The truth is that the dire warning beforehand suited both politicians and journalists. Just as with the minor earthquake that shook the east coast last week causing no loss of life and virtually no damage, Irene became a huge story because it was where the media lived. For politicians, Irene was a chance to either make amends or appear in control. The White House sent out 25 Irene emails to the press on Saturday alone.

Wait and see ..the flooding will be the real problem and it will not get covered....not exciting like homes falling into the sea..MSN does not cover the news anymore...it is politics and sob stories..
Just like the 1st responders getting locked out of the 10th anniversary of 9/11 events so all the politicians can be there instead.

The first thing that always gets cut is the stuff we need and the last stuff to get cut is middle management weeinies, boy toys for Barney Franks and Harry Reid or private jets for nancy pelosi.
Cut it all to the bone, could care less if another airplane flew into a hurricane. Just drop a probe in or a drone to get data. Manned flights into that stuff is lame and I'm sure there are other ways to collect data. My real question is "What data do those planes provide that isn't provided by doppler radar, ocean/sea buoys and satellites? "
Ain’t that a ‘63 or ‘64 Ford Galaxy there?
