I'm cursed with the fact there may be two other Racehorses in San Antonio. For years I've endured phone calls and letters from debt collectors trying to recover money from the other Racehorses.
Recently, I received by mail a settlement offer from Capio Partners, 2222 Texoma Pkwy, Ste 250 in Sherman, Texas on behalf of Baptist Emergency Physicians. My assumption is that Baptist Emergency Physicians provide medical personnel to the San Antonio Baptist Hospital System and use a private billing company (which as yet has not returned my phone calls . . . just checked my messages).
Only problem is . . . this was not my debt. Even if it was, being a military retiree treated in a civilian hospital, medical care would have been covered for some reimbursement under Tricare.
One other Racehorse appears to have been a psychologist who fell on hard times. The other Racehorse appears to be a young man without means to pay his debt.
I'm really tired of dealing with the debt collectors and how they trade debt accounts like mortgages.

Call a local attorney. Make sure you don’t end up getting a judgment against you for the other racehorse mistake. These collection agencies are as bad or worse than deadbeats, and they don’t care where the money comes from.
When we first moved into our home, we would several calls a day. All asking for some lady with a Spanish name. The calls were from several different companies. Went on for more than a year, at least. We had no idea who that person was.
You can also tell them on the phone to immediately cease and desist.
If you are getting a letter from them, send a letter back, Registered Mail, telling them this is not your debt and to cease and desist, else you will sue.
Get your attorney to send them a cease and desist order. If they don’t, start acting like a bill collector and try and get a judgment against them for costs, pain and suffering, etc.
I am techniqually a Jr. so I have a big problem as my bio-donor is a major hippy pothead that just loves to write the local newspaper editor and sound off like the second coming of (your favorite leftist name here).
I have friends in church asking me if that’s me in the paper. I have to continually explain to people that whatever that dain bramaged slacker believes, understand that we are polar opposites politically.
I’ve never been so glad that he left my mother and she eventually married my DAD, a 2 tour Vietnam vet with enough medals on his chest and enough weapons in his house to be considered a possible domestic terrorist threat.
Other than waiting for the bio-donor to friggin’ DIE already, I can think of nothing that would make him stop.
I cancelled my Gold’s Gym membership 2 1/2 years ago. They are still calling me even when I explained that I sent a certified letter cancelling my membership. They said I did it wrong and keep calling me.
I don’t give a crap, I just ignore them and put the fax machine on instead of the answering machine. I followed the instructions on the back of the contract. They are foreigners...and they’re annoying!
keep letting him know what you feel
i can think of no worse punishment for a dad
(but he sounds too far out left to get it. Liberalism IS a mental desease, after all)
Tell them that Racehorse died. He blew himself up inside the debt collector offices. They’ll probably stop calling.
My mom and dad lived in a smaller city in St. Louis county; their names Rich & Joan Kazinski (not real last name but just as odd so you get the idea).
After living their a couple of years they started receiving bills addressed to Rich & Joan Kazinski that were not theirs. Anyway collections started etc and it turned out that on the next block over...there was in fact another Rich & Joan Kazinski.
This was back in the early 60’s though. You know before society lost its mind and people were reasonable if you explained that a mistake had been made. Oh yeah...and back then...they had to only deal with english speaking americans. how quaint.
I’m sure this didn’t help you but its a good story right? lol (sorry) Hope you get it straightened out but like someone else suggested you might want to get an attorney.

Mr./Ms. Collector,
I am writing in response to your constant phone calls!
According to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, [15 USC 1692c] Section 805(c): CEASING COMMUNICATION: You must cease all communication with me after being notified in writing that I no longer wish to communicate with you. Therefore, I demand that you stop calling me at home, at work, on my cell phone or at any other location!
In accordance with the federal FDCPA, now that you have received this “stop calling” letter, you may only contact me to inform me that you:
are terminating further collection efforts;
invoking specified remedies which are ordinarily invoked by you or your company; or
intend to invoke a specified remedy.
Be advised that I am well aware of my rights! For instance, I know that any future contact by you or your company violates the FDCPA and that since you already have my location information, calls made by you or your company to any 3rd party concerning me violates section 805(b)2 of the FDCPA.
Be advised that I am keeping accurate records of all correspondence from you and your company, including tape recording all phone calls. If you continue calling me I will pursue all available legal actions to stop you from harassing me and my family.
Signature
Your Printed Name
IMPORTANT: Always send stop calling letters by “official mail - return receipt requested” and keep a copy for your records.
You can change the letter in such a fashion to state they hasve the wrong “racehorse.”
In the case of one company, CAMCO, better than 75% of the $ they collected came from people that did not owe it in the first place!
Send them a certified letter. Cease and desist. Proper form can be GOOGLED easily. Ask them to provide you with a copy of the actual debt. Review TX AG website for complaint forms.
Stay on them...
We are not on speaking terms. His choice actually. He was horrified that a “son” of his would join the Army in order to go to the first gulf war. As far as he was concerned, I dies the day I signed the papers.
Works for me, I have a real Dad that I am proud of and is proud of me.
just answer the phone, “Hallo! My name is Peggy. How can I halp you?”.........”TRANSFER!”............
I thought I put an end to harassing phone calls well over a year ago. They were looking for someone I never heard of. I've lived at the same address and had the same phone # for years.
Then out of the blue I had a message on my answering machine. Those a**wipes even called my parents in a different city looking for that person. So obviously my name got associated with that person. They better not call back..
Pay it forward and pay their bills......
hehehe
Gold’s Gym tried to butt-rape me too after I cancelled my membership. They just kept billing. Thank goodness for online banking! I found out Gold’s has a serious reputation for this sort of thing. We are not alone in this.
I think if John Edwards wants to make a little more cash and stay occupied he might want to branch out and organize a little class action lawsuit.
The guy whose medical bill was sent to your home address is the one that would concern me most. If your name, address, and telephone number have all been tied to this guy’s debts, his cr*p is very likely to start showing up on YOUR credit report. First thing I would do is get copies of your credit report (from all 3 agencies). If everything looks right on your credit reports, then I’d consider using one of those identity protection companies (I use identityguard.com and have been quite happy with them) to make sure it stays that way. Then I’d follow the advice of others previously posted about cease and desist letters to the debt collecting scum who are harassing you.
As to your actual question about how often I am contacted by debt collectors, the answer is: never.
Tell them your real name is James Edward Pough...and you are easily annoyed.
I once got a call at my home from an employee of PG&E who thought he was calling the office. When I said hello, he lit into me for not answering “This is PG&E..etc”, at that moment I decided to have some fun and told him, “I will do whatever I want bozo, nobody tells me what do to do....” Of course that made him even madder and the SHTF. I strung it out for all it was worth then finally told him he had dialed the wrong number.
As far as handling the collectors, as the others have stated, turn it around and go after them, it will be effective and you will have some fun too.
