue. If you must fire at handgun distance, you are doing so in immediate fear for your life. Other means of avoidance are already impossible.

After the fact: You may declaim all you wish that you only meant to wound, but The Law, actually The System, names firearms defense "deadly force" under the presumption that you meant to kill. If you must shoot, shoot to stop, and if your attackers happen to fall dead, that's their problem. You flee to the nearest cop and enter your story first.

And yes, it is called "less lethal," vice "non-lethal," for a very good reason. That's been addressed on this thread by other posters. The other humans involved, and even your mindset at the time, are the variables. Don't screw it up even more with an iffy defense.

All IMHO, of course.

"If I may interject... Whew! So you're wearing one holster for wasp spray and another for the Judge loaded with snake shot ..."

You have two cans of wasp spray under the drivers seat. Again, I'm talking about a flash mob breaking the car's glass to get at you. You're already prepared to act because you see what's happening. As for the "Judge" - I'm talking about a 10rd. mag in a 1911A1 plus spares. They will scatter.

Bear repellant is a non lethal area denial weapon ie it discharges a large volume in a cone shaped pattern while wasp spray is a single stream also in a mob situation with people literally try to stomp you to death you want to stop the attack in its tracks ,the fastest most efficient way to stop the attack is to shoot the attackers till they stop & snake shot ain’t the tool that will do the job.

Well I look at it that some guy trying to get to you when you’re inside a car will have his head framed by the window - you blast him with that foamy wasp spray (this I learned in a defense class) and they will back off - problem with pepper spray that it could come back on you. As for the gun, again, an errant bullet could miss and hit someone else. In any case, the adrenalin would be heavily flowing. If not snake shot then I’d go with Glaser Safeties.

Incendiary Ammo, they used to carry the 12 gauge but they are out of it now. They do have this:

20rds - 45 ACP Incendiary Ammo

http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/product_info.php/cPath/25_34/products_id/48

20rds - 7.62x54R Starburst Incendiary ammo- 4000 degrees when it hits the target, that’s a big ouch.

Would this be considered a warning shot?

12 Gauge Terminator X Ammo. This slug mushrooms upon impact and expands to nearly 2 inches, stopping the slug from totally penetrating the target. This rapid expansion forces the dozen of tiny pellets to spread through the target, opening an area at the impact point equal to a softball! This creates a tremendous shock effect.

Hahaha!

It’s fun joking around, but after having read the thread to #157, I’ve come to realize what a bush-bunny I am. I live on the border of the Purcell Wildlife Conservancy in B.C., prime grizzly habitat. We also have cougar, wolves, black bears and coyotes, any of which could do you real harm. Locals manage the situation by being aware, not by packing iron. Nobody’s been et by a bear, although folks I know have fought them unarmed and survived. There are rifles and shotguns in homes, but one only sees them in public during fall hunting season(great elk and deer hunting here).

I feel safer here unarmed than I would in Philadelphia driving around town in an armored personnel carrier with a 15-round 12-gauge handy-by.

That’s some scary **** happening in your cities!

In the movie “Desperado”, the guitar case WAS the gun. Couldn’t find it, but that’s the idea.

Tear gas shells from a 12 Gauge does the trick, then back it up with lead if they keep coming.
