NEW YORK As Hurricane Irene roars toward the East Coast home to some of the country's most densely populated cities and costliest waterfront real estate experts are forecasting a multibillion-dollar disaster.
Hurricane Irene is expected to make landfall in North Carolina as a Category 2 storm early Saturday, then move up the Eastern Seaboard, where more than 50 million people from the Carolinas to Massachusetts could be in the path of heavy rain and tropical-force winds. The economic impact of the hurricane largely will depend on factors that include the storm's size, where it makes landfall, and the speed at which it's moving when it hits the coast. But experts already are forecasting billions of dollars in losses.

The media are so salivating to make this into a monster storm....please!
I’m just waiting for Mr. Obama to blame former President Bush for the Hurricane.....he blames everything else on him.
Think of all the jobs obama could save or create.
From what we’re seeing down here it’s nothing but a gale force wind of around 135Kph (85mph).
It’s all George Bush’s fault.
He loves fossil fuels because his friends are all oil men; they make alot of money and so does he.
He adds to global warming by burning fossil fuels. That creates warmth for the hurricanes to feed on, and so it’s all George Bush’s fault.
Dontcha Know?
/SSSSSSSS/
It’ll be a boom to the construction and building supplies industry. Auto industry, too.
How can this be?
Economic Genius Paul Krugman says a natural disaster will be a boon to the economy because of all the spending of money the government doesn’t have on recovery...
How’d you get that picture of Obama’s Oval Office desk?
They can’t decide whether to blame the hurricane,
Presidnet Bush, or the Tea Party for the lousy economy.
(Being Progressive scu*bags, they’ll find someone or something to blame.)
IMHO
It would seem to me that a hurricane should help the economy? A homeowner or business will have to get repairs made, which would entail purchases being made, resulting in more sales to businesses. And repair companies will earn much more business doing repairs from the hurricane.
obama will say it is GW Bush’s fault, it is the desire of the USA to use oil, it the fault of rich people who want to live on the coast.
Now M Waters will say who cares anyway they are only white people let’m go to hell, that’s what GW Bush wanted for blacks.
Omaba better hope a little harder for an excuse for his economy. Its now down to a Cat 1 with winds at 80 mph. Here in the NW we call that November.
Thank you, Paul Krugman.
Now, where's my shot glass?
It's a good thing we had Ray Nagin on the networks (MSDNC and See-BS) teling us how we should prepare.
Just when I thought things couldn't get any more bizzarre...
