Desperately seeking Qaddafi's brigade of beautiful bodyguards
Al Arabiya News ^

When the rebels stormed into Muammar Qaddafi’s fortress of Bab al-Aziziya they expected to find more people than just the stalwart leader and his family. But it appears that Qaddafi’s famed bodyguards too have vanished into thin air.

There is no trace of Qaddafi’s female bodyguards, once estimated to be around 400 beautiful women.

The Libyan leader first began to appear with his female guards in the 1990s; his previous guards were from the former East Germany.

According to media reports, in the past 20 years Qaddafi employed as many as 400 “Revolutionary Nuns,” as the female guards came to be known. They were also referred to as “The Amazonians.” ..............

During Qaddafi’s visit to Italy in 2009, photographs appeared of one of his guards, an elegantly dressed woman, who seemed to catch Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s eye – so much so that he breached protocol and went to shake hands with the guard.

Palmer admits he got the idea for that video from Dick Shawn’s performance in the movie, “The Producers.”

40 Lipsticked Virgins: Gadhafi's Best Bet for Survival
All Voices by Lauren Frayer Mar 23, 2011 – 8:39 AM

Gadhafi established the Tripoli Women's Military Academy in 1979 as a symbol of women's emancipation. "I promised my mother to improve the situation of women in Libya," he reportedly said at the time. His mother, a Bedouin tribeswoman born when Libya was an Italian colony, was illiterate.

The few foreign visitors who've been granted a glimpse inside the academy describe a spartan cement-block complex where 100 handpicked women drill in elite killing techniques, day and night, for three years. They're awoken by bugle call at 4:30 a.m. and jog for one and a half hours, before branching off into classes. Some train to fly MiG fighter jets, while others learn martial arts or how to fire rocket-propelled grenades.

"The three-year training program involves all aspects of soldiering, from firing artillery and rocket launchers to hand-to-hand combat and communications," said Jane Kokan, a Canadian journalist who was granted rare permission to visit Libya in 1995 for a documentary about Gadhafi's bodyguards.

...

The academy's best students are dubbed "revolutionary nuns," and they never marry and dedicate their lives to the idea of Gadhafi's 1969 revolution. They're banned from having sex and swear an oath to protect the Libyan leader until death, if need be. In 1998, a bodyguard named Aisha threw herself on top of Gadhafi when Islamic militants ambushed his motorcade. A barrage of bullets killed her and injured two others, but Gadhafi escaped unharmed.

"Palmer admits he got the idea for that video..."

Need to change that to the past tense. Palmer died in '03.

Unconfirmed video of one of the bodyguards being captured last week. Haven't seen anything about it since. I wonder what that poor woman's fate was.

If it’s anything like Iran, she was ‘married’ then executed, unless her ‘husband’ was willing to keep her alive.

If they are lucky, they’ve managed to escape libya or should that be impossible, they are in hiding.

If not, they will most likely spend the remainder of their short lives praying for death while in the hands of the “rebels”, because death would be infinitely preferable.

The only thing kadaffy, quadoffi, kadaphi or however you spell the madman’s name had in his favor was supposedly he didn’t treat them like a devout mohammedan should to stay in mohammed’s good graces.

Gaddafi raped female bodyguards - new claims
Monsters & Critics Aug 28, 2011, 7:29 GMT

Valletta, Malta - Five women who formed part of Moamer Gaddafi's select unit of female bodyguards are claiming they were raped and abused by the now hunted dictator, The Sunday Times of Malta reported.

The women have told Benghazi-based psychologist Seham Sergewa they were sexually abused by Gaddafi and his sons before being discarded once the men had become 'bored' with them.

The claims form part of a dossier being collated by Sergewa for the International Criminal Court and possible trial that Gaddafi and members of his inner circle may face in Libya if and when they are captured alive.

One of the women told Sergewa how she had been blackmailed into joining the bodyguard brigade, once believed to number as many as 400 women, after the regime fabricated a story that her brother was carrying drugs on his way back to Libya from a holiday in Malta.
